What's great about it: Everyone knows how to use binoculars, and these are no exception.
What's not so great: The strap is a bit rough on the neck.
I wanted a pair of binoculars for astronomy, although naturally they serve double duty for anything else binoculars are commonly used for (sporting events, birdwatching, seeing what the dog is getting into at the edge of the yard). Important factors were:
-Large diameter primary optics (these are 50mm, that's good for inexpensive binoculars)
-Focus adjustment
-Decent, but not too high magnification (too much and it's hard to keep the image stable)
These binoculars fit the bill very well. I take them out on most nights when I walk the dog. As I notice something in the sky that I want to look at, it's quick to pull them up and take a look. The moon pops out, small nebulae become visible (even here on the edge of Washington, D.C.), and star clusters look amazing compared to the naked eye. The field of view is wide enough that you get to see a decently wide view.
I do consider now that I should probably find some kind of walking stick that I can use as a makeshift prop to help stabilize the binoculars. They're not bad, but any binoculars of this size and weight are going to be somewhat difficult to keep stable. When you're trying to look at stars, stability is handy to have.
I could have gotten these for a bit less money elsewhere, but I had some giftcards to use up. Their price was average, and well in the range one should expect to pay for binoculars with similar quality and features.
I would recommend this to a friend!
