What's great about it: Great price, idiot proof in terms of use
What's not so great: Kinda loud, not sure - what I expected
The best thing about this GPS is its price. They say you get what you pay for, but with this product, you definately get more for your money. If you're looking for something basic, you can't get better. Like I said better, this is farily accurate. My one knock is I don't like the way it reroutes...it just keeps trying to get you back to the old route instead of re-routing. Overall though, good unit and a recommend.

What's great about it: No complicated instructions. It was ready to use straight out of the box.
Maps were fairly up to date. Instructions were few and common sense. I had another GPS product from a different company and while it came with more features, it lacked in it's main feature which was directions. This product is a great deal for the cost.

What's great about it: good price
What's not so great: battery does not last the specified 4 hours.
I use this unit for my work and rely heavily on it to make a living. At first I had a hard time with addresses beginning with north south east or west. Once I updated the unit this was corrected. I had it less than 6 months When it just locked up and wouldn't reboot. This unit does not have a reset button on it. Fortunately, Best Buy was very good about it and exchanged the unit with no hassel since magellan only works 8am to 5pm during the week!

What's great about it: Leads me right to where I want to go, even gives me alternate routes if I miss my turn . Great price, easy to use!
What's not so great: Wish volume was louder. Sometimes can't hear it when my mother is talking nonstop! LOL!
I bought this for my husband but I use it more than he does since I seem to be traveling out of town more lately. Love the way it directs me either the scenic route, main interstate route or shortest route. Also it's great if you decide to take an alternate route that wasn't planned in the beginning. It just re-adjusts itself and leads you from there without having to be reprogrammed. Fantastic navigator. Love it. Don't know how I ever did without it. I usually do the map reading for my husband but when I travel I am on my own with my 85 year old mother who can't see the road signs nor read the map due to her failing eyesight. So this GPS is a lifesaver.
I think ever woman should have one, if nothing else to help stop fights with the hubby when he refuses to stop and ask for directions when HE is the lost one! LOL! ♥

What's great about it: Easy to use, good price. The directions are explicit and takes the stress out of on-the-road time.
What's not so great: Signal acquisition time. Fix available in software update.
As an art education advisor I spend many hours on the road visiting elementary schools. My GPS assistant, Maggie, gets me there on time and without the stress! I am absolutely pleased with my purchase.

What's great about it: Price/Value, small size, nice screen.
What's not so great: A little slow in calculations, 3D is lacking.
When I purchased this device, it was the least expensive one that had text to speech capability (speaking street names). I currently own a Garmin Nuvi 660 as well (which is an awesome device, but almost 3x the price), which I am leaving with my wife, and am using the Magellan for going on the road for business (outside sales).
Positives: Easy to use, nice screen, small profile, low price for Text to Speech.
You can program multiple waypoints in one trip, which is something my Garmin doesn't do. The Text to Speech is nice, but it uses two different volume levels for the voice commands. The generic voice is louder than the text conversion, so you either have the "Turn Right On" really loud and can hear the "Elm Street" normally, or the text conversion is almost too quiet to be useful anyway. It seemed like calculating routes took much longer than with my Garmin. It also took a while for it to indicate to me which way I was going to be turning on a street when pulling out of a driveway from a parking lot. With Garmin, I would drive 10 feet out of my parking spot and the unit would make it perfectly clear which way to turn on the street I was approaching. I felt like the search feature on Magellan was actually better than the Garmin feature, but Garmin was easier to switch between the 3D and 2D overall map view.
Negatives: 3D view, input entry, arrival announcement.
It took me 2 days to even know for sure that I was on the 3D map versus the 2D one. On Garmin, it was real clear because you would almost have a false horizon at the top of the screen. This feature is real nice because you get the close up of upcoming streets and turns, but also shows a good distance ahead of what to expect. With Magellan, you either are zoomed in a lot and can't see what's coming up very easily, or you're not zoomed in much, and making quick turns is more difficult to spot.
An annoying feature is regarding data input. You're inputting a street name, or city name, or number and, when the GPS realizes what you're trying to enter, it would take you to a second screen with the few most likely options. This happens so quickly that you often would accidentally select an option on the next screen without even realizing it, and would have to go back a screen to double check the selection. Garmin solved this by making it so that your first 'click' after they take you to your most likely choices is actually disregarded. This gives you the opportunity to realize "hey, I'm on the next screen, which of these street names is the one I want?".
Finally, it is annoying that, when you 'arrive' at your destination, the map disappears and a screen that shows the location information pops up for a few seconds before going back to the map. For those of us who are familiar with GPS devices, the actual location doesn't always match exactly the location in the device, so sometimes you have to look around a little bit, or drive a little farther, or stop a little sooner. Removing the map makes it more difficult to register exactly where you are in relation to the street names on the map, etc. My Garmin just announces that you are arriving at the location, but leaves the map on the screen.
So, basically I'm happy with this purchase and would recommend it. Just remember that you get what you pay for. Buy one for $300 plus (Garmin) you should be thrilled. Buy one for around $100, and you'll feel there's something lacking.

What's great about it: Easy to use, great price!
What's not so great: Limited points of interest
I just purchased this GPS as I am an avid traveler and I love it! It is easy to use and appears to be quite accurate. Sound quality is great and I thought I wouldn't like the small screen but it is actually perfect. For the price, I think it is well worth it.

What's great about it: Wrong turn = no problem...GPS adjusts on fly
What's not so great: No Canada...Eh?
For the money this is tough to beat. Has all the features you look for in a GPS. Took it with me on a business trip and it did not disappoint. Small issues with this (and many others I suppose) is the points of interest is not full proof. A major commuter train station was not listed. Had to get the address for it. Note to GPS makers, expand your points of interest in the future. Other than that a well made item.

What's great about it: 6 million points of interest, speaks street names
What's not so great: Can loose your way in a parking lot
For the price, this GPS unit is great. The text to speech is clear and accurate. When on the highway if you approach an exit to another highway it reminds you to stay on the current road eliminating any confusion. The 6 million points of interset is almost 4 times that of other manufacturer's amount which allows you to find more places to go. One problem I found was that if you are in a parking lot where you have to drive a little to get to the main road (hotel ) and start the GPS unit to the location you are going to, it does not realize that you are not on the main road (just start it after you leave the parking lot). Other than that it is a great GPS unit.

What's great about it: Ease of use, and finds satellite ASAP! Very audible clear directions
What's not so great: extra cost for traffic advisory, small screen, and short battery life
My work takes me out in country roads that have no road signs, or landmarks. I rely heavily on my GPS, and so far it has taken me to my destinations 9x out of 10. Even in stormy, cloudy, and days where you would not think a satellite signal can get through. It small screen does make it cumbersome to program our destination, (use a capped pen). It has several programming options POI's are updated, and you can buy the traffic package for a fee. I just use the re-route option, or fastest time- which does the same thing. For the price I paid for this system, and the amount of driving I do daily (100+miles) this GPS is worth every penny.

What's great about it: user freindly, great price. $129.00/the first to buy this model 1220 it from my local Best Buy.
What's not so great: n/a
this is acool little GPS, I went to get a TomTom an came away with this cool model, it has what I need an more for the money.the frist time I used it, it took me straight to my local, I like have it gives you your MPH,an time of arrival an time to get there. I was looking to get a 4.3 screen GPS but choose this 3.5 screen because it has all I need that the 4.3 screen has.
Plus I paid $136.00 for it since the 1212 was being frazed out an the 1220 was coming in.
