What's great about it: Everything, setup was automatic and very intuitive.
What's not so great: Nothing
There is so much to say. This is the easiest DVR player that I have ever used and I have used three different brands over the years. Everything is intuitive. The picture is great and the upconversion is excellent for standard DVDs. I would recomend this DVD player to anyone. The value is excellent and the use and enjoyment is fantastic. My first VCR was a Panasonic. It lasted many years. I am sure this will do the same.

What's great about it: Picture and sound quality are superb
What's not so great: Slow load time.
This is a solid player!!!
After constant tweaking, I found that it's best to use the Multi-Analog audio when watching Blu-Rays and the Digitial Optical audio when watching DVDs.
The Multi Anaolog audio lacked low end punch on DVDs only and the Optical Audio is not nearly as vibrant on Blu-Rays only.
So just use both outputs to your receiver and switch to the one as needed for what you are watching.
The video is superb and everyone is amazed by the overall look and feel on our 73" DLP.

What's great about it: Great picture and sound, especially good upconversion
What's not so great: Haven't found anything yet
The picture and sound are amazing with this player. I expect that from Blu-Ray, but the upconversion of standerd DVD's blew me away! My old Sony DVD player had 1080p upconvert as well, but to compare that player to this one is like night and day.My TV is a 46" Toshiba rear-projection TV with max. 1080i. I have always felt this TV displays of the best rear-projection pictures I had ever seen, and this player shows it's true capability. I am using the 7.1 analog outputs to my Yamaha 7.1 receiver. The channel seperation is great. Very pleased!

What's great about it: It has what I wanted and needed. RCA output for 5.1 surround sound.
Like most Panasonic products this Blue Ray player does the job it was designed for. This also just happens to be one of the very few on the market that meets my very specifice audio/video compatability needs. My old DVD player had RCA audio output in the 5.1 surround sound configuration that goes to my reciever and component video out for the HD input on my 60 inch rear projection TV. (It also has HDMI for that day when I finally go for a flat panel) This BD playe has both and at a very good price to boot. Setup is simple and straight forward with easy to understand screens and a helpful manual.

What's great about it: Picture and audio quality, ease of set up and ease of use
What's not so great: Nothing
After much research I picked up this unit at the local BestBuy. The price was competitive and it was in stock. I chose this unit over the BD60 because of the 7 channel direct audio output. I don't want to replace my Harmon Kardon receiver yet and it does not have HDMI switching. This unit allows me to use HDMI to the Panasonic plasma and the 7 channel audio to the receiver. Both work great. The picture is outstanding as is the audio. It was easy to set up the player and it is very easy to use. I like the eject switch on top as it is handy to use with the way my componebts are stacked. It is a little slow to load but most players are and it is no intolerable. Overall I agree with the majority of reviewers that this is an outstanding player and I recommend it to anyone looking for high quality viewing.

What's great about it: Plays EVERYTHING, good picture quality
What's not so great: Disc load time could be faster, but I have nothing to compare it to
Our first Blu-Ray player; after many reviews, I wanted something that would play ANYTHING (Blu-Ray, DVD, DivX, movies and pictures off a USB stick or external drive)... this will do all of that and more, including YouTube videos or Amazon unBox programs if you connect it to the Internet. I'm not using HDMI, though my TV supports it, as I want to use my video-switching THX receiver, which is old enough to not have HDMI inputs. Therefore, component video cables to the amp, and fiber optic audio, and no complaints on video quality our sync of audio to the picture. Love it after a full month of heavy use. Upgraded the firmware over the Internet as soon as I bought it, which you should do, too--either connect it to your network (not Wi-Fi, but hard wired) and connect it to a TV so you can see the menus/prompts, or you can download the firmware and burn it to a CDROM (or DVD?) and put it in the player, which will then recognize and load the firmware. If the player is connected to the Internet full time, you can browse and view videos online and the player will let you know when new firmware is available.
I gave the "ease of set up" 4 stars only because the manual is complicated, with many many options, due to the many video and audio modes / connections it supports. Took a few minutes to determine which of the modes and cable types would be "best fit" for me, if not using HDMI. For me, the component video cables and fiber optic audio were the best option, and work great.

What's great about it: Like the USB feature which allows me to watch an .avi file straight off my flash drive
What's not so great: like most blue-ray players thus far it doesn't have zoom feature that norm dvd has
I have had this player for a few weeks now and have been pleased with its performance. I have normally gravitated towards Sony players(I have owned many in past) but went with this brand cuz of a deal that included this player with the 50inch Plasma of the same brand. I have downloaded movies in the .avi format which i then transferred to a USB flash drive and plugged it into the USB port on the player and was very quickly watching said movie in moments...which i found to be very nice.
Overall looks and sounds and responds as well as my PS3 as a comparison and have been happy with its performance. The remote is slightly better then a basic no frills remote with large buttons and some control of other products in my system.

What's great about it: Picture quality, connections, simple set up
What's not so great: Response time a bit slow
When I began resarching BD players I was looking at Samsung only. My decision was based on past experience with Samsung, my current DVD player is Samsung, and my LCD tv is Samsung, keep it all in the family I said. The more I researched and compared apples to apples my eye caught this player. I had narrowed my decision down to this unit, the DMP BD60 and the Samsung BD-P3600, which the later received rave reviews on CNET. I am not going to use an ethernet connection, at least not right away so that feature did not affect my decision. I simply wanted a good quality unit that will play the DVD collection I currently have, an opportunity to utilize full 1080p resolution, will be compatible with the HT equipment I currently own, all for a price that does not break the bank. In comparison to the Samsung this unit is a bit shorter in height, is not super glossy black, has gold plated connections, and has coaxial and optical digital audio out. The Samsung however, does include Netflix streaming which may influence others. Once unpacked, I hooked this unit up in about 1.2 minutes flat, turned it on and right away a "simple" setup procedure took place. Slapped in Braveheart BD and Wow!! the scene where they are standing in the forest with fog rolling in the background is nothing short of spectacular. Another very cool feature with this unit is although it is hooked up to a Samsung LCD, the tv recognizes this unit when turned on and automatically switches the source input....awesome!!!! I have read that most BD players operate somewhat slow, and this is definitely slower than the DVD player I own, but it is tolerable and not having to change the source helps a great deal. Once you get into the setup menu there are plenty of user advanced options such as dialogue enhancement, night mode, high clarity sound, multi-channel speaker setup, and much more. So far, I am noticing a significant sound boost and quality with this unit compared to the DVD player. This is a great product and if your are contemplating purchasing this unit, comapre it to the other "big name" brands and you will see this is the obvious choice.

What's great about it: Stellar image quality, high quality build, very stable, sweet design
What's not so great: No complaints
I started out with a Samsung lcd tv and Blu-ray player. The problem is/was that the Samsungs always exhibited malfuctions (skipping tracks, random pauses and 'hiccups') and it drove me absolutely nuts! After returning three Samsung BD players to Samsclub, I decided to go with my gut--I've always had great luck with Panasonic televisions and video equipment, so I bought the dmp-bd80k. This player has s-u-p-e-r-b image/picture quality with Blu-ray discs, and the upconversion with standard dvds is also very good. Upon inspection and usage, it is quite evident that the bd80 is a high-quality, durable machine. It does not scratch easily and has a sleek and elegant design which projects itself as a machine which is above and beyond its price point. For the money, a better Blu-ray player cannot be obtained. If you have a Panasonic tv--their top Blu-ray player is a must-have, or if you just appreciate image quality, reliability and elegant design above all else. I don't care about the wifi/streaming stuff---I'm 'old-school'...just give me something that works every time a put a movie into it! Go get one.

What's great about it: Great Picture Quality
What's not so great: notyhing
Set up was easy and relative quick. Only complaint would be the fact digital optical output is for 7.1 receivers only. Took a few extra minutes to hook up to my older HK 5.1 receiver, as I had to hook direct from player 5.1 outputs to receiver 5.1 inputs.
Very happy with the play back capabilities of this machine. Playbak of Blu-Ray is awesome, and upcoversion is okay. People complained about slower load times but I havent noticed any problems in regards to this complaint.
This unit is hooked up in master bedroom to a Panasonic TC-P42U1 plasma, and I like the Vierra link function. Turn on the BD player, pop in a movie and the the tv automatically detects and switches to the input assigned to BD player. Also I have control of tv and HK reciever through the player remote.

What's great about it: Picture quality, audio quality, load times, YouTube, Viera Link
What's not so great: Price, no Netflix or Pandora
This is a great BD player. I don't know why others have had problems with slow load times; I had this thing setup in less than 5 minutes via HDMI to my Panasonic Viera Plasma and digital coaxial to my Onkyo receiver. Put in a Bluray disc and in a matter of 5 seconds it was playing. I honestly don't know what these slow load times are all about.
Picture quality is great as to be expected with BD; audio is great although I cannot comment on the 7.1 as I only have 5.1. Overall, a great investment though. Movies are awesome, definitely a step up from regular DVD.
The Viera Cast functionality is a nice enhancement. Panasonic has left room for them to expand on the current features, and it would be nice if they one day added NetFlix and/or Pandora to the mix. Currently, you can stream YouTube which is nice and fun. You can also access Amazon Video on Demand (for a price), and Google Picassa albums. All fun additions.
Overall this is a great player and I am definitely glad I stepped up to this model for various reasons. I personally had to because I needed the coaxial digital output that the next model down didn't offer; however the YouTube and additional features were a nice addition as well. I would definitely recommend this player to anyone, especially those with Panasonic TVs; they hook up quite nicely. I have had problems in the past with Sony HDMI devices not handshaking properly with non-Sony equipment.

What's great about it: The picture quality on my panasonic 1080p Plasma is AWESOME
What's not so great: Slow load times
Bought this product at the same time as my Panasonic plasma 1080p tv (back in January 2009) - and it was easy to setup and get going. VieraLink was easy to setup and now th etwo work great togetther. I have not experienced any audio drops, and the picture quality is second to none. the output to my home theater system works fine, again no audio drops. SD dvds work great as well. Biggest complaint is the slow load times, I know it's only a few seconds but it seems longer compared to the other disk players and especially when compared to PS3. Have not compared picture quality against PS3 but am curious to try and compare the two.

What's great about it: 7.1 analog outs, adjustability of speaker distance/size/db levels, no problems with firmware updates or reading disks
What's not so great: SD upconversion could be better as well as BD load times. Lack of netflix or pandora. No internal memory or WiFi dongle.
Those that have had problems with the sub output, make sure you've changed the output to PCM (so the player decodes) instead of the default Bitstream and also turn off the HDMI audio output. Once I did this, and enabled multichannel in on my reciever, my sub worked correctly. From what I've seen 9x out of 10, issues in this area are due to user error in setup.
I also noticed there wasn't a need to adjust the LFE with this unit as I expected with most analog out BD players. The load times are about the middle of the road compared to others. The BD PQ and AQ are great, but the DVD upconversion is so-so and appeared somewhat dingy and grainy on my 65" Mitsu DLP. In changing the HDMI out from 1080p->720p->480P in the settings, I noticed some motion blur and jaggies on DVD's the lower I went. I never experienced this with my old JVC DVD player on the same tv.
I was actually most impressed with the audio of the player using it's built in decoders. It also plays CD's very clean with good range in highs/lows. I've only watched 3 BD's, but experienced no BD read problems, errors or skipping. Firmware updated easily to v1.9 via ethernet connection.
I wish the player came with a wireless dongle and more on-demand content options, though Amazon on-demand should be available soon if not already. The DVD upconversion could be better, but for the price range, dependability, features, etc it is a good player. I may get a Pioneer 320 to test side by side as it is supposed to have slightly better PQ/AQ and includes 1GB internal memory, but I'm not sure if it will be worth the trade-off for even slower load times and no on-demand content period.
I would normally rate this as a 4, but since there appears to be several lower reviews due to user error, I'm giving it a 5.

What's great about it: pictures, upconversion
What's not so great: Sound-it looses sound. U73 error code sometimes.
I bought this because it had all kinds of features on sound and was on sale $100 less than MSRP. but turned out to be mistake.
First of all the response from the unit when I enter commands from the remote, is rather slow. Is it because it is a Java based applicance unit?
Second, the USB port can only see up to 128GB where as Pioneer 320 can see all the way up to 2TB respectively according to documentation of both players.
Third, the loading time is slower than Samsung even though some where 5 seconds per disc difference but it is a differnce to be noticed.
Fourth, and the most of all, the sound dies sometimes during the movie play. it happens on both STD DVD and BD DVD, but it comes back. but makes you not enjoy the movie. I saw somebody else mentioning this. this maybe a major flaw with this unit. too bad. some other units maybe ok. but I did not want to take a chance and replaced it with a Samsung unit.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

What's great about it: sound, picture
What's not so great: none
I think this blue ray panasonic is very good, picture and sound very good
I connect my blue ray which my LCD HDTV ToshiBa 40', 120hz by Monster cable 900.
The picture will increse up and more clear even I use the normal DVD, and
more sharp and clear with the Blue ray DVD.
Oh, I just go head and give them 5 star
I would recommend this to a friend!
