What's great about it: Price and Seagate name
What's not so great: Lack of utility software
I bought this 500GB drive to replace my 500MB drive in my Toshiba laptop. I chose this replacement because of price and the fact that is was a 7200rpm unit, expecting much higher performance. You usually cannot go wrong with Seagate or Maxtor. Seagate won here due to price and speed. I've been running with the new drive for about 1 month now without any problems. Some reviews talked about it delivering better speed and being quieter. I really don't notice either one. Other reviews talked about it using more power (i.e., draining the battery faster). Again, I don't notice any difference.
I would recommend this to a friend!

What's great about it: Faster than most stock drives, Easy to Install
What's not so great: Mechanical drives are on the way out.
Works great. Installation is easy. The drive in my experience was very quiet.

What's great about it: High rpm's and lots of space
What's not so great: nothing
This hard drive is used as a secondary drive in my gaming laptop. I use it to dual-boot Ubuntu and Windows7. Ubuntu is on the Momentus. I can tell that it is a 7200rpm drive seeing as how the boot time is about 1/4 the time as booting Win7. I believe it runs even more silently then my factory hard drive, which has never let me down either. I'd recommend this drive to anybody looking for more space.
FYI - when installing, whatever you use to take up any slack you may have in your hard drive slot, be sure to note that there is a vent hole that you MUST NOT block.

What's great about it: The hard drive has been working well and was a pretty good price.
All in all, very happy with the purchase. Good price, and the drive has been working well. Installation was pretty standard for a laptop drive. No complaints.

I purchased this drive to replace the original drive in my MacBook Pro which crashed. The drive was easy to install and worked perfectly from the moment it was installed. I have had no problems with the drive and am completely enjoying the extra room it provides.

Nice drive for a minimal investment. 7200 RPM is a dramatic improvement over factory 5400 rpm drives.

What's great about it: It works perfectly in my HP Laptop
What's not so great: Unless you have the original OS installation disk its hard to format and get it to Operate
It took some time and patience but once I was able to get any version of a windows OS I was able to partition the HD and use it with no problems.

When the HDD on my HP dm laptop crashed after 13th months of use [Right after the warranty expired on that laptop ;(, I wonder if it was programmed to do that as part of the new hardware sales strategy??] I was looking for an upgrade and it seemed like this 500 GB 7200 RPM Seagate SATA drive would be a good replacement in place of the original Samsung. Part of the reason I picked Seagate over WD due previous experience with Seagate laptop drive my other HP had which is 4+ yrs old and never caused any issue (touch wood!:)
The laptop is performing faster with this new drive (yep - as expected) without any noticeably higher power consumption.
It’s a very nicely made, light weight, quite laptop hard drive. It also runs cooler - Highly recommended!

What's great about it: easy to set up, great price
I bought this harddrive to replace the much smaller secondary drive in my Alienware laptop. Installation was a snap and it seems to be working flawlessly. Also I just love all the extra room I have now for "stuff". I was actually initially looking for a Western Digital brand but the store didn't have a suitable one in stock. I went with the Seagate because I've also been quite happy with that brand in the past, and the price made it a deal I couldn't pass up on. By the way, I consider WD and Seagate essentially equal, but just happen to own more WD's.

Easy to install.
Do not have speed measuring software so have to go off my observations. I am unable to upgrade memory for my laptop, I'm at the maximum. After installing this hard drive I saw significant improvement in laptop performance. It boots up much faster, loads programs faster and has plenty of space. Previously had a 4200 RPM drive.
Also put one in another laptop, same performance increase.

What's great about it: warranty, price, quiet, small performance bump
What's not so great: nothing yet
Works great in my wife's MacBook computer, took all of 10min to install.
I bought this drive over the WD Caviar because the warranty is longer and the price was a little more competitive. I've had great luck with both WD and Seagate so it wasn't brand loyalty but rather the warranty and price.
The drive it replaced was a Western Digital 320GB 5400RPM drive. The difference in noise is definitely noticeable, this new Seagate drive is much quieter. Performance-wise, it's a wash….some things that are disk-intensive (i.e. VMWare) you definitely see a speed bump but most others you don't. Battery life hasn't changed noticeably, the only real difference you will see is the capacity bump and noise drop.
Formatted and installed Lion, restored from her Time Machine backup, and in a few hours (yeah, that much data!) she was up and running.
Very pleased with the drive.

It was hard enough to find a harddrive since the earthquake in Japan, thankfully Best Buy had one left. Installation is simple but harddrive has to be formatted, thankfully I have a friend for that and a Time Machine to make my laptop just like it was. This harddrive is a 7200 and actually faster than my previous 5500, which is still under warranty so I will send it in and have an extra, very cool.

What's not so great: wasn't free, not and SSD, not an XT model
After trying my hand with a 500GB western digital drive for my PS3 which was defective due to clicking every 3-5 minutes i paid the difference for this drive. I am glad i did so cause this has a higher RPM than the western digital drive had and it does not click. my PS3 loves the speed of this drive i would highly suggest if your in the market for a PS3 drive look no further than this one here.
