Good tv with a bright screen and vivid picture. The sound I ok and works well at low volumes, but if you're watching a movie, you'll want the home theater on. I thought I'd be Ok with the 60hz refresh rate, but it does make a difference and I'd spend the extra dough for the faster refresh if I could do it over again.
What's great about it: Bright screen, easy set up, affordable
What's not so great: Slow refresh rate, a little sluggish with fast paced scenes and sports.

I have only had my new tv for about a month and I LOVE IT! It took me about a month of shopping to decide on which television I wanted to purchase and when I did I went to Best Buy to buy this tv but I was looking to get the 47" instead of the 42". Even though I gave up 5" I am very happy with this television. LG is a great brand and I got this tv at a great price $649 so ultimately no complaints here!!
What's great about it: Easy to set up, GREAT PRICE, Awesome picture
What's not so great: No issues

We purchased this for a second TV for the living room but find our selves watching it all the time instead of going down to the family room to a bigger TV. Pair it up with Sony sound bar a woofer and couldn't be happier.
What's great about it: Nice picture, great price
What's not so great: sound, but i haven't a LCD that did sound good

We purchased this HDTV after extensive research on 40-42" flat screens. We weren't interested in spending the money for a top of the line tv, which would have provided all the bells and whistles, most of which would have been lost on us, anyway. Instead, we were looking for a basic HDTV with a clear picture, good size, and decent sound. The LG more than met our expectations. Set up was easy, the picture is terrific, and the sound is actually quite good, even without the benefit of a home theater system. We are using this in a room that is approximately 15'x12' and the 42" screen is perfect.
What's great about it: Easy to set up, great price, beautiful picture, decent sound without home theater system

I bought this tv for my bedroom after carefully researching all of my options, because I wanted the best quality for the best price. Finally decided on LG because Samsung simply wasn't in my budget for an LCD. I will say that the reps from Best Buy know their stuff because this tv is exactly what they said it would be. I would definitely recommend this to anyone. And the cost goes without saying.
What's great about it: The picture and sound quality are superb. Easy set-up.
What's not so great: Haven't found anything yet, its all good.

I have only had it for 2 weeks but one thing that I liked is the weight, less then 40 lbs.In reading other people's ..some good some not so good... reviews about the sound... for me crisp clear voices.I adjust the sound between 35-40 ONLY!.Color is perfect!!! There is a little "blur" but not really worth complaining about. I hooked it to my P.C just for the heck of it....awesome!!!!
What's great about it: For the price you can't go wrong

I picked this up as a complete impulse buy on clearance for $615. It's nearly identical to the 42" LG I already had in the living room, but this one was destined to replace the old TV in the bedroom. The setup is ridiculously easy, and the on-screen menus are intuitive and easily navigated. I'm very pleased with the picture quality. The internal speakers aren't bad either. They don't compare to the living room surround sound, but they're certainly adequate. That leads to me to one of my two gripes, petty as they may be. The TV only offers digital outputs. Most would consider this a plus, but in my case, the TV lives in a bedroom armoire. I simply ran RCA cables from the old TV into a small stereo system that lived in the same armoire, and those speakers let me pretend I was enjoying surround sound. Since the stereo doesn't have any digital inputs, I can't run the LG audio signal through it. I guess I'll just have to suffer... My only other observation involves the remote control. It would be nice if the controls were illuminated in some manner.
Nitpicking aside, it's a great TV, especially at this price. This is my second LG purchase, and I wouldn't hesitate to buy another.
What's great about it: Great picture, easy set up, great price
What's not so great: Audio output options

This TV has been great so far. I'm not tech savvy at all and I was able to set everything up on my own, no problem. I can't think of anything that I'd ask for to improve it, although I have to admit, this is my first HD TV so I don't have much to compare it to!
What's great about it: Great price, able to set it up by myself

I was looking for a replacement TV that was at least 42" and 1080P. This one fit the bill, the refreshrate will be fine for the normal use it will see. It wold be nice if it had more HDMI inputs but at what this unit cost, and it was on sale I could not pass it up.

I went to Best Buy for a TV- compared picture quality, price. This was a best value- larger than 40" Samsung, fantastic picture, but yet less expensive. Brought it home. LOVED the picture wizard, quality of picture. 2 issues that seem to be relevant to this particular LG model: sound sometimes does not match picture (I saw it 2x in a week on HD channels), and screen went black for a count of about a slow 7 seconds when switching channels. That worried me enough to take it back and exchange it for the Samsung.... I don't want to spend this much $ and end up with problems down the road. Things LG did better than Samsung: picture quality (!), size for price, motion blur fix might have been better in LG, remote, menus, ease of use were all markedly better in the LG than Samsung model around this price point. 60 hz... yes I do notice some blur when watching...not just sports. Even fast movements by people talking can blur a bit (in both LG and Samsung), along with panning nature landscapes. 120hz will make sense for me when the price comes down. I don't think the price is worth it.
Wish I could have kept the LG. If you're ok with risking possibly having to upgrade in a couple or few years, this is the one for you!
What's great about it: love the picture wizard, value, picture quality
What's not so great: some issues with this model

I had a similar LG model with built in DVR but the issue had nothing to do with that. The Main Module went out after just over 3 yr. It would cost $790 to repair. LG would not even replace just the defective part. I paid $1800 for it new.
What's great about it: Good for 3 yr except set up which took technitians several visits but it was the DVR model.
What's not so great: After 3 yr the Main Module went out. Out of Warrenty. LG would do nothing to replace defective part. Repair cost $790.

I dont know what keith is talking about. Got this baby home, out of the box and hooked up to all three major systems in about 5 min. Gears of War 2 (Xbox 360) BAM like I was in the game. Street fighter 4 (PS3) Sound was great and the picture FLAWLESS. Manhunt 2 (wii) well wii doesnt have awesome graphics on any tv but no lag and vibrant picture. World of Warcraft (pc) this thing is SWEET!! I finally get to play on something where absolutly nothing can hide. the great thing is I can have all systems hooked up at the same time and just switch through the inputs. Overall EXTREMELY SATISFIED. definitely would recommend to any gamer.

Was fighting the plasma vs. LCD battle for a month or so when the time came to upgrade my 27" tube TV. With multiple windows in the room, I knew the Plasma may not be the right choice. Even with tweaking the settings on the Plasma, the glass front was going to be the issue. The LCD was the right choice in my situation. The LG has your standard 4 or 5 basic, preset choices for picture type. It also has an "expert" setting that will allow you to fine tune even further! I didn't play around with other LCD's but for the right price, $579.99, this is a great TV! But with saying all that, the 60Hz refresh rate is noticeable....especially when sitting 6ft, and closer....and certain times, it's noticeable from regular viewing distances of 6-10". But that is the trade off for a good price! I really love the way the colors pop on the LCD, even after tweaking the brightness so it wasn't too harsh, and getting the blacks as black as possible...the picture is still vibrant and colors stay true. I love this set, it looks good, collects dust though....but looks good sitting on the glass table. The sound is average I'd say. It's fine for what I use it for. Out of most TV's you aren't going to find top quality sound anyway....it does just fine. All in all a good choice for me....didn't think upgrading to the 120Hz LCD's was worth the cost. No S-video input, but hey, it's 2010.
What's great about it: Multiple ways to tweak the picture setting!
What's not so great: 60Hz refresh rate does show up on fast action.

I bought this TV coming from an LG 37" 720 LCD. I loved that 37" so I went with another LG. I was almost instantly disappointed with the move. The motion blur was atrocious.
Gaming, especially in dark scenes is virtually un-playable. I gave the set about 2 weeks and a lot of adjustments. It never improved.
The terrible motion blur prompted me to do a little reading. Apparently LG changed the panel in the newer models from S-IPS to AUO VA. The AUO panels have terrible input lag and make gaming a headache. Don't be fooled by the advertised 5ms response time. That is with the IPS panel.
I exchanged this LG for a TC-P42U1 Panasonic 1080p plasma and I couldn't be happier. The plasma has 10x better color, 10x better contrast and 0 motion blur.
What's great about it: The speakers are suprisingly good for a flat panel. Also has a decent amount of features with a nice menu interface.
What's not so great: Worst motion blur/input lag I've ever seen.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
