What's great about it: Easy ;setup, good picture and contrast
What's not so great: Had a bright spot in one area...seems to have cleared up a bit.
"Nice picture, easy setup.
HDMI inputs are on back (one on side) and cables hit the wall with a close wall mount. Tends to tip the tv slightly up. Should have set the connectors deeper on the back or mounted all HDMI on side."

What's great about it: price, picture quality, features
"I primarily watch Blu-ray movies in 24p mode, and I have no complaints. Picture quality is excellent for the price, crisp and colorful. The blacks may not be as dark as more expensive screens but that doesn't justify the huge price jump in my opinion. The built-in isf wizard is an extra bonus and ensures you get a generally calibrated picture for your viewing environment. I only gave 2 stars for sound because well.. tiny built in speakers can only do so much. Use your stereo instead."

What's great about it: Great picture, easy set up, competitive price.
What's not so great: Nothing negative to say about it.
"Great TV. One thing that was particularly thoughtful about this TV was the way it was packaged. The outer carton was banded with 2 heavy duty plastic bands. When I got it home I just set the unit upright, cut the bands, and, since the sides of the carton were unattached to the top and bottom, the carton just lifted right off and the TV was sitting there in the styro packaging base. No wrestling with it getting it out of the package. The TV was very easy to set up, has a nice, simple remote and works flawlessly. Another quality product from LG."

What's great about it: great picture with very easy setup.Even customizing the picture and sound was easy.Sound's ok for TV
What's not so great: Nothing's really bad but the layout of the remote could be better.
"This was an easy choice, the price was right and the reviews I found online were mostly good. Not a lot of bells and whistles but enough options for most people. Picture quality is excellent And Setup couldn't be easier."

"I was looking for a 40+ inch tv and found this one. I can only say 1 thing... WOW ! I love the picture for the price. I got mine cheaper then posted. I use a Bose system so I cant say anything about the sound. Features are nice for me. If your looking for a Great TV Under $650 this TV is for you. You wont go wrong."

What's great about it: Picture is clear as day, setup was brainless with included instructions, and the price is great for the quality.
What's not so great: Sound could use more bass, Wish remote could be universal (nitpicking, really)
"Bought this TV in the store. It was the same price as a similarly-featured Toshiba 40", but had larger screen and better sound. Slightly cheaper than 40" Sony with similar features, but not worth the extra money for the Sony name. As soon as we mounted this TV on the wall and hooked up our HD cable box via HDMI, WOW! The picture quality was perfect right out of the box, no adjustment needed, but I may get a calibration tool to fine-tune the picture. Other reviews here are negative on sound, but it is plenty loud for my living room, and currently keep it around 25%-30% of the maximum. The only thing I can see getting a sound system for is for more bass or surround sound. Buy this TV, most non-a/v geeks will love it!"

"This is the best deal out there for a large 1080p TV. For $614.99, this can't be beat. Sure, you could spend much more and get better features, such as a higher fresh rate, but I don't notice a significant difference. I have watched general TV, sports, and movies, and this TV has not let me down. Save some of your hard earned money and buy this TV!"

"It's nice to use as a distant computer monitor for multi-tasking. Big screen allows to place 6-8 windows with good resolution.
However, the built-in speakers do not reproduce the whole range of pitches while playing music.
Good for its price."

What's great about it: Excellent Picture
What's not so great: no SD slot for photos
"I purchased this TV on the January 29th and was pleasantly surprised that they had lowered the price even further. I wanted a really good TV without spending a fortune and settled on this LG. My main concern was picture judder that LCD Tv's are prone to during fast HD motion. The 120HZ and 240HZ are supposed to take care of that but cost a lot more of course. It's supposed to be due to the faster response time in the liquid crystals. Although this LG is only 60hz it has a response time close to or on par with many of the 120hz's and let me be honest, "This TV virtually eliminates all judder in the picture even watching sports". The picture is great and the sound is very good with a decent amount of bass. I don't usually take the time to write reviews but I wanted to let everyone that is shopping for a TV to know that they can end their search here. I did hours of research on the difference between the HZ specs. The HZ ratings alone do not guarantee a smooth HD picture. This LG is as good or better than most of the lower end 120HZ Tv's. Save yourself some money unless you are rich and get the best tv I've seen under a 1000 dollars."

What's great about it: Set up simple. Picture is great. Great for movies and sports
What's not so great: Sound is OK but don't care I use surroundsound
"I couldn't afford the 120 hz for my bussiness so saved money on 60 hz. I have to tell you it's not that big of a deal. I have the LG 55" with 240hz at home but paid $1999.99. Love that one too but I really have to say unless your really trying to find flaws this is a great set. The audio is just Ok but no lip sync problems. It's a flat panel. I haven't heard any brand with with great audio. I suggest hooking it up to a surroundsound system. Paid well under $1000. I say go for it!"

"I purchased this tv yesterday on sale for $649.99. I was in the market for a 37-42" LCD monitor and had comparing the quality and prices of LCD monitors since November. This LG monitor stood out from the rest in the 42" class in the price range I was looking for. The picture quality is great. There was a minimal difference in quality from this model and the LH40 42inch model and didn't think the difference was worth $200 more. Set up was quick and easy and I was watching it within 20 minutes of getting it home. Although I have only had the tv for a day, I have not experienced any of the issues some of the customers mentioned in past reviews. Best Buy offers a 4 year protection plan for the television that would send someone to your home to fix the issue and pay for the part or replace the tv (even a newer model if this one is discontinued) if it is unable to be fixed. I initally turned down this plan but after hearing some of the issues with the screen over time, I will be going back and adding the plan. Overall, I think this is an excellent tv for the price. I would definitely recommend it for anyone in the market for a 42 inch monitor at a great price."

Great display - audio is out of sync

What's great about it: Picture looks great. Menu systems is easy to use.
What's not so great: Audio is out of sync on both HDMI connected video sources.
"I have my new 42LH30 connected to a Comcast HD DVR/cable-box and a Sony DVD player, both via HDMI. Both video sources are also connected to an AV-receiver via optical audio cables. The audio that comes out of the TV is out of sync with the picture, however the audio that comes out of the receiver is perfectly in sync. This has forced me to turn off the TV speaker in order to enjoy movies and HD programming. A quick Google search shows that this issue is well known and has existed since early 2009. I've contacted LG and will wait for their response, but in the event that I don't receive prompt support, this TV is going back."

"I bought this tv having already owned an HD 720p LG and LOVED IT!. Do not like this 42inch. It was difficult to get picture started. Customer service said it was my direct tv box not recognizing 1020p. Fine.. So I switched HDMI cable wires and seems to be ok now. Had switch HDMI ports too..But have been trying to adjust color and picture is not that great. My old tv was more clear and vibrant. Very dissapointed. Also sound is not good at all. Again, my 37 inch had better sound. Will give this tv a few more days to try and adjust color / sound before returning. Also seems like other have had alot of problems with this model"

What's great about it: Great picture, low price, quality electronics
"I opted for the lower-priced 60hz version. Standing in Best Buy looking at all the offerings, one can easily see the difference between 1080 and 720, and one can easily recognize the improved clarity of higher contrast ratios, but I saw no perceptible difference between the 60hz model and the higher-priced 120hz option.
Quality is great. Available connections are plentiful. And one detail that really stands out to me is the ridiculously simple remote control. I wish all my electronics came with such an easy-to-use remote control.
At the end of my decision-making process, I found one other similar unit at a comparable price, a Samsung if I remember correctly, and I asked the sales girl if there was any significant difference between the two. Her response: "I've seen plenty of Samsungs come back, but I've never seen an LG come back."
Sold."

"Bought the TV for an adult son. He choose the brand over the cellphone while I stood in the store, and even talked to the salesman over the cell. TV was chosen for LG brand and the price. Best thing about the whole sale is that it was purchased in AZ and picked up by son in CA. Best Buy transacted this purchased effortlessly. I asked my son, how is the TV, and he said great ... so that is the review, lol"

What's great about it: Full HD 42" TV for less than $700
What's not so great: only 60hz, sound quality
"This is a great TV for the price. I bought the extra black tie protection because I read a few reviews that mentioned screen blackouts down the road and I just wanted the peace of mind. It's only 60hz, but I just didn't see enough of a difference in the 120 to make me want to pay the extra for it. Also, the sound quality is not too great from the little speaker on the back of the unit, but these TV's are designed to be used with external speakers. All in all I have had the TV for about a month now and it is still as awesome as it was the day I brought it home. Good job LG."

"I bought this LG in October and I'm very pleased.It has 1080p picture which is awesome.The sound on the set is great,so clear.It has a quick Menu and easy to use.It has a real sharp look to it to.Everyone that see's it loves it.Worth the money.And I got a 4 year plan aswell.
