I purchased this camera for general photos. It fills the bill. It is simple to use, even for me. I am not well schooled in camera operation. Using this I may be able to take good pictures.
What's great about it: Easy to use. Many features for this price. Long battery life.
What's not so great: Digital zoom is a little fuzzy at higher sittings.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Easy to operate & set-up. Manual zoom is fantastic, which also translates great onto print. Powers up & down quickly. I enjoy the Li-ion battery (no disposables to hassle with). Just be careful not to drop it as the body does not appear to be metal. Good for a first time owner, i.e. tweens, etc. as the price is reasonable in the event that something happens to it.
What's great about it: Ease of use & set up
What's not so great: body is not metal

I bought a case for it since it only comes with a handstrap other than that I LOVE it and recommend it for a good quality camera for memories to come.
What's great about it: easy to use and it the charge plug goes into the camera!!!!!! so cool

I have used this camera a couple of times and am enjoying it. It is small enough to put in your pocket comfortably. It takes good pictures unless you zoom then quality is not as good. Good camera fr the price. Very simple and easy to charge.
What's great about it: It is fairly easy to use and the pictures are of good quality. Easy to charge.
What's not so great: Picture quality with zoom is not as good

Very happy with the J38. I've owned five different cameras from four different companies, so I know the range of qualities out there. This camera captures blues and greens quite well (some other cameras out there wash these colors out, unfortunately). Pictures appear very sharp and clear. The J38's panorama feature is awesome - take three shots in a row as you move side to side, and it will stitch them together on the fly. Also nice is the built in recharger: no need to take the battery out of the camera to recharge. (No memory card is included, but Best Buy had a SanDisk 4 GB card on sale for $15 when I purchased the camera.) For around $100, this is a great buy. The screen is pretty big, so I recommend getting a screen cover to prevent accidental scratches (yes, Best Buy has some easy-to-apply covers, too).
What's great about it: Sharp pictures, good colors, easy to recharge

I was looking for a budget camera just to use for taking to pics to upload to facebook, etc and purchased this camera at bestbuy.com about a month ago for $89. I was a little skeptical at first after reading some of reviews mentioning poor battery performance; however, I decided at such a great price it was worth a try. Boy am I glad I did. For a “budget” camera, it’s far exceeded my expectations. It’s super easy to use, the design and style is very sleek, the metal housing is much more durable than the plastic ones of its comparables, the screen is a nice size and easy to view, it’s very easy to navigate through the menus, video quality is that of a camcorder, and my favorite thing is the “auto scene recognition”… turn this feature on and the camera takes all of the guess out and does the work for you… your pictures come out clear and beautiful (even in low light)! Oh yea, that battery issue… not an issue at all for me (must’ve been user error). As long as the battery is inserted correctly (which it’s color coded so you just line-up the color bars), you will get a full charge in a couple of hours. I used the camera taking picture after picture, and a few uploads, for close to two weeks before needing to recharge. My only dislike is that it doesn’t have a headphone jack for private listening when reviewing videos, but the built-in speaker does have a volume control. Also, the internal memory is not so great. My conclusion is if you’re looking for big bang for little buck, this J38 is the way to go!

This thing takes incredible pictures. Theyre so crisp and clear and the colors in the pictures are realistic and vibrant. It really shows everything like its live in front of you. It actually makes you look a little better than what you think you do. Its so easy to use, all kinds of options. Its well built, metal case instead of cheap plastic. Its a really solid camera. All you need is a memory card. You can use the camera without a card but it will only store a few pictures. It comes with directions and a picture program both on a disk. I love everything about it and I wish I had it a long time ago. You cant go wrong with this one.
What's great about it: Beautiful pictures, well made
What's not so great: I like it all

Already had a digital camera in the family (my dad's two year old Canon PowerShot), but I wanted my own camera so that I wouldn't have to keep borrowing it when I wanted a camera. I received Best Buy Gift Cards for X-Mas and decided that I was going to use them towards a digital camera of my own...but I wanted to research as much as I could to make sure I was getting a quality product without stretching too far, I didn't need all the bells and whistles, but I still wanted something I knew would take good pictures. After numerous comparisons in the $100 range, I kept coming back to this particular camera. The fact that it was 12+ MP at a price normally reserved for 9 or 10 MP intrigued me as I saw other 12+ MP cameras starting at around $129...but I also wondered why a camera like this was so cheap. So I read the reviews and more often then not, the reviews were very positive...I was put off by a couple of negative reviews that decried the poor picture quality when they used the camera. I took a chance and so far, I have seen nothing wrong with the quality of every picture I have taken so far, which leads me to believe that those who left negative reviews were either using the wrong setting or just happened to get a defective camera. I generally keep the camera set to Auto and let it adjust to the conditions, and more times than not, pictures turn out good. My only real gripe with this camera is that when you record video, but as I don't really see myself recording a whole lot of video, it's a minor inconvenience to me. Other than that, I look forward to all of the amazing pictures I'm sure will be taken with this camera!
What's great about it: Ease of use, good picture quality, image stabilaztion feature works like a charm
What's not so great: No zoom function when recording video

I did my research before buying this camera (previously bought a kodak easyshare m320 that I took right back pic quality was horrible). It was hard to find any negative reviews for this camera and i know why. The picture color is so vibrant. With the macro function pictures are so clear and crisp. The camera is so easy to use there is no delay when shutter is depressed. I've been taking pictures all week and turning it off and on I only used 1 of the 3 battery bars. I love that it has a rechargable battery that you just plug the camera into the wall. This was important, previous camera that I had for years would eat through AA batteries. I am very pleased with this camera and looking forward to taking great pictures.
What's great about it: Easy to use, Long battery life
What's not so great: Can't find a thing wrong

This camera is honestly amazing! The picture quality is AMAZINGG!!! Everything looks so good. It's 12 MP so it should! The price is perfect for a camera this good. It's actually shocking that it isn't more expensive! The features are so easily simple to use and you don't even have to read the owners manual to understand the camera! BUY It because it was probably the best thing I have ever bought!

For the price, the camera did everything I wanted to.. The pictures were pretty good. Its a pretty basic camera with good response time. All I was disappointed was about the lcd screen. The last camera I had was a panasonic lumix fx model... I didnt have to worry to about scratches on the lcd as I did with this one. I got pretty bad scuff marks after putting this in my pocket after the 2nd day of having it. Otherwise, the camera was pretty great for the price they are offering
What's great about it: takes great pictures, stabilizer works pretty well
What's not so great: lcd scratches easily, zoom is a little lacking
