What's great about it: Everything
What's not so great: Not a thing
We recently lost our 1996 32" Toshiba TV. It was part of the family. Never had a problem, never in the shop, always there for us. Now we moved on up to our new Regza 52" flat screen TV. We are a very old couple and have never seen anything like this before. The connections were so easy and I have hooked up a surround sound to it and it is great. The picture is so enjoyable, and the sound is really great.
Can't say enough good things about it.
The service at Best buy was great too....

What's great about it: Cost, High-Def picture, picture settings, sound
What's not so great: Shadow levels could be a tad better
I sold my old Toshiba 52" DLP set for this one- what a steal! Great brightness, accurate color if presets are done correctly, lots of inputs. Sound is unusually good for a flat panel, in case you want to not use your home theater sometimes. Looking at all the alternatives, this is a great bargain. Some Samsung edge-lit LED sets were better by some, but not worth $2000 in price difference. The shadow detail in the darkest areas could be better, and standard def pix are slightly soft, but that can be corrected for with the sharpness control. Overall, a 52inch flat panel this good for $1200 is a STEAL.

What's great about it: easy hook-ups, well placed near the side so you don't have to completely turn the whole t.v. around
What's not so great: sound comes out of the center of the back side and is quite poor compared to my old samsung DLP
Toshiba 52XV645U
I have only had this tv for a few days. All-in-all it's not so bad considering what I paid for it (well below the "sale" cost). You can go online to find recommended "D6500" settings which I had never heard of, but found while researching the tv. I guess these are the settings to make everything look as natural as it is supposed to look. I am trying these settings out rather than just "eyeballing" the setings myself, or using the pre-set modes. I also found if you want to have the tv set to 120HZ you need to turn on the "clear screen" function. Some of the settings are a bit past my knowledge, but I imagine you can get it all online to fine tune if you look hard enough.BTW, I switched from a 50 inch Samsung DLP that was the top of the line in DLP's when I bought it 5 years ago, never a problem with that tv..I love Samsung products...kept it just in case I return this LCD.

What's great about it: great price and only took me 1/2 hour to set up.
What's not so great: The colors seem to be really dark, when you brighten it, the picture quality gets bad. No big deal, easy to look past.
This tv is great. We bought it because we have a 32inch that we bought in 2007 and is still in great working order. Toshiba really knows how to put a tv together. The only issue that I have had with it is that the color is dark. Meaning the brown in some show is actually black. I had tried to lighten the picture, but I sacrificed quality. So I set it back to factory settings and got used to it. No big deal. This tv is great with HD. If all you have is standard def, I would recommend upgrading. We have standard and high def through our local cable company and you can see the obvious differences in quality. I love this tv.

What's great about it: Easy set up, Beautiful sleek design
What's not so great: Just about everything else.
Had this TV for two weeks. Here is what I found to be good: Static images looked good, photo like almost. I found the input jacks to be well made, and well placed. The sound wasn't too bad, considering. Granted, it is nothing compared to a full sound system, but for a flat panel TV it wasn't too bad.
The Bad... Moving pictures. I really question the 120hz refresh rate of this TV. Everything blurred out at any speed. Pixelation, ghosting, artifacts, grainy blacks, sound noise you name it, it was bad.
I watch a lot of sports. Football was sub par (super bowl was very disappointing to watch) basketball was just eh... Couldn't say either way about baseball, as its the offseason. But my favorite sport, Hockey, was unbearable. I chose to watch on my 18 year old 20" Sony over this TV.
Standard definition TV was really bad, even for an HDTV. Blu Ray disks were pretty good until the action started.
Unless you watch the news exclusively, I would recommend finding another TV. I guess there is a reason these Toshiba TVs are priced so low.

What's great about it: Picture is great!
What's not so great: inital issues
I was having power issues. The TV would shut itself off after 1.5 - 2 hrs of viewing. BB sent a GS tech out to troubleshoot. He suggested that it may be due to the power strip I was using, it was new but not specifically for home entertainment systems.
I bought a Monster power strip from BB and am currently testing it out, so far so good.
Very pleased with the picture, sound runs trough a surround system but I have seen reviews saying it isn't so great, and love playing my XBOX on this TV not to mention BR movies.

What's great about it: Ordering, installing, setup, picture, inputs and outputs
What's not so great: Sound, no PIP, only 3 HDMI inputs
I read the reviews in magazines and on-line then made my selection based on an excellent show-room demo and a great price. Delivery was perfect. Setup was very easy. I connected my cable box, Blu-ray player, a Replay (similar to Tivo), a Sony 400 DVD carousel and an HP Media Center Extender. Everything worked when I tested each function and connection and it has been working perfectly during the four weeks that I've had this set. On movies and shows I want to enjoy the most, I use a Yamaha receiver with Infinity speakers to push out the sound since the speakers in the TV are quite small, though adequate for watching standard TV programs.
I really enjoy viewing my camera's digital photos on the TV. I use an SD to USB adapter. As soon as that is plugged in, a pop-up dialog asks if you want to view the pictures. You get the ability to navigate folders, move from photo to photo and to rotate pictures 90 degrees at a time. Photos look really great on the Toshiba.
There a few things than could be better. I had read that some of these sets experienced problems after the 1 year warranty so I opted for an extended warranty. There is some off-angle color reduction (which happens in many LCD TVs) but we live in an apartment so there hasn't been more than three people watching the TV at a time and we've all been directly in front. The sound quality could be better. I miss picture-in-picture features that I had on previous televisions but I believe that's gone because of DVRs, pervasive DVDs and the ability to watch past TV shows using the cable's on-demand channels; therefore, not having this feature isn't as bad as it might have been in years past.
Overall, my wife and I love the picture quality. Often we are glued to the set and watch a program all the way to the end because everything appears to be so real.

What's great about it: Easy setup onscreen
What's not so great: Hardest thing about this is taking it out oft box.
We love this tv. We've had this same tv but in the 32" for a few of years an have never had a problem with it until recently. For some reason it comes on but the screen just stays black. Turn it off and back on and all is okay again. So it's still a keeper. We have definately gotten our money out of it and we very much wanted another like it, but bigger. Not sure if we will keep the 52" or go bigger. Got a couple of more days to decide. Ha! The Toshiba Regza is a great line. We HAVE BEEN recommending this tv to everyone that's come over to watch games with us for as long as we've had the little tv.

What's great about it: Very deep black levels, full range RGB support, accurate colors, evenly backlit
What's not so great: Some options like 120Hz hidden away in menus.
Bought this last week at Best Buy. I compared this to the Sony V-series and some Samsung models. I did not care about Ethernet or Internet add-ons. I wanted best picture quality for the price. This TV just looked like it had much deeper black levels and better shadow detail. Sure enough, I get it home, it was better than expected. My home theater consists of Paradigm 5.1 speakers, Onkyo 807 receiver, XBOX 360, and PS3. This TV supports full-range RGB, and super-white. After calibration, blu-ray discs look stunning. SD is very acceptable too. Lots of color control options. The built-in speakers are okay, but if you are buying this big of TV, you really need a 5.1 speaker set to do it justice.
This TV doesn't have a "vivid" mode like other brands, which is okay with me. I wanted accurate colors, not over-the-top saturated colors like other brands. For the price, it was hard to pass up. I put on a blu-ray movie and played the credits. White text on black background looks great. Black is very deep, and the LCD panel is very evenly backlit. No noticeable flashlighting anywhere, except for the upper-right corner. But it is barely noticeable, and only on black screen. The 120Hz option is sort of hard to get to in the menus. There is no button on the remote to turn it on and off instantly. So if you play games and watch movies, you will need to switch back and forth from "game" mode which uses 60Hz to the other modes which turn 120Hz back on. Although even in 120Hz, I haven't really noticed any input lag in games. The only thing is, that when you turn really fast in some games like Gears of War, there is some motion blurring.

What's not so great: Nothing so far
So first I bought a 50" insigna Plasma but after a week I knew there was no reason to be half stepping on the best friend i was going to have in my living room so i started browsing again. I went in the store and looked at the 42"'s and up. I was looking more into the samsungs because everyone said they were the way to go. And the samsungs both LCD and Plasma had a lot of impressive features like standard 4 hdmi ports which was good. But honestly I cared more about the picture quality than anything else. I compared the samsung with all other models from Sony to LG and was drawn to the Toshibas because the picture quality just looked better in comparism. Then i looked at the 52" LCDs and the same picture quality was there better than the samsung. I asked the sales assosciate and he was recommending the samsung because he said samsung had a better reputation that toshiba. I went with the Toshiba and have not regreted it. The samsung was way pricier for the same features that the Toshiba had PLUS better picture. I was SOLD.

What's great about it: Easy set up out of box, great picture, great sound, looks awesome!!
What's not so great: Couldn't get my tv remote to work w/ Samsung Blu-Ray, no biggie though.
I have never written a review before but I had to for this. I was replacing a Vizio Plasma and had heard to go to LCD b/c of limited glare. I originally bought the LG 47 inch LCD, but the stand was flimsy and I wasn't impressed with the picture. Did my research and exchanged for the Toshiba 52. It was a great decision. This tv just looks great out of the box and is a breeze to set up. It is solid and sturdy but looks sleek. Brightest picture I have seen and is very clear. Sound is great as well for a LCD. If you are in the market for a new LCD, with this price, you can't go wrong, you will love this tv.

What's great about it: picture quality, price
What's not so great: remote design could be better
Just got this as an exchange for the 4 year old Projection LCD Sony that broke 3 weeks prior to the extended BB 4 year warranty running out. Talk about luck !
The picture is great. If you are a gamer, my PS3 games look incredible in 1080p. The picture is so crisp and vivid. And the sound is definitely acceptable. A number of reviewers have complained about the sound but in my family room (about 18' x 20') getting it half way up is about as loud as you want to get it or it is too loud, so there is definitely plenty of volume available. It might not be Bang & Oluffsen quality, but for our family is just fine.
We are a typical middle age suburban family with 2 small kids. For us, this TV has an incredible value/picture-quality to it. If you are the kind of person that is totally into TV and sound, you might disagree, but then again you are probably spending a lot more money to get what you are looking for.
I adjusted all the settings based on those recommended here: http://reviews.lcdtvbuyingguide.com/lcdtvreviews/toshiba-52xv645u-calibration.html
It did make a difference for the better, the flesh tones looking more natural and overall all the colors appearing less saturated.
Easy set-up of the A/V receiver, DVD player, Wii and PS3 and we still have plenty of inputs left to be used.
For the price/value, not sure you can get much better than this.

We bought this TV at Thanksgiving and haven't looked back. Consumer Reports had it as a preferred, so we knew we wouldn't go wrong. The picture is crystal clear and really sharp. We were able to program the remote to operate everything - so no need to keep several remotes around all the time. Highly Recommended!

What's great about it: BEAUTIFUL picture...Vibrant...Perfect...Even the sound is good for an LCD
What's not so great: None so far
I never buy any major purchase without fully investigating the pros, cons, and known issues associated with each manufacturer and model.
Initially, I was trying to decide between a 52" Samsung Touch of Color and a 52" Sony. I investigated both online...both in reviews and in forums. Each had known issues that, while not necessarily deal-breakers, made me sit back and ponder my decision a bit more. I tend to lean heavily towards Samsung TVs as I already have a beautiful Samsung 32" LCD in my bedroom, which when compared to the other 32" LCDs in Best Buy at the time just blew them away.
However, I ran across the Toshiba online and began doing research. It had everything I wanted and got good reviews online and in the "expert" forums. I love Toshiba products....I have 3 Toshiba laptops...1 Toshiba netbook...numerous Toshiba portable hard drives...but I continued to research this set since, as we all know, there are differences across product lines between manufacturers.
This is an incredible set. The picture was great right out of the box. The on-screen interface is awesome...the remote easy to navigate...and the price, even if not discounted, is a steal when compared to the Samsung and the Sony...plus Best Buy gave me a free Blu-Ray player (worth $199) with it.
Best Buy hauled away my old 51" Rear Projection TV (HUGE and clunky) for free. This would have cost me at least $100 plus if I called one of the local firms to take it away. Salvation Army will not take TVs in my area. Their delivery people set up the TV carefully on my stand (Z-line Designs Balboa Park...INCREDIBLE stand).; set up the remote; set up the initial settings on the TV...and I was on my way.
The sound is GREAT for an LCD. I have heard some really tinny LCD TV sound...I have to keep this one turned down so as not to disturb my neighbors. I am considering purchasing a Home Theater system ONLY because it seems a shame to not purchase one when you have such an incredible set.
VERY happy with my purchase!
I would recommend this to a friend!
