What's great about it: Price and quality
Now, for my review of the products:
OUTSTANDING!!!! Need I say more? Since 2005, my father and I take a trip annually to Oshkosh, WI for the big EAA (Experimental Aircraft Association) Airshow with my two kids. We each have cell phones, but with the volume of people clogging up the towers, its usually hard to get a call to go through. So, every year we have resorted to using two-way communication because its quicker and more convenient. However, the problem has always been people walking on us and having a hard time finding an empty channel. I have used everything from Motorola Talkabouts to Uniden to most recently the Garmin Rino series. The Rino's seemed to work a little better because of the GMRS side of the FRS radios. Also, the GPS feature was kinda cool wheras I could locate either the kids or my dad by their signal and not be giving locations to every Tom, Dick or Harry. However, the biggest problem has been the range and still everyone using the same channels. Everyone brags about their range, but nobody ever has it.
UNTIL NOW!! The TSX300 units that I used were every bit as good as they say and more!! These units worked flawlessly and outperformed every radio I have ever used. Not only was the range great, but not having to listen to everyone's channels and conversations was a blessing. There is nothing worse than listening to some one else's whining kid on MY RADIO!! I even had coverage in most buidings / Hangars that I went into without disruption. I even had people asking what channel I was on because they couldn't find an empty channel. Also, several people confused the radios for a new cell phone. Now, there were some times when the transmission was static filled, but that is to be expected on a two mile distance with a lot of aircraft and buidings in the path. They even out performed a set of Kenwood Pro-Talk TK-2100 VHF professional radios. WOW!!!
Now I can't wait to try these out during hunting season with the silent feature and the texting. I WILL BE RECOMMENDING THESE LITTLE GUYS TO ANYONE THAT IS LOOKING FOR TWO-WAY RADIOS!!

What's great about it: does text messaging
What's not so great: charger and charging, cheap accessories
I bought this to use it on the while snowboarding, bike riding, and hiking. The text messaging is great, but it's hard to find new messages in the menu for new users. So I end up giving everyone a quick lesson. It works great as a radio, but the accessories that come with it are a kinda flimsy set of headsets with boom mic. The headset does pretty good with VOX mode, but i found it's best to make a noise first then start talking for the voice operation to kick in. The range in the city seems to only work a few blocks from the house, but the text messaging works a 1/2 mile away. In the forest I was able to talk about 1/4 mile, but the text messages worked about a 1/2 mile away. I had 1 pair that I returned to BestBuy and I liked them enough to get another pair. The pair I returned started having problems charging. The radio has 4 nubs on the back that set against prongs inside the charging set. The prongs inside of the charging set started getting bent and did not make good contact. I was not rough with them, so I can only hope this was a faulty charger. So far I have used the new ones 10+ times and they are still charging. The unit will take batteries, which is a nice feature, but I really want to be able to charge them for day use. Over all I say they are worth the price if you want to have the text messaging.

What's not so great: Nothing
This is the second set of eXRS radios for me. I also have a non-camo set.
The best thing about these radios is that they are not on the same frequencies as the old GMRS and FRS radios. That puts an end to crowded channels and harassment while trying to talk. EXRS radios work together, but not with the old walkie talkies.
These are frequency hopping radios (kind of stealth military technology) so they offer privacy. The range is great and is as good al all the other radios. If you have a clear line of sight, they will go many miles. If there is a lot of stuff between, they won’t go as far, just like the others
The camouflage is really cool. It matches some of my other stuff.
