It was easy to set up and it automatically linked up to my LG TV. Now when I put in a DVD or Blu-ray disc the TV will switch to the Blu-ray connection without me having to change anything. The picture is great! Crystal clear images. It also loads much faster than my old Blu-ray player.
What's great about it: It's easy to set up and it linked up to my LG TV automatically.
What's not so great: none

I bought this for my hubby for xmas. It only worked a few times. When it DID work - it was cool, but most of the time when we turned it on - the "LG" logo screen displayed while it was "booting"/warming up - then the screen goes blank and you can't see anything - can't even go to the main menu to choose "Netflix" or YouTube or anything. Then pressing the on/off or eject button wouldn't work - until about 2 minutes after you press the button, then it would eject or turn off. So we sent it in to LG for service (had to wait to get a shipping label sent to us - then it cost us $35 for UPS to box/pack it - we just go tit back today - about 2 weeks later and it still doesn't work. At all. Called LG - they want us to send it back again. They won't exchange it for a new one - they want to try to fix this again. By the time we get it back we'd be out of the 90 day parts and labor warranty! So, if it came back still broken - at that point I'd have to start paying for repairs on a DVD player myself - a player that never worked (except for about 6 times). We paid over $300 for a DVD player that we've only got to watch a few movies on and here it is mid-Feb and they want us to send it back so we're out a player for at least another 4 weeks. I finally called Best Buy and their Geek Squad will try to repair it and will bill LG directly for their work. Then their repair will be covered by their repair guarantee. So, we'll see if this thing can get fixed.
What's great about it: The few times that it DID work - it was great. Really cool to be able to watch Netflix movies and YouTube on demand
What's not so great: It only worked 20-30% of the time, we sent it in for service and it came back still not working

I read hundreds of reviews and settled on the LG BD390. I purchased the player Feb 1, 2010. The player was not cheap but it was on sale and the sales person gave me a discount on the Monster HDMI cable that I need to complete the Player to TV hook-up.. I also purchased a two year extended warrenty. I linked the BD390 via HDMI cable to my Panasonic HD TV and wirelessly to my Linksys WRT150N, 2.4 GHz Wireless-N router. My internet provider service met all the requirements as called for in the LG Player manual, as did my wireless N-router.
I am not an electrical IT person and I did not understand much of the terminology in the set-up manual. So, I read the owners manual several times to make sure I was clear on the set-up instructions and had collected all the input data it said I would need to complete a wireless internet connection. Gathering that information was not easy for me either but, I did learn it was all located in the system icons in my computer's contol panel.
First, I set up the player and tried several disc's, all worked well. My router is located on the second floor of my home and the Player and TV are on the first floor. I was concerned about the distance between the two because many of the reviews I had read indicated the Player needed to be near the router. I then went through the wireless network connection process several times. On the third try the system indicated I had successfully connected. I have no idea why it took three tries but, it was helpful that I had read the directions several times and had the input data handy to input when requested.
I have a Netflix account so I followed the player's owner manual instructions to activate Netflix wirelessly. It took me a few minutes to make the activation because I am new to Netflix and not versed in the setting up of an instant que. Once set-up, I was viewing a Netflix streaming movie in a matter of a few minutes. Movie down load time was very fast, just a few seconds.
The total process from Player set-up to viewing disc and Netflix took me about an hour. I think the key to my set-up success was reading the directions several times and having the set-up input information at hand. Overall, the Player set-up instructions need more clarity for easier understanding, The disc play is easy and the picture quality was great, streaming Netflix movies works well and the picture quality is maybe an 8 out of 10, the sound quality is average but, I am still using the TV speakers. Oh ya, the disc tray and the remote are of low quality but they function! I still need to add a sound system and learn more about the available functions. So far I am happy with my purchase.
What's great about it: Blue-Ray, Functions, Wireless Network, Netflix, Lots of Functionality
What's not so great: Some of The Owner Manual Setup Directions Were Difficult to Understand. The Remote and Disc Tray Appear Cheap

After a lot of research, I settled on this player for my 1st foray into the world of HD video. This is an excellent Blu-ray player. The picture is amazing. On my Yellowstone: Battle for Life disc, you can see the snow glisten and every hair on a fox as it searches for prey. Of course, you should be getting a great picture w/ Blu-ray. But w/ this player, the disc loads quickly, and the remote is easy to use. Definately recommended.
What's great about it: Fast-loading, high-quality player at a good price

Wireless set up was a breeze. So far I have no complaints. It plays all my regular DVD's with great picture quality. I'm just now starting to experiment with BluRays. I bought it mainly for the wireless NetFlix capability which has been great so far. We have had to shut down the laptop to get a signal which is no big deal to me.
What's great about it: Very easy to set up and the price was right
What's not so great: remote must be pointed directly at unit to work

This player is the best of the best. I did my research befoe I made my purchase the could not find any bad information. The only thing that I was upset about is that a few days a I purhcased this blu-ray player, I found out that LG is comijng out with the BD590 to replace this. After much research (cnet.com) you'll find that there is no difference between the players except that the BD590 will have a 250GB HDD. I have not been able to find the initial price, but all I can say is that who needs another dirve to back up and since the player connects wirelessly to your network for all the photos and music that you would store on the player, It really is pointless.
What's great about it: Excellent picture quality and the ability to stream audo and video from my server
What's not so great: Does not have a time/text button. Would love to have the ability to see how much time is lert on on the movie

WENT I BOUGHT THIS PLAYER, I HAD THE PANASONIC BD-30. THE PANASONICS ARE THE BEST PLAYERS WE CAN HAVE. THE ONLY BAD THING ABOUT THE LG IS THE PRICE, YOU CAN HAVE A PS3 FOR LESS OR SAME PRICE. PERFORMANCE AND ULTRA FAST LOADING ARE THE SIGNATURE FOR THIS PLAYER, NO PROBLEMS WITH BLURAY AS TODAY.
What's great about it: ULTRA FAST LOADING, PERFECT 1080P PICTURE AND PERFORMANCE.
What's not so great: PRICE, WIFI PERFORMANCE NOT SO GREAT.

Great DVD player. I have set up two of these, one on a 720P TV and the other on a 1080P TV. 1080P picture is phenomenal. Set one up wired and the other wireless. Both are easy. I would recommend this to anyone if price is not a deciding factor.
What's great about it: Wireless, BD Live, Auto updates
What's not so great: Picture through component output good but not perfect. HDMI is only way to go.

This is a great player, it was a little confusing setting it up at first, primarily because I had never used media streaming before but i found that the Nero 4 Essentials Media server was easy to understand and set up and after the short learning curve and setting up network connections I was viewing movies from Netflix, steaming video and music from my PC to my TV through this player.
What about the Blu-Ray? Great picture and this player loads Blu-Ray disks much faster than most players. I found that picture quality for Blu-Rays and DVD's (upscaled) was very good.
I do wish this player had Pandora and Hulu available, maybe in future firmware releases as Pandora is available on some other LG products.
Overall I am very happy with my purchase.
What's great about it: Great picture, Blu-Ray disks load quickly, upscaling very good. Media steaming great plus
What's not so great: Little bit of a learning curve involved, espcially with media server set up.

Are you kidding...this was probably the best purchase I've made thus far. I had been reading about this unit and waiting since last spring for it to come out (because of the wireless capabilities.) If you recall they were a little pricey at first so I waited for the price to drop. I hooked it up in about 10 minutes!!!!! Very easy, the most difficult part was taking my TV off of the mount to connect the HDMI cable to the back (that's a two person job.) It connected to my router effortlessly and I was in business. I signed up for Netflix and was watching HD movies in no time. My wife was a little leery at first about this buy, but she loves the Netflix and Youtube options. We're now able to catch up with all those TV series that we missed going back to season 1. The only drawback, and it's petty, is that when the unit is off and you go back to eject a movie the unit automatically switches your TV to Blue ray mode so you have to switch your TV input back to the cable to watch TV. The good thing is when you pop in your movie the TV automatically switches your input over without touching any buttons.
What's great about it: Picture Quality, Wireless, Netflix compatibility, You tube
What's not so great: Not much

Bought one - the wireless Internet card picked up sporadically but not enough to be useful (even though Apple TV and Wii have no problems). Returned for another, that one would not even load, We called tech support and they said to return it to Best Buy. We did and bought a Samsung which worked perfectly on the first try.
What's great about it: Price was good, extra software
What's not so great: Wireless Internet (Netflix, Pandora, etc.) - would not work on two sets we tried

Does everything it says, super simple to connect to my wireless network, was able to setup a media server on my PC and play iTunes, Videos, and even pictures from my Flickr account. The fact that is supports both Vudu, Netflix, and CinemaNow right out of the box rocks!
What's great about it: Easy to setup, and use.
