What's great about it: Beautiful Voice, and Lyrics
What's not so great: A little to 70's for me.
"Diane Birch sounds like a cross between Norah Jones, Ella Fitzgerald and Stevie Nicks, and does it effortlessly. Blues isn't normally my genre of choice, but I was happy to receive this album to review. I really didn't know what to expect, as I'd never heard of Diane Birch before, but I was pleasantly surprised once I gave it a listen. The songs vary from uptempo and fun to slow and sensual. It's a nice range for every music lover out there. I do wish she sounded just a bit more current and thing the 70's sound is just a little too prominent, she definitely has one of the prettiest voices I've heard."

Great Soulful Sound

"Diane Birch has a great soulful sound that takes me back to Memphis, TN and the blues. I really enjoyed the wonderful piano. I what I liked most about this cd is that every song was unique and didn't sound like the other yet the cd flowed very well into each song. I can't to share this with my husband, because even though the singer is a female she has wide appeal and I think he will enjoy it! A great, relaxing cd that is dull or redundant!"

What's great about it: Great music, strong and complex vocals
"I am in love with this CD by an up and coming new artist, Diane Birch. When I first received this CD, I have to admit that I was skeptical. Diane Birch had received high praise from music critics, but I just had to hear it for myself. Boy, was I glad that I was wrong. For the first time in a long time, I was able to listen to a CD all the way through, no skipping around between the tracks. The whole CD has a nice, bluesy feel to it that I enjoy, and Diane's vocals can't be beat. Her vocals remind me a lot of Natalie Merchant. I particularly love tracks #3:Fools, #4:Nothing but a Miracle, and #12: Forgiveness. All in all, if you like music with a bluesy/rock feel to it, you can't go wrong with this CD."

A Voice of Her Own

"Diane Birch sings with a great deal of soul and passion. I can hear gospel, jazz and blues influences, but her style is all her own. She composes her own songs, sings lead and plays keyboards. She's accompanied by a great band, including saxophone and trombone, plus a rousing chorus of back-up singers on several songs.
Many of the songs are upbeat and high energy, but what I like most is that they don't all sound alike. Some artists are still finding their way when they release their first album, and their tunes aren't always distinctive and different from each other. Birch may be new to the recording scene, but she's clearly been honing her musical skills and sensibility for a while. Her voice is strong and confident.
My favourite cuts include Don't Wait Up, Ariel and Rise Up. I'm not always sure of the meaning of her lyrics, but I quickly find I'm singing along and feeling good. This woman has a lot of talent, and I'm looking forward to hearing more."

What's great about it: Put me in a good mod without being "poppy"
What's not so great: I liked it more than my husband did.
"I really enjoyed every song on this cd. My husband's favorites were Ariel and Forgiveness. I have listened to this cd several times and it would be the first one in my ipod on vacation or in my car for that long drive with the windows down."

"I wasn't quite sure what to expect when I first listened to Diane Birch's debut album. Her unique, soulful voice instantly pulled me in. She is exceptionally easy to listen to and the songs she's composed suit her voice perfectly. I enjoyed almost every song.
The ones that I have since played over and over are “Valentino” and “Rewind”. They remind me of Carly Simon and other great female singers of the 60s and 70s. I can't say every song on the album will be on my playlist, but a couple of the them are going to be in rotation for quite a while."

What's great about it: Great Musical lyrics.
"Diane Birch is a breath of fresh air. She is very soulful and charming. I get so tired of the over-produced, half naked, trendy music that is out there. She writes her own music,sings, and plays an instrument. What more could you ask for? She reminds me of Joni Mitchell a bit mixed with Nora Jones, and the like. Her worldly and life experiences definitely show through in all aspects of this album. I think there is a little something for everyone on this album. My favorite songs on the album would be Fire Escape and Fools. I hope to see more of this young lady!"

"I love to listen to fun, upbeat music while driving, but it is often difficult to find a CD that pleases my ears as well as my toddler's. But that's not the case with Diane Birch's album, Bible Belt. Her album is enjoyed by both of us! She has an amazing voice and clever lyrics. Her voice reminds me of Carole King and Natalie Maines. “Ariel” and “Rewind” are two of my favorite songs, but all of the songs are great! I received this CD through the One2One Network and I must say I am very impressed. I have recommended this album to many of my friends and family members and I look forward to hearing more songs from Diane Birch in the future!"

"I was very surprised that I liked this album as much as I did. The songs flow together well and alternate between more upbeat to mellow. Diane has a smooth, bluesy voice that's pleasant to listen to. There is a sadness in her tone though it doesn't make her songs depressing. My favorites were Valentino and Don't Wait Up.
If you like Nora Jones, Joss Stone, Carol King, and others like that, you will most likely appreciate Diane Birch."

What's great about it: Talented new singer
"Although Diane Birch is only in her mid-20's, she sings with the heart of an old soul. This debut album showcases her mesmerizing voice, which has a blusy, timeless, raw, emotional, and soulful quality.
I love all the songs on this album, but my absolute favorites are:
#2 - "Valentino", which has a very strong, catchy, melody.
#4 - "Nothing but a Miracle," a not-so-typical
'relationship song' with a very mature sound.
#6 - "Rise Up", which offers a tongue-in-cheek view of religion.
#12 - "Forgiveness," a blues-inspired song that showcases Diane's incredible voice."

"I wasn't sure what to expect.I'm not really into jazz and blues. But, it was a great surprise. I find myself humming along while listening to her songs. The lyrics are really good and somewhat have deeper meaning coming from the heart and her experiences. Her voice is relaxing, soulful. This will be a great addition in your collection if you like this type of music.
