What's not so great: Unreliable CD/DVD drive and Op System
In 2 months I have trashed dozens of CDs and DVDs, especially DVD DLs. Not Nero, Roxio nor Cyberlink have consistently been able to write any of the disks above. Sometimes yes, sometimes no. Did just 1 in 6 attempts at a DL by reducing the write speed to lowest (4X) but it did not work the next time.
The PC freezes for nor reason that I can see and the Disk Drive will refuse to open if the PC runs into a read/write problem.
My bad, I did not look for a Serial Port before buying and was surprisede when it wasn 't there.Palm Device, Scanner and an External HD are examples of hardware that would not set up.

What's great about it: not much
What's not so great: died aftger 4 months.
HP CPU died after 4 months. It was very unreliable and constantly "froze" or locked up. Components (ie motherboard) were not the greatest quality. Not a good guy for the price and the low quality and reliability. Customer service no help, solution is to ship the cpu to HP at my own cost with no guarantee on a time frame to repair or replace.

What's great about it: Cheap Price
What's not so great: Disk drive crashed after 32 days.
This is a terrible product. The hard-drive failed 32 days after I purchased the computer. I spent over an hour with HP Customer Service trying to "fix" the problem and then it took 4 days to get a replacement hard drive. So, if you can deal with a major system failure and slow support, this is your machine.

What's great about it: It's fast, with great speed and graphics for PC games and Internet
What's not so great: have from any problems with it so far with what I use it for I
I've had a old HP pavilion for about 7 years so I was familiar with how well and lasting HP computers can be. It is fast and I can run multiple programs without it slowing down. My only problem so far is is lack of USP ports since I can't plug in many of my accessories: ipod, camera, cell phone etc...

What's great about it: Easy set up with complete, helpful instruction book.
What's not so great: Nothing,so far
This HP computer just feels like quality. Super fast, easy set up,excellent Best Buy advice make this computer a joy.
I have been working it hard for a week and so far, I can't slow this baby down. Will it last? Time will tell.
The machine is whisper quiet and I have found Vista to be a great operation system with plenty of explanations about it's features and HOW TO USE THEM!
I bought this as a sale bundle including a beautiful monitor and printer. This was an unbeatable Best Buy price.Noone came near their low price and I feel they will back their merchandise. I LOVE this computer.

What's not so great: 100mb LAN card, give me a break
For the price, a fantastic, fast machine with everything.
Downside, never imagined a desktop machine with these features would only have a 100mb LAN card, didn't even bother to check the specs before I bought, my bad. Expected 1gb, now I'll need to add what should have been included.
Other than that, highly recommended.

What's great about it: Simple setup -- surprised at having a DVI interface
What's not so great: The keyboard could be better, more like laptop keyboard than old style tall keys
You can't beat the price. I had a AMD 64 MB go bad and needed a new machine quickly. Build or buy. Enough with the building. Did remove some of the preinstalled software, however. Have not tried all the features, but noticed the quad and 6G was handling VISTA. First time with VISTA so coming from XP, I'll have wait to see if I love it or hate it.

What's great about it: CPU, HDD, RAM, Wireless.
What's not so great: Video Card.
Purchased this desktop in late May 2009 with an ACER H233H monitor. I am extremely satisfied with my purchase. The computer is quick and quiet. The only knock I would give it would be it's video card. It is on board graphics. Will be purchasing an after-market GPU. Overall, an excellent purchase.

What's great about it: Price, features, 6gb RAM, and runs quiet
What's not so great: Bundled software, but that's what you get with a pre-config retail PC, easy enough to remove though.
This is not a gaming machine, and since I don't play games this was a great choice for me. Has plenty of room for upgrades if/when needed. This PC is fast, quiet and has plenty of storage space.
I bought this computer to replace my old HP Pavilion 560 that needless to say was well past it's prime. Set up was fast and easy. Quickly removed all the bundled software and made my back-up recovery disks. You have to download a remover tool from Semantic to fully remove Norton Internet Suite. Removing it through Add/Remove Programs left my internet connection shot to &^%%, but after running the remover tool all was well again. Loaded my own (i.e.: FREE) AntiVirus/ Malware software.
The switch from XP Pro to Vista was seemless. All of my previous software/ hardware works flawlessly, though most of it was fairly recent/new anyway. If you are trying to run a 6-7 year old printer or out-dated software on this machine (or any vista PC) - sorry about your luck. Printers are cheap and software is updated all the time. It is the same deal with any new OS.
I have always had a great experience with HP products (PC's, printers, and cameras), and would recommend this computer to anyone willing to listen.

What's great about it: Very easy to set up, Fast, Quiet
What's not so great: Nothing so far
I was forced to buy a new computer after my Toshiba Satellite laptop caught a Trojan virus and "died" on me. Initially I was going to look for a new laptop and did all the research on the one I was going to get. I went in BestBuy and saw this computer. I'm not one to make this kind of purchase without checking out reviews first. After reading the reviews, I decided an HP desktop would work better for me. The sales girl I worked with answered all my questions and explained differences between the models I was looking at and I decided in this one. It was part of a package deal with monitor and printer. It came out cheaper to get the package even though I didn't need the printer (I just gave it to a friend of mine since she needed a new one anyway). I got it home and set it up in 5 minutes.
I've been trying to figure out why people have issues with Vista; so far I haven't had any issues with it and don't see what's so bad about it.
The computer is fast and runs quiet. I'm adjusting to the keyboards "mushy" keys but that's a very, very minor complaint. I like the fact that it has USB ports in the front that are hidden. I've been able to install software I needed and uninstall preloaded software that I didn't need with ease. The speakers aren't the loudest but that's an easy fix---I added my own speakers.
So overall, great computer, great price, and I'd recommend it to anyone.

What's great about it: Quick and easy setup, speed, quiet processor, graphics
What's not so great: Only 2 USB slots in front
I bought this computer a couple days ago as a bundle, and I couldn't be more pleased. I've been wanting to replace the family computer, a very outdated Compaq Presario, with my own personal computer for quite some time and when I saw the bundle Best Buy was offering I jumped on it.
Once the computer was hooked up, I could not believe how slick the set up was. Fast, easy and it took under 5 minutes. The screen is beautiful, graphics are sharp, vibrant and very clean, which is important for me because I am a Graphic Design student.
The processor is incredible. 6 GB of RAM is plenty of power to handle demanding programs, but you can expand the RAM up to 16 GB if you need to. Also, this computer doesn't come with speakers, and you'll need to create your own back-up discs (They give you the option of using 3 regular DVDs or 2 Dual layer-DVDs) which surprisingly took just under an hour to do.
If you're a person with any portable devices, don't be turned off by the fact that it looks like there are no USB slots in front of the PC. They are there, but they are hidden. Below the expansion bay there is a lip that flips open to reveal 2 USB ports, a headphone jack, a microphone jack, and 1937 port.
To me, this is quite clever because it keeps dust from getting inside these ports, which can cause them to not work right, but it also makes the PC nice to look at.
Overall, this computer is a great deal for the money. I suggest keeping an eye out for this bundle, because for under $800 this is one of the better computers out there.

What's great about it: It worked for a while
What's not so great: It crashed after 5 hours of use
05/10/09 Sunday: I just bought this computer and brought it home. Set up is very easy. Not many frills as far as free software goes. Well, after I set it up, downloaded all my backed up files to it, it simply froze up. No BSOD, Alt ctrl del did not work. I mean it was frozen solid. I turned it off manually (since I could not use the task manager) and when I turned it back on, it would not come on. IT WAS FROZEN SOLID. Because of this I must give this the poorest rating that I can. I don't know if this was just an anomoly or what.. I "may" exchange it for the same thing. If I do I will update the rating accordingly.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
