What's great about it: Fast processor. Incredibly quiet. Great performance. What's not so great: Junk software, vista, had to be shipped.
"I just got this computer last week and it has certainly lived up to my expectations and blown them away. It's great to be able to play Bioshock, listen to music, chat online, and surf the web without the slightest drop in performance. The start up is relatively slow, which is slightly annoying, but once the computer is warmed up it's ridiculously fast. Of course as most people who have vista will tell you it's slow and resource hogging. As soon as windows 7 comes out, I wont worry about vista when the free upgrade disk arrives in the mail. The beta for 7 was amazing, and Vista will just be a bad dream, so I don't think it's fair to honestly say this machines hardware is junk simply because of a poor operating system and its registry problems. Honestly if people don't want to take the time to fix their registry, uninstall unwanted software, and modify their operating system to better suit them instead of whining and blaming all of it on the machine they should just go without a computer. This brings me to my second point about this machine. It's undoubtedly common to hear about problems with items shipped. No mailing system is infallible in preventing damage to the goods that are delivered though it. I was very wary about purchasing this computer because of this fact. It was only available online, which made me a bit upset for three main reasons. The first of course being that the machine could be damaged in the shipping process. The second being that the tax free holiday just before school could not count on this machine. I had gone to my local best buy during the tax free season hoping to save 75$ on a powerful machine right then and there. The third reason was the agonizingly long wait for the machine to arrive. I felt like making chalk ticks on the wall waiting, and hoping the machine had not been damaged or stolen in the meantime. True all of these are rather annoying, but the wait was well worth the reward. With a little tweaking and clean up this computer has become my dream computer and will surely last a long time before my next purchase."

What's great about it: not alot What's not so great: its not fast at startup. Had to reformat it twice due to the lightscribe not working right. Vista Home is unstable
"Not as fast as my old hp computer. Vista is unstable so is light tscribe ,had to reformat the computer first week I got it. The slow startup is annoying to say the least. It only has one pci slot so I couldn't add a tv tuner to this computer. For the money I think I could of done better getting a different machine. The software is garbage and its basically worthless. I remember with my other hp I got disks and software that you got more than a 30 day trial .I would think its best to not give software that really is useless."

What's great about it: Awsome speed, great for gaming and multitasking, and very quiet. What's not so great: When connected through its built in wireless connection, it adds alot of lag to other connections in your network (Xbox)
"I like the computer its just when i play my xbox 360, i have to disconnect the computer from the internet so that i dont experiance lag. I recommend this to Online >PC< gamers and workers or video editors. If you are trying to play xbox or ps3 while having this computer on, you will experiance major lag."

What's great about it: Price, multi tasking power, Lots of Hard drive space, pretty awesome graphics, Lots of USB ports What's not so great: slow start up time, thanks to windows vista, Blu Ray problems???
"I have had this computer for over a wk now and i am very pleased, the price is really nice, seeing as how if you build this same model, just about, on HP.com you are lookin at 2x as much. I tried and it was over 3,000 and i was only half way through. It runs super quiet, when it first starts up its loud for like a second, but thats to be expected. Then its basically silent. Great multi tasking...i was doing up to 7 different things at once and no slow down. Only complaint was the slow start up time but that is Windows Vista for ya. Also Blu Ray on this is not workin well for me i am gonna contact HP about this....It won't play blu ray movies for some reason, it will start then say it cannot play??? I also have a laptop with windows vista and it too starts up pretty slow too, and my laptop has some similarities to this computer but this Hp just runs amazing. Plust Lots and LOTS of USB.Other than that A+ so far if anything comes up i will definitely update this. I think the person before my review got a bad one bc i haven't had any of the problems he is having @ all.
+++ when i ordered it, the date to be shipped was about 4 to 5 wks and it came in 2wks it was really nice."

What's great about it: The price, the weight, and how quiet it runs. What's not so great: performance is horrible, even with 8G of Ram extremely slow
"When I saw the specs this machine had I was excited since it was for such a great price. I should have realized it's one of those situations where if someone seems too good to be true, it probably is. I've had the machine for a week now and already hate it and wish I could return it, but cannot.
Even with 8 gig of ram, I have never used a computer so slow... even my other machines with 2 or 4 gig of ram in the office way outperform it. Just a simple task like opening up something within the control panel will yield a 10-12 second lag or maybe even freeze up on you (after all, opening control panel settings is a lot to handle, right?) I got the blue screen of death no longer than 2 hours after we had it with just normal use, nothing crazy to cause this at all.
I'm so upset for buying this machine but I wanted to let others know about it. If you have never owned a pc before, you will love this, but if you are looking to upgrade an existing machine.... i'd check it out int he store first, I have not had good luck at all with this one."

"I am replacing a 3 yr old HP that was dual core and 2 ghz speed. Absolutely without a doubt the new AMD Phenom II is much faster. I can backup my software in the background while still having plenty of pc power to surf the net and listen to music. Be sure to download new software applications using 64bit to take full advantage of the processing speed of quad core and 8 GB of ram. This model comes with dual monitor support out of the box. Buy yourself a new 23"-25" monitor and you can use your old monitor to view email (twitter, pics, music) while you work on the main monitor. The surprise was this pc is very quiet in the home office and it has BluRay DVD support. NICE!"
