What's great about it: Nothing stands out. Half the time it doesn't even know where it is!
What's not so great: It's useless without the upgrades and upgrades crash and wipe the I/O device!
"I'm sorry I bought this and I thought it was great until I tried to upgrade the device with new maps! Well here we go! This is my 3rd and last garmin! The unit has a fatal flaw that wipes the I/O device and renders it useless. Your only remedy for this is to either send it to garmin and wait for them to fix it, (yeah, I'm holding my breath for that!) or exchange it and do without the upgrade (good luck on finding addresses without this!) or get your money back. I'm going for the last part and getting my money back. As an HVAC serviceman, this has cost me more wasted time and my Palm Treo with google maps is more reliable!"

What's great about it: It usually works
What's not so great: satellite finding is slow, battery life is weak
"The satellite connection is slow. Even when connected, if you miss a turn it takes another 200 ft for the unit to realize you missed the turn. My wife has a garmin 260w that is instantly updated. This unit was supposed to be better, but it it worse. The FM traffic updater is useless. 40 minute backup at the bridge during my commute shows up as a 5 minute delay. Bluetooth connectivity does not work with my phone. Otherwise it is decent."

What's great about it: Everything
What's not so great: Power cable when charging in vehicle
"I had a nuvi 350 for a few years and then it died so it was time for a new one.
Even though its not listed the 265wt comes with a usb cable. This one has a couple extra features that the 350 didn't . This thing lists the posted speed limit on the screen. Its not always correct but is pretty accurate most of the time updating a change in posted speed as you are passing the sign.
Two things I dont like about this one the 350's vehicle charging cable plugged into and stayed atached to the cradle for the window mount, with this one it conects directly to the gps unit. The other thing is it does not work with MapQuests feature to download routes and maps to your Garmin product.
Over all this is a great product."

What's great about it: My Wife Kathy never get lost driving Again! Nice Price and Salesmen are wonderful!
What's not so great: There is nothing negative about this extra driver in your Car!
"I never thought we would get much use from it! Boy I was wrong. Navigate your way easily with this GPS that features an integrated FM traffic receiver and turn-by-turn voice prompts so you can stay focused on the road while driving. The Where Am I? function informs you of nearby hospitals, gas stations and more.
My wife Kathy has to bring me to the Hospital alot, and we never have to worrie about getting Lost! Thanks Ken"

What's great about it: Ease of operation, precise,great features

"Worked right out of the box, downloaded update maps with ease, free cars are great offline.
I took a trip the day after I purchased the unit and had to learn on the go, I set my destination and off we went. First thing was to setup blue tooth, it was easy as setting up any other bluetooth device. We were in a major city when the voice command said stay left and there were two lanes for N and two for S. This can be confusing so be aware of stay left in the right set of lanes. Unit hung up once after a phone call was ended and had to reboot but has never happened again. The lane arrows are too large when the screen is filled in 3d so this is not a good setting in major cities. I read a previous review that said you had to keep pressing the back key but all you have to do is hold it down and you;re back to main menu. The traffic feature save us about 30mins driving time around heavy construction. Great unit."

"First GPS, search long and hard, Consumer reports said it was one of the best, so I went with it. Took trip next day and no problems, right to my location. Now my wife wants to go to Seattle, from Florida, naaa! Not right away! Too much driving! But I still will travel more and throw away a lot of maps!"

"We needed a GPS going on a trip to the St Paul area. This unit got us there and then enabled us to get to several locations in the area. Our Camry has a built in GPS and this Garmin unit is 10 times better. The voice prompts work fine. The good size screen shows you how far to the next adjustment in your route, It tells you when you should arrive at your destination. It sets up quickly, recalculates quickly and just gets you where you want to go. We have not yet used the FM traffic feature or the hands free cell phone feature."

"i used to have a tomtom, it was awesome, the only bad thing about it was that it was loosing sattlite sometimes when you turned it on...so this time i bought a garmin, at first it sounded very cool. i read all the reviews and everyone was so happy about it, but after i got the gps, its not what i thoght it would be, first of all it doesnt tell u what to do till only 0.3 Miles from action, it means if you're driving 70 or 80 Mph you dont have time to do anything!!! the other thing is after 2days using it, it started making wired sounds. im telling u tomtom is wayyyy better. everything about tomtom is better, even the menu or details it shows you on screen or ....."

What's great about it: Wide screen color display and amazing traffic updates (how they do that?).
What's not so great: Sometimes I will search for a point of interest I know is close by and it won't find it.
"I went in to the store not planning to buy this nuvi model, but the more expensive 855. Wouldn't you know it, they were out of that one...but hey here's this 265wt. Looks cool. Good features...what! Lifetime traffic...that sounds pretty cool. I live in So Cal and commute...that's certainly something I can use. Look at that...it's $30 cheaper, too. So, I bought it and was pleasantly surprised by all the features it has. just as much if not more than the 855. It didn't come with lifetime traffic. In fact I don't know what it came with that makes it such a higher number and more expensive. I don't get Garmin's numbering/order of things, but they did a good job creating and producing the 265WT!"

"i finally got my husband to get us a gps since i am new to our location & timid on venturing out of my normal route for fear of gettin lost... i am very confident in our new gps unit. it speaks street names which was a must for me & it even has a speed limit notification which in our parts is a key feature. there seems to be loads of functions we still haven't explored yet - it did locate a nice seafood place that we dined at another great feature.we got this for a great pricce and look forward to using it more!
i was disappointed in the garmin cases they aren't very good according to the reviews - so i am looking for something better to protect our new investment. can't wait to take our next trip so we can use our gps"

What's not so great: Nothing
"Great wide screen format for low cost. Lots of POI in the database. Recalculation time is pretty good on a reroute.
My morning commute is much easier with the free real time traffic. There are advertisements but not intrusive to the usability.
My daughter loves the GeoCaching items I added by visiting the garmin.com website."

"I've been looking for a GPS for home use for quite some time, and did quite a bit of research before settling on the Garmin 265WT. Right out of the box, it's easy to use. I would highly recommend it to anyone. The wide screen is a plus and to be honest the traffic capabilities are a huge plus too. I tried to use the bluetooth capability and hook my cell phone up to it and it also worked great. In fact, people (well my daughter actually) told me that she could hear me better via the GPS than my speaker phone. This one is definitely a keeper."

What's great about it: HotFix Feature Works Amazingly - Finds its location near instantly

"I just purchased this unit and have found it to be one of the best GPS units I have ever used. Out of the box, from a full cold start, it found its location accurately within 20 seconds or so (most units I have seen before take a few minutes). Garmin's new HotFix feature actually works as advertised. Whenever I emerge from a signal dead zone (like a parking garage) the unit finds itself almost immediately. My old Magellan would take at least a minute, if not several to do so.
Also this unit has amazingly fast route recalculation response time. I purposefully drove against its directions and it realized and had a new route with a new direction within 5 seconds or less. Again my old Magellan would take about 30 seconds to a minute to recalculate (taking about 10 seconds just to realize I had gone the wrong way).
The user interface is also very intuitive and easy to navigate. The features are great. EcoRoute actually gives me usual information, providing estimates of my fuel consumption and and even costs incurred, all based on my vehicle type, fuel type, gas mileage, and its tracking data.
The only issue I have had so far is that the Bluetooth Speakerphone on this unit has so far been only satisfactory. Most calls have been intelligible, but I often get told that I can just barely be understood. I am working on finding a better placement in my car to mitigate this issue.
For the money, this is probably one of your best bets for GPS at the moment."

"I HAVE A GPS BUILT INTO MY CAR THAT IS WORTHLESS COMPARED TO THIS......THIS GPS IS FAR BETTER, EASIER AND SPOT ON ACCURATE......ENTER THE ADDRESS AND YOU ARE OFF, IT WILL REDIRECT IF YOU GET LOST, A FEATURE THAT I CANT LIVE W/ OUT. YOU WILL NOT BE SORRY FOR INVESTING YOUR MONEY IN THIS GPS. TAKE IT FROM SOMEONE WHO GETS LOST AROUND THE CORNER FROM MY OWN HOUSE."
