Great TV, Great Price

We looked at sooo many TV's before deciding on this one. The price was right for the size we wanted. We were even more surprised when we got it home and the picture was 10 times better than it was in the store. Set up was a breeze. We also bought the warranty that Best Buy offers just in case there are any problems down the road. So far - so good! We really love it!
What's great about it: Great Price, Easy set up, Great Picture
What's not so great: Haven't found anything yet!

The size is perfect my a mid-size living room. Picture quality is great for watching HD and Blue-ray movies. Would recommend separate home theater system to enjoy sound on movies.

Easy setup, great picture, great looks! I compaired the LG with Samsung, Sony, Toshiba and the LG is better and cheaper. Can't go wrong with this one. It replaced a 42 inch Sony and the size difference is great. Everyone else has a 46 inch, so for less money you get a bigger screen. I'd been thinking about getting a bigger TV for about 6 month and I'm so glad I did it!
What's great about it: Big beautiful picture!

We purchased the TV for the Super Bowl but when we attempted set up the picture was in the wrong format and was not coming to us in Hi Def.
We called Comcast Cable Support and they couldn't find a solution. We finally disconnected the Comcast Box and the TV's tuner found a feed that was accidently being sent though our cable wire. We were able to watch the game in Hi Def without the cable box. Comcast told us that their system was "under repair' and that this "feature" would be soon be unavailable?
The next day and after another hour with Comcast Support they were finally able to find a special code that needed to be entered into the cable box that made our set compatible with the cable system.and everything has been fine since.

I am very disappointed with this tv, it has horrible motion blur wether watchingcable or blu-ray. My older LG 37" that was 720p/60hz had a better picture . Iwas hoping with a 1080p my picture quality would increase. instaed the opposite. it"s been less than 3months and i already want sell it and get something better!!!!
What's great about it: It"s bigger than my last TV
What's not so great: Horrible motion blur

I did see some reviews that mentioned a lip synch issue (sound and picture not perfectly synched), but they were so few that I took a chance. THIS TV DOES HAVE A LIP SYNCH ISSUE. The difference between the picture and sound went from barely noticable to maybe .25 second delay of the sound. I hooked my Comcast cable box up to my home receiver via an optical audio cable and didn't have the issue when listening through my home theater system.
I called LG customer support and they acknowledged that this TV has a lip synch issue when using an HDMI cable. They put me in touch with a local technical service and they were at my house within 3 days to update the firmware on the TV. Now that the firmware is updated the issue is resolved.
Now that the issue is resolved I love this TV. The picture is great. When first powering the TV on, the picture looked kind of wierd. I had read reviews indicating that the "Tru Motion" can make the picture look strange. I turned that off and the picture looked better. I couldn't be happier with the picture on this TV - espescially for the price.
The sound of this TV is about what you would expect. Nothing special, but definitely adequate.
I also like the Matte finish of the screen. I have windows directly across from the TV and there is absolutely no glare.
I would recommend this TV to anyone with the disclaimer that they should expect to either run the audio through a home theater system or expect to work with Customer Service to get the firmware update to fix the lip synch issue.

I had the Geek Squad and do the consultation and then come out and set up everything including the television stand. I believe what makes the package complete is the Denon surround sound system I purchased. It is a GREAT surround system for the price. I probably could have gone with the 52" LG LCD but, the 47" is nice. The 47" is the size recommended to me by Best Buy so that is why I went with it. I was torn between the LCD and Plasma but, I have a 12 ' window and didn't think I could have dealt with the glare.
I am a HUGE Nascar fan and there is nothing like watching the races on HDTV with the surround sound! Go Dale Jr !

This is a great TV. The first TV I have ever bought. I was doing research on all the tv's from 40" - 50".. I am glad that this one is in my living room. I have an HDMI cord from my PS3 and my Direct TV and it is the best picture I have seen. On some of the shows on TV it accually looks like im their and im the one recording it. I mainly got it for my ps3 to play Modern Warfare 2, and playing it on there is an amazing experience. Love it. I wish my bedroom could fit a 47" in their cause i would get another one for in their.
What's great about it: Picture is awesome
What's not so great: They could have improved the sound quality a little better

Bought this on sale recently for a great price. Very satisfied with picture quality, ease of set-up, and style. The only negative at this point is the fact that the user manual is on cd. Environmentally this is a good idea, but it does make easy reference a pain.

Went into Best buy planning to purchase a Samsung. After speaking with salesperson and looking at all th TV's for a long time, I decided on the LG. I really detest glare on a TV, this TV has little to no glare. The price was fantastic, cheaper than the Samsung. This picture is amazing. Picture wizard walked me right throught to assure a perfect picture. I also purchased a LG blu ray player that is internet connectable. The TV automatically recognized the blu ray with the simplink connection. I am totally happy with my purchase.
What's great about it: Easy set up,picture wizard is a bonus, low glare
What's not so great: nothing so far

For our first HDTV, what an experience. Easy hook-up to satellite and PS3. Hi def quality is outstanding. SD is still very good.
What's great about it: First HDTV. Wow!!! Great picture and easy to set up.
What's not so great: Nice sound. Planning on upgrade to surround sound

I just hooked up this tv after getting it at my local best buy for 949.99 and it was well worth the price. I hooked up my PS3 via HDMI and the picture quality is amazing. I don't have it tweaked the way I want just yet but it looks wonderful right out of the box.

I was going to buy a $100. cheaper Samsung that a competetive big box store had, but found they had raised the price to about equal to the pricing on the LG 47" at best buy. The LG is a "higher level set".
While I am favorably impressed with the picture quality of Samsung products but the LG 47LH40 has the 120 Hz, has speech clarity and commercial level volume features. The screen is low reflective and better for off center viewing than a 40" Samsung I also have.
There are more RCA connectors for inputs.
The Menu is quite complete. It and the remote are fairly intuitive, which is good because the "manual" is scant.
My only hope is that it can come close to the set it replaces in serving trouble free for near 20 years!
I've heard LG wants to be one of the top 3 TV mfgs and they have their chance at it if they hold up well!
What's great about it: Price
What's not so great: Salesperson pitches warrantee extension hard as if it is prone to break down!

Amazing picture quality, easy to set up. We don't use the sound because it is hooked up to a home theater system. Lots of connections for Wii, PS2/3, DVD etc. The refresh rate is by far the best feature... sports look so clear. The Super Bowl was awesome to watch. And for $1K, this TV is a great value.
What's great about it: Lots of HDMI, Component connections, picture quality, refresh rate for sports

The LG gave me the best picture in the store and at home. The set-up was very easy for two people, and from the first time I turned it on, the picture was amazing. There is ease in connecting Bluray and gaming consoles, and it is simple to switch from cable to Bluray to games. The volume has a wide range, so the set can be played as loudly or softly as desired. Now that the prices have come down from a year or two ago, I would definitely recommend this tv.
What's great about it: Instantly great picture; very easy set-up; sound better than most

I spent over 3 months on researching TVs, I looked at several brands and at a few different stores, I was originally interested in buying Samsung 46 inch that was on sale for $1,099, what drew my attention to this TV was that it was on sale for $100.00 cheaper and it was 1 inch bigger. When I went it to the store to see this TV I was very impressed with the picture and the sleek look of the TV and was very happy with the price. I have had the TV for about a week and a half and I really love this TV. The picture is so clear that sometimes you feel like you are in the movie. I have Direct TV and the HD channels are almost flawless and the regular channels are pretty good as well, right now I am using a DVD player with HDMI upconverter and it looks really good. I can't wait to get a blu-ray player for this TV. The sound in decent, its not surround sound quality (but it its what you can expect from most of these types of TVs). I will probably invest in a all-in-one blu-ray surround sound system. Hooking up the TV to my DVD player and Cable box was very simple all I did was attach the HDMI cables and the TV was ready to go.

We were really excited about getting this TV.. We bought a new console and my husband spent part of the day hooking it up. 5 min into viewing 1/2 of the picture went haywire- nothing helped!! The other 1/2 was fine but good luck viewing anything that way.... Although it had all the bells and whistles we wanted in a LCD the out come was beyond disappointing. I called tech support w/ no luck. The offered to send out someone to fix it but after less than 24hrs in our house my husband just wanted to see it gone.. Thankfully Best Buy cust. service was helpful with our exchange. We changed it out for a Toshiba model and are so far very happy..
What's great about it: none
What's not so great: bad picture- 1/2 screen vertical mess
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
