What's great about it: 5 year warranty, ease of use
What's not so great: Sometimes slow printing, but may be network issue
Bought this printer for the 5 yr warranty, and the overall good reviews it received on the internet. Like any product, there are bound to be people who hate it. So far I am happy with the printer. I had it up and running in a few minutes, then had some issues with my wife's work computer due to firewall. Lexmark Tech Support was very helpful in solving problem. So far running well and no major issues. Had a couple of document feed issues which were easily fixed. It does print a little slower than expected, but that appears to be a network issue and an issue with my wife's firewall. The paper trays and document feeder are a little flimsy, but so are all of the others. Print quality seems to be good, but at times it cuts off a bottom line on a document that it printed before. I would recommend it to a friend. I hated my last HP printer. We will see how it goes at 9 months...

What's great about it: It was well marketed.
What's not so great: Gee, doesn't work.
It worked great until the refund window was over. After about 9 months it was hit or miss printing. I"d reboot then it seemed to work. Now nothing. The wifi printing doesn't work and it won't read a memory stick either. It is a piece of trash par excellance! Now I'm trying to find other uses for it. Hmmm too big for a door stop. Too enviromently unfriendly for target practice. It will look great in the garbage can, that's about it! DON'T BUY THIS PRODUCT AND SHAME ON LEXMARK FOR SELLING ME THIS PIECE OF JUNK!

Stunning Copier! Couldn't be happier with it. I will be retiring my 2 primary copiers as they use up what little ink they have left in them. I make 50-100 copies a day and this printer just rocks and the ink cartridges are very inexpensive. Buy This one!

What's great about it: Inexpensive ink

I'm very pleased with this Lexmark. It took about an hour to get up and running. After using it for a week a problem came up. This was remedied with a tech support phone call. The Lexmark ink exchange program is great. When five ink cartridges are bought or five empties are returned to Lexmark you get a free ink cartridge. It's hard to beat a five warranty too.
I would recommend this to a friend!

What's great about it: can select which tray to use paper from
What's not so great: doesnt reliably feed one high quality photo paper sheet at a time
Have it connected to our wireless network and it works pretty good that way, however one time I did have to restart it, as it was not responding. Copying, scanning anf faxing all work really nice. Only problem I have had to deal with is printing a nice color brochure.the printer does not like to feed one piece of high quality photo paper at a time, it feeds more then one and jams up. First time it happened it shot so much black ink it pooled on the paper and the heads needed to be cleaned, but after the machine did a head clean, It works great. Just have to feed one at a time

What's great about it: Great print quality, fast, does a lot.
What's not so great: set up is a nightmare phone support is horrible its big
It took me two moths two set this up and have it working. I had spent hours, days months trying to set this up. now I am like a computer expert so this is odd. But once I set it up on all the computers, It worked great. I now like it a lot. I have not had a problem since it was set up. But trying to set it up is a pain in the rear. And don"t plan on getting any help at all from the lexmark phone support line. They are open only till 5 on week days. And are really dumb. they don't know much at all about there own products. And you cant even understand them most barely speak english. If you want help do it your self or get someone else thats great with printers. But I couldn't get help from anyone. I finally did one day my self figure it out. But its great when it works
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

What's great about it: printer quality, ease of use, works as advertised
What's not so great: print head assembly seems fragle
For the initial cost and cost of consumables this printer is one of the best I have used. I put a moderate load on this printer and it has performed very well. This is still an ink jet but I am down to two printers. One high volume Xerox and the Lexmark. Very simple setup. I have a concern over the printer head but so far this has not been an issue.
I would recommend this to a friend!

What's great about it: Wireless is flawless
What's not so great: Not really sold on the web apps (SmartSolutions) but not a real minus.
Needed a wireless printer for the home with dual trays. Tried the HP Officejet 8500. The printer is excellent as long as it is connected by hardwire (CAT5 or USB). Wireless is another story. It regularly froze up and had to be unplugged to regain connection. Tried everything - firmware update, software re-installs, dedicated IP address - no joy. Researched on the web and a well documented issue. Returned it after 2 weeks and saw the Lexmark. Took a chance and glad I did. No issues whatsoever (well, the initial unit had a broken roller wheel on the document feeder and had to return). Low ink cost, dependable wireless, excellent print quality and 5 year warranty to boot - all I was looking for. Highly recommended.
I would recommend this to a friend!

What's great about it: Twin paper trays. Great for envelopes in one and paper in other. Or used paper & print just for info and temporary use.
What's not so great: Slightly slower than my HP 7310 but worth the switch for the paper trays.
Since my 5 years with computers I have always had HP printers. They are great, but this is better. It prints slightly slower, most people wouldn't notice it, but it has features I really like. One of them is the touch screen. And the menu's list everything you would want to access. With the computer it is much faster when scaning a document than the HP was, and it puts the finished scan in my documents much faster too. But the best thing for me is the dual tray. I often have paper I printer on once and throw out, but with this dual tray I can put the used paper in tray #1 and print on the back side when I don't need a clean copy. Often I just want a hard copy of a drawing or e-mail or something on the net or whatever, and this is a real paper saver. The other thing is when I am mailing out letters I can put the envelopes in the top tray and never have to remove my paper to switch to envelopes. This is the best thing that's happened to home/small business printers. I love it and I'll never go back to a single tray printer.

What's not so great: Size (big), doesn't fax over wi-fi, scan to e-mail difficult to set up
Overall, this is a pretty slick printer. I was a bit disappointed that the printer doesn't fax directly over wi-fi...instead you have to plug in a phone cord. I'm not sure if this capability even exists, but when I read this was a wi-fi printer, I thought it would fax over wi-fi as well.
Set up went pretty well, although the setup disc kind of just stopped after the printer part was set up without setting up the wi-fi and fax capabilities. Not a big deal, just had to re-run the set up disc and it picked up where it left off.
I also thought that scan to e-mail would just mean you scan a document and choose an e-mail to send it to. Instead, it requires you to know the SMTP server name and some other technical info that I had no idea where to find. Not a big deal because you can scan a document wirelessly and it will show up as an attachment to an e-mail or as an Adobe or Word doc.
The print quality is pretty good so far. I read that the black cartridge costs only five dollars to replace so that's good. The printer looks very nice as well. Black and dark grey with a very cool touch screen. I didn't realize how large the printer is, though, it's huge and pretty heavy.
Other than that, very pleased so far with this printer. Filling out the registration gives you a FIVE YEAR warranty, unheard of with printers and many other electronic devices. CNET gave an HP model the nod over this one for Editor's Choice but look at the owner reviews for it, they are horrible.

What's great about it: Easy to set up, love the business card scan feature and the scan to e-mail. Cool Apps with web-connected touch screen
What's not so great: a little challenging to figure out how to download the bus card scan, but great feature once found
I love this product. I was able to easily set it up in 35 minutes and the touch screen interface walked me through the entire process. I love the scan to e-mail feature and the touchscreen quickly walked me through how to set up my gmail account. Now I can scan things and e-mail them with one touch. The touchscreen that is connected to the web is cool technology. The quality of print outs is great and the cost of the ink seems very reasonable compared to competitive products.
I would recommend this to a friend!

This thing is a Joke, if you plan on Scanning/Copying/Faxing anything at all get a different printer. The first one I got didn't work at all, after calling Lexmarks Tech support department (a waste of 2 hours), they mistakenly sent me a Pro 205 to replace my Pro 905, wasted another hour with their support dept. and finally received a proper replacement, which I will admit worked better, though not well.
The autodocument feeder does not recognize a single sheet of paper by its self, you have to open the flatbed and place it in manually. I know it sounds so terrible... however if you place a stack of paper there, it consistently takes multiple sheets, and almost always leaves the last sheet there.
If this is a scan, then you have to start at the beginning and in order to avoid frustration as it will continue to take multiple sheets, you just wind up placing each document individually into the flatbed.
If this is a Copy then you have to go through your document and see what pages didn't copy and redo them and then reorder your copied document.
If this is a Fax then you are going to have to call the person you faxed and see what pages they missed and resend those.
If this is a scan, then you have to start at the beginning and in order to avoid frustration as it will continue to take multiple sheets, you just wind up placing each document individually into the flatbed.
If this is a Copy then you have to go through your document and see what pages didn't copy and redo them and then reorder your copied document.
If this is a Fax then you are going to have to call the person you faxed and see what pages they missed and resend those.
If you try to Scan/Copy/Fax something that is not a perfectly flat, pristine document (ie a mail piece) you better iron it first, any kind of bend or fold and the auto-document feeder will not recognize that it exists...
Unless you want to waste all your time opening and closing the document lid scanning/copying/faxing pages one by one, this printer is not for you.
If you can care less about the scanning/copying/faxing function and want a printer that is slower with poorer quality than its competitors and has terrible support... This is it!
I have spent countless hours being jacked around by their tech support, i cannot return it to the store purchased from as the serial number doesn't match the one on my receipt thanks to their swap. They promise to return calls and never do. They promise a refund but tell me it will take 5 to 7 weeks to process. So now after buying a Lexmark I will be out of a printer for almost 3 months.
I know its Shiny, but if you wish to copy/scan/fax then Move on!
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
