What's great about it: The design and thick material used.
What's not so great: Would have preferred if the glass was clear or tinted. Can't see throught the glass doors clearly.
Over-all, its a nice audio/video cabinet. Black in color, low and sleek looking. Was looking for a 4-compartment cabinet and this was just the right one for me. Large openings in the back to run your cables through.
The material is good and thick so it won't sag over time. A black touch-up marker was included also incase it ever gets any nicks or scratches on it.

This product looks much more expensive than what I paid for it. I was originally nervous about assembly but it could not have gone better. Every piece I needed was included and all pieces were in perfect condition!

We needed a "perfect" match to two towers brought from Best Buy in 2003 and although a different brand it matches perfectly. I love the smoked glass doors.

The Whalen stand is a good value for the price. The downside is that the assembly took much longer than expected. During the door assembly, one door frame fell apart and it required regluing and clamping. Overall I'd give this product a 3 out of 5 rating.

This is the most AWFULLY designed tv stand!!! It is SO CHEAP! It is basically particle board with a piece of black paper laminated to it. When you try to install it with their absurd instructions, you are guaranteed to split this chincy wood - which I suppose is why they included a large bottle of glue in the packaging. CHEAP, CHEAP, CHEAP!!! If you buy this product, you may need to purchase extra glue!

For a $200 stand holding you 50+ inch HDTV, this is a good product.

Hardware/Build:
During assembly, I suggest use wood glue/gorilla glue between connecting pieces to strengthen the stand, it's pretty durable already but the glue will help more. The stand is made of true wood and the back panel, though thin is of much better quality then the stuff you would get from Walmart, it's not a poster board. The top of the stand is a solid 1.5 inch level piece of wood, its strong and will have you worrying less. The majority of the screws are made of aluminum/strong plastic, no surprises there. Once assembled, the doors do need to be leveled. If youve ever assembled TV furniture before, it's the exact same hinge type that everything else uses.

As with all the other reviews, the doors are a pain to get to hang properly. One of the holes that your supossed to be able to screw one of those bolts into was bent and I was unable to get it in. However, it was on the top piece and I'm going to mount the TV on the wall, so not having 1 screw in the top shouldn't affect the product.

I have read other reviews concerning the installation of the doors on this cabinet. They are the usual European hinges with the usual adjustments. They work just fine. After assembly of this cabinet, which has precision hole placement and accurate cuts, the doors fit very accurately. Just take your time, assembly the unit as shown, and enjoy the unit.

For the price of the stand I thought that the directions would be a little better. EVERY piece was seperate. The doors were the worst piece to put on. I could not get the doors level. It looks great but for the price I wouldn't expect to put the whole thing together.

This cabinet was is a good lookng cabinet. Was a good price aslo.
However we had mulitiple issues with placing the doors on the unit . It was a nightmare attaching them and still do not close properly.Also the cheap screws in the hinge adjustment were stripped and could not be adjusted properly.

I bought this product because I considered it the best-looking stand for under $200. However, I was a little concerned because there were numerous reviews that discussed the problems with the doors. Nevertheless, I bought it and assembled it---and ran into the exact same problem. There was also a problem with some of the supplies, so I contacted the manufacturer but waited over a week to get a response from Whalen. They finally sent the parts needed.
I'm pretty handy about putting things together, but the design of this product is inadequate when it comes to the door assembly. It's very frustrating. At this point, I would rather have spent more money and gotten a better product. Perhaps I'm overly picky, but when I purchase something, I expect it to assemble properly.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

What's great about it: Sturdy and the Modern Look
What's not so great: Door Adjustments
Stand was very sturdy and fairly easy to assemble. The doors were the worst part of the buidling process. Trying to get the doors even seemed like a never ending procedure. Loved the look and matched our black leather furniture. The door handles have a slight gold tint, silver would be much better since most black furniture is detailed with silver.
I would recommend this to a friend!

It looks good, holds all of our components well, but the main problem is the doors are an absolute pain to get straight. We've tried all configurations but they will not close correctly. So we have to hold both doors and close them simultaneously in order to get them to close at all.
Also, the cabinet needs just a bit more ventilation in the back. The components get pretty hot after even a short time of use.
Other than that, great cabinet for the price.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Good price, good looks, easy to put together. I am a girl and it took me less than an hour by myself. Has a lot of storage space. The only downfalls are that it is easily scratched and the doors have to be closed at the same time to make them even.

We bought this TV stand to hold components as the TV is on the wall above the fireplace now. The glass doors allow signal thru with no trouble. Assembly was pretty simple, it even comes with the wood glue. The hinges were bent as noted in another review. I think it had to do with unpacking. lay the box flat and open that way, don't try and pull out from the side. One email to customer service and we had brackets 3 days later.
I am really happy with the look of this piece. I will have to use a holesaw to run HDMI cables from the receiver to the cable box and ps3. There are plenty big openings in the back, just a personal preference to keep them inside the stand.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I bought this based on previous reviews and it is WORTH IT! The look is chic and fits all of our electronics; video game consoles (3), cable box and stereo. It was really easy to assemble and took less than 1 1/2 hours from start to finish.
