I have this fridge for 3 months now. I like the look, the features and the overall layout of the fridge and freezer section.
There are three things that I don’t like about this fridge.
1. The ice maker makes a lot of noise when it drops the ice.
2. The ice dispenser is poorly design. It continues to drop ice after the cup removal. I always have to clean up the ice off the floor.
3. The doors are not self-closing. This takes a while to get used to.

What's great about it: Functional for a counter depth model

After watching this refrigerator go on sale from time to time, I finally pulled the trigger and replaced my side by side counter depth. Samsung fullfills the design side but has some quirks. First, if you need lots of ice, go for the dual ice maker model. The ice maker is loud!!! Middle of the night and at times you may hear ice drop and it will startle you. The ice and water buttons could use backlighting vs. fancy screen icons above that designate ice or water. Guess you need to leave the dispenser light on at night vs. turning on all your kitchen for a glass of water at night? It has a large wide open cool select pantry drawer which forces you to open both doors to utilize it. Wish it followed the same design as the fruit and vegetable drawers that allows you open just one door. Based on the price and financing I received, it was a good deal.

7 mos old and freezer not working. I'm without refrigerator waiting on parts. Samsung would not replace. Have 3 Samsung TVs, stove, microwave, and dryer. Will never buy Samsung again. I even have Best Buy 's extra warranty.

The doors didn't line up properly and as a consequence the air leak caused the freezer to turn into an ice block. I had to return it. On the bright side bestbuy had great service and policies to help me out.

After returning our first counter-depth refrigerator primarily because it was noisy, we are very happy with this Samsung unit. It's quiet and attractive. It's our first French door style, and we like it because we get a clear view of all the food in the fridge. The icemaker looks small, but it makes ice fast enough to keep up with our demand.

What's not so great: interior space is not very large
We needed a refrigerator that fit the space we had and a counter depth refrigerator at that. This seemed to be the only one that Best Buy sold so we bought it. It does not hold very much and would be small for a family. The freezer space is adequate. The right hand door seems not to close tightly. We shall see how it lasts.

What's great about it: Pretty. 4-door design is nice.
What's not so great: Unreliable. Ice/water dispenser is awkward. Deli drawer requires both doors to be open.
Was very excited to replace my old refrigerator which had failed twice, spoiling several batches of groceries. Sadly, my shiny new fridge crapped out last Sunday and I lost another load of groceries and a ton of frozen food. Samsung scheduled a next-day tech visit who didn't show, (no parts) then rescheduled for the following Thursday. Magically, the fridge starts working again right before his visit, and he's unable to find any problems. I'm very nervous.
P.S. The ice dispenser is too short for nearly any large-sized glass, and the water spout points backwards making it impossible to use at an angle. Ice maker is rather noisy, and having to toggle ICE/Water before use is a bothersome extra step.

Because of our setup, the traditional fridge would be a giant eye sore. Overall I'm very pleased when you consider the $$$, paid (1900). PICKY PEOPLE HEADS UP -- The side of the fridge is gray and I'll be ordering a stainless side panel because you can see it and it just looks shady. This may not be an issue to you. The ice maker is SUPER loud when dropping ice. One other small pain is you cant have the right fridge door open when using the water or ice feature. That wasn't the case for me with prior units. Guess its a long term positive on being green. For those who have had traditional size units, there is a bit of adjustment to a counter depth but I see it as a positive as we will probably cut down on spoiled food. Also FYI with the handles it will protrude about 3 -4 inches from the cabinet, so not tru tru counter depths. Most arent.
This product has... No hard to reach spots, good bang for the buck.

I bought the counter depth version which adds on more than a few dollars to the overall cost, but I needed it because of the size of my kitchen. I like everything about this unit (LED lights, shelving, french doors, big freezer) except for the water dispenser. It works fine but the angle the water comes out is a little weird. Instead of pointing straight down, it goes towards the back. It's probably because it's really shallow in depth limiting the size of the container that you can fill. This makes it impossible to fill water bottles. I know it sounds like a small complaint (and maybe it is), but it was enough to keep me from a 5 star rating.

We shop around quite a bit. Almost bought at Nebraska Furniture Mart but Best Buy beat their price by $300! Nice! Still expensive, but for this couter depth style of fridge it was the best deal out there.
The referagator is very quite. Only when the ice dumps into the interior holding bin do you know its running. The ice does make a noticable muffled crash sound. But that is the only negative. All else is quite good. We have adapted to the roll out freezer compartment quicker than I thought we would. The roll out makes for a quicker find and grab then the side by side we had. We like it!

Pros: I wanted a stainless counter-depth refrigerator and the Samsung was an excellent choice. Love the features and operation. The doors do not automatically close, so if you leave one ajar, you hear a repetive reminder chime. You can see everything at a glance. The bottom freezer is great and stores a lot of food.
Cons: Because it is counter-depth, the shelves are not very deep and there is limited space to accomodate tall drink containers or items. The shelves are adjustable and flip up, but you lose shelving space. Next time, I would buy a few more cubic feet.

Needed a counter depth fridge and this one seemed to have most of the features we were looking for. Its great looking and for it's size had adequate storage space.
Summary of experience thus far after 6 months:
*Great lighting
*Somewhat flexible interior setup
*Easy to get at filter
*Looks great when clean, but gets dirty with fingerprints, etc. VERY EASILY
*Love the extra ice bin in freezer (only available at certain retailers)
*Is loud when ice drops but this does not bother us
*Water dispenser is at an awkward angle and does often splash on fridge surface, cleans up so not too concerned about it
*Freezer hard to get to things and EZ access drawer can get stuck if too much in it

Now for what concerns me, after only 6 months the freezer and ice makers stopped working. Same day service is not an option. Ours went down on a Saturday and could not get a service call until Tuesday. Thankfully we had a great service tech who was able to trouble shoot it. Turned out that there was TWO separate freon leaks in TWO separate lines. This seems like a quality of material issue. It seems to be fixed now but we are out a bunch of time and lost a lot of food. If these things happened within 6 months I'm afraid of what may go down the line.
In all fairness, my guess is that no appliances are built to last anymore. Samsung is probably not alone in these problems. Crossing our fingers that we will not have any more big problems down the line.

Not only is this fridge pretty to look at, but it is really efficient. Even though the counter depth is more expensive its worth it if you have a small kitchen space. Its easy to clean, and its features are really cool. It has a deli feature which keeps your breads, fruits, and veggies fresher for so much longer. It beeps if you accidentally do not close the door fully, thus very energy efficient. My favorite of all the appliances i bought.

We recently bought a new house and decided we didn't want to take our old ugly white fridge with us so we bought this one. We had originally picked out a nice big Samsung but after realizing that we had to get a counter-depth one, decided on this one. The fridge has a nice layout and makes good use of the limited space. The only negative thing I can say about it is that the ice maker is loud and runs out of ice quick. It's fine for just the family but anytime we have people over for dinner, it runs out. We have now purchased an ice bucket and buy a bag of ice to use when company comes over.

Yes, the Led light is the highlight of the fridge. Other than that, I cannot recommend this fridge.
I had a hard time finding a good revealing review for COUNTER Depth fridges and had to go through the school of hard knocks in order to post this one. We actually bought this model and had to return it because there was no way this could store the food and odd shapes that accompany a family of 4. Have you ever shopped at Costco? Clearly not if you designed this fridge.
The ice make took up the internal cavity by taking away the door storage and the upper left shelf. You could not adjust the shelves up enough to put a gallon milk carton on the shelf. You could flip up part of the upper shelf and fit your milk, but then you lose the entire upper left shelf (ouch)...
So we went with a fridge that is a mind bender. There is no external water dispenser, but now all our food fits. Isn't that what a fridge is for anyway? We bought the tall 72" french door KitchenAid. The internal water dispenser is great and the space is excellent.
I hope this helps someone else doing this research.

We installed this refrigerator as part of a kitchen renovation in September. We were afraid the counter depth wouldn't provide enough storage space, but it has been great for our family of 3. Water and ice dispenser is fantastic -- you can easily fill water bottles or glasses. When the ice drops it is loud but that doesn't happen very often so it's not an issue. Otherwise, the frig is super quiet -- you don't even know it is running. I like the can holder -- you can have 4 cans chilling in an easily accessible space. Very stylish and great all-around. Freezer holds a lot and the deli drawer is also very handy. Fruit and vegetable bins are perfectly adequate. No complaints at all.

This is a very good refridgerator and keeps our groceries very cold. The water tastes pretty good too. The only negative is the price - somehow counter depths are always more expensive and for less space too. We didn't have room for normal depth refridgerators and found ours open box so it was discounted heavily. If you absolutely have to get a counter depth, this is a pretty good choice. Otherwise stick with "standard" depth Samsungs and save some money.

I just bought this Samsung a few days ago after researching fridges for weeks. It has great features and value and JD Power rates Samsung high for fridges. However, I have identified 3 problems that are now headaches. 1) The slopes of the top of the french doors are not symetrical, so although the back part of the tops of the doors (near the seal) are level with one another, the front part is not, due to the different slope on each door (front to back). So if the door is adjusted up/dn to match the other in the front where you see the height of the stainless front, it will be out of alignment in the rear part of the door where the seal is. This is a manufacturing fit issue. 2) There is "snow starting to form on 1 side of the freezer drawer (could interfere with the track sliding properly) and that indicates that there is moisture/air entering the freezer due to a bad seal fit on one side (i have cleaned the snow away and it re-appears in the same place). I know that the seal will only get worse and more snow will eventually form. I had an Amana before this for 18 years and NEVER had snow and NEVER required service of ANY kind. 3) the ice maker is scary noisy! I thought others must have been exaggerating and I was wrong. Needless to say, I am disappointed. I had read so much about Samsung being great with fridges, but for almost $3000 with service contract and tax, this is not acceptable quality. To be honest, I was hesitant about the Samsung brand because I've had bad experiences with it in the past (a horrible quality cell phone that i returned for a great Nokia) and i did not perceive the quality to be good, but I equated this with how much Hyundai has improved the quality of their cars and weighted all of the reviews on here and JD power Samsung rating on fridges and decided to go with my reseearch rather than my gut and past experience with Samsung. I really liked this fridge for the features and style, but once again, Samsung disappoints on quality. I'm tempted to try another of the same model (maybe i just got a bad one?), but I'm reluctant. I also liked the LG, but I heard they have issues with their fridges as well (noticed there was TONS of "snow" in the display model at the store). Frankly, if this is the best there is for counter depth stainless french door, I don't know what to get. I'm tempted to get the $8000 Miele and have it built in, but that is ridiculous. Maybe I will just have to go with Kitchen Aid. I heard they are reliable and find it interesting that Thermador and Dacor, among others use Kitchen Aid (whirlpool) fridge "guts"/mechanicals in their very expensive units (Whirlpool is one of the only OEM suppliers of fridges). If nothing else this has been a learning process. I hope if others buy this fridge they get one without quality issues. More importantly, I hope Samsung, gets their quality issues fixed because this would have been a great fridge if not for that.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
