What's great about it: Fast protection when needed
What's not so great: Nothing
The APC Backup ES 550 is a perfect selection when you have power interruptions for short periods (waiting time before your backup generator kicks in) that may affect your computer, modem and router.
I have ours connected to our desktop computer, monitor, modem, wireless router, backup hard drive and printer. In a power outage our standby generator needs about a minute or so to cut in and there is ample power left on the ES 550 if it took 5 times longer or more.
We were concerned about any damage from power spikes and brown outs which the ES 550 also protects against, so all of our concerns were addressed nicely with this compact and "ready to go out of the box" backup power and surge protecting unit.
The unit was under $50 making the cost versus benefit of purchasing it a "No Brainer".
I would recommend this to a friend!

What's great about it: set it and forget it, the alarm tells you if the backup function kicks in.
This is my third apc battery backup that I've bought over the years and they all worked as expected, which is great because during the summer storms in Florida we have lots of brown outs and lightening strikes in the area.
I would recommend this to a friend!

One of my older UPS devices finally gave out, so I purchased this unit to replace it. As expected, it has performed as intended. Setup was minor (connecting the internal battery to the lead). After that, plug the unit into the wall socket and away you go. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a home UPS unit.

I have 4 APC UPS and use them for Computers, TV & VCRs, Lights & Phones. I live in the country and experience frequent outages from momentary to an hour. I can keep in touch with what is happening when I need to most. Be sure to use a reasonable load for best service. This was a replacement for a 6 year old one. Recycle at Best Buy!

It's a great buy for the price. I will recomend not just because of the power protection, but the back up is helpfull. Right after the purchased, we had a black out and it worked just fine.

What's great about it: Small, compact, utility, good price!
What's not so great: No display but that would make it more expensive...
This UPS has performed flawlessly for several years, protecting us from blackouts and shutting down the computer for us in an emergency and the battery is draining. It doesn't last super-long or have a meter or display but it does what is needed and provides full regulated power.
I would recommend this to a friend!

This was probably the best investment I have done for my electronics! With everything running, that's my laptop, small fan, Bose, 1TB drive. I get around 25minutes, and if I turn some things off, it goes to around 30-35minutes!
This thing is amazing, I recommend anyone needing a backup power system, this would be it! It's very cheap, and a very good buy.

What's great about it: Battery will stay on when the power goes out only for 4 mins
What's not so great: Very heavy
Easy to set up. very heavy to lift and put onto the floor because of the battery inside. I am useing this APC battery back up for my desk top computer I only plugged in my screen and CPU into it I hope it works well for me. I got this the weekend of ThanksGiving and a great sale price.

The salesman should have known that we had a newer imac and the usb cable was not going to work with our computer
It is such a big problem to return an item to Best Buy we decided to keep it.
We will not be buying from Best Buy again. The salesman are not informed enough.

Really liked this little monster. I can either run my Mac for about 10-30 minutes using this UPS (enough to save and shutdown safely). Or I can basically light my house for about 110 hours using a 5 watt led table lamp.
I would recommend this to a friend!

This is a good backup for a single computer. I use it to keep my computer from rebooting each time we have a short hiccup in our electric supply - something that happens fairly often for us. Size is more compact than my previous backup power supply for the same amount of power.

APC batteries are great. However, the software is a bit flaky and the USB connection on this model is not very good; the cable doesn't have that nice "snap" that assures you the connection is solid.

So far, this UPS was worth the money. I haven't actually had to use it yet, but it's set up and ready to go. I only use it for my internet modem and my personal cell tower. I did unplug it and it kept everything running. Hopefully, when the power goes out, I'll still have internet and cell service for a while.

I have 3 of these protecting a computer,router,modems,nas network
disk & a cable box. I've lost power a few times this summer and

I do not use any sophisticated software etc I just want to have battery power on my cable modem when the power fails. I am also using it as a surge protector
