What's great about it: Works for xbox 360, ps3 & pc, great sound quality, comparable price to better sets.
What's not so great: Seems like a bit too much mid's in the mix, but not bad.
Listen, if you're into gaming this is really a great headset, the sound quality on games like Halo, COD and L4D really come to life with these; you won't know what you've been missing. If you're looking for a professional headset, The AX 720's don't quite stack up to the Astro A40's, but they're half the price and still impressive. I haven't tried all the turtle beach models, but I tried the x1 and x3 and tritton's are better.
I would recommend this to a friend!

What's great about it: Sound for games/movies are great
What's not so great: i feel like ill break them if i pull them open to far
I have had a few friends online say this headset is GREAT. Xmas i picked up a set of x12s from Turtle Beach and is a great headset as well. 2 months ago i picked up the ax720 and im happy with em and love the sound. for movies and games i pick the 720's but for music and all that x12's are great. over all i love the 720's and i would tell others to get em to if they have the money. but if your not a big spender then jump on the x12's which are only $60.

What's great about it: Quality of sound and durability
I love these headphones, I have had several pairs in the past and this one is hands down the most amazing, the 7.1 sound quality through the optic audio is just amazing, the cable for the headphones is so long I can see 20 feet away. And I love that the mic comes out of the set and the ease of use adjustment controls for the game sound / mic sounds is awesome. Hands down my favorite set of headphones.

I use the head set every single day and I can honestly say Im completely satisfied with them. you can hear exactly where the explosions and shots and even flies buzzing around. a tremendous experience overall!

I liked this headset for the first 2 months then the mic just stopped work and I am very gentle when using these. so I went to best buy and traded in for new ones and to my surprise 2 weeks later the mic just broke on me again. I am done with trittons I going to trade these at best buy for turtle beaches I have had enough of this.

Bought these head phones to replace Tritton AX180 headphones on my PS3. I had the AX180's for a long time and was happy with the brand name. When I picked these up I was excited to plug them in and hear all the great sounds of MW3 and Battlefield 3. Setting them up was a breeze. Unfortunately, they are not worth the money. There was a constant electrical hum when things were quite. I troubleshot and moved wires around to make sure there was no interference. The salesman said although they say surround sound, it's not real surround sound. He said real surround sound would cost $600+. On-line, others with mic's sounded distant and muffled. I moved from setting to setting to correct the sound but it did not work. In order to pick up all the sounds the volume had to be high...Too high. Overall, it's an okay product but not worth $130. I am returning mine and going to use my old AX180's that are taped up.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

What's not so great: wires still seem archaic but a necessity with sound this superior
the money turtle beach spent on getting the MW3 license would have been better used to mimic the tech these Tritton headsets have. anyone who picked up those MW3 Turtlebeach combo packages, RETURN THEM. DOn't be intrigued by wireless headsets, you will never get the sound quality for gaming as you would with wired. No technology exists currently to transfer DOLBY DIGITAL 5.1 with bluetooth. I hated that these were gonna have wires but with clarity I hear during multiplayer matches, TOTALLY worth it. Buy some 3M tape hang your new Tritton headset on the wall keep wires out of the way...problem solved. Price is reasonable, it will easily hook up to your computer. I strongly STRONGLY recommend this item, you will hear so much more detail in the game as opposed to listening through the tv. Another great feature is the separate volume controls for both game and voice control, so if people in your lobby are really loud and annoying turn them down with out affecting game volume. If you are a parents shopping for your kid they should be doing the chores no doubt when they see how awesome these are. Major Pus you won;t have to hear the sound of gunfire and explosions all the time coming from their room. If you read this whole review with out already leaning towards buying this headset YOU WAITED TOO LONG

The Tritton AX 720 offers excellent performance whether you're into games,movies, or music. When it comes to giving you an edge while playing online shooters this headset is second to none. You not only hear enemy gunfire and movement, you hear the direction and distance of it as well. My only negative is the durabiity of the mic in particular. Around a year or so you will notice the detachable mic become more and more loose and eventually it will start to go out little by little. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND getting the 2-yr protection plan for those who plan on using this headset alot.

I have had to return this headset twice in four months.
I tried to contact Titton for this product, and received a "It's not our responsibility" response.
The problems:
Headset becomes very loose after just a few weeks of use.
The cable quality is very low.
The inline volume control is decently heavy, and fairly short off the headset. This was where the first one failed, the cable broke on the headset end of the inline control.
The mic becomes very floppy.
Some parts that it needs for consoles don't come with it, but are free through the companies Gameshark brand website. (Not where you would normally look)
To summarize, when these work they are great, but don't expect long life.

What's not so great: Easily broken, the warranty is a must.
I am torn on this product, it is great and makes FPS so much better (you can always hear exactly where people are around you), but my mic stopped working after only about 3 months. You can control the gameplay audio and mic audio independently which is nice, however you can't hear your voice in the headset.
Knowing what I went through I would absolutely buy it again, I spent the $20 bucks on the warranty, so I just picked up my new headset this afternoon.
The one thing you need to know, on the newer Xbox 360's if you use HDMI out then you need to buy the adapter in order to use the optical out, which you need for use with the headset. I had some trouble finding it, I don't think Best Buy sold them in store, and it's another $20 or so.
In reality this is a $170 set up, 20 for the warranty, and 20 for the adapter.
I would recommend this to a friend!

alright first off i have seen pros use these at mlg events only with the astro mixamp but still pros have used these and if your a noob you can use these to. they are great for the price tag of 140 you cannot beat them easy to set up as well stylish

With newer models of the PS3 the headphones optical cables aren't compatible. It looks as if it was made as a 360 product first then a a couple of cables for ps3.

I recently bought this headset and used it, it works excellent for the most part. The mic doesn't pick up your voice all that great. But when going through my manuel I noticed that in the contents of the box I was SUPPOSE TO RECIEVE EXTRA HEAR CUPS AND A HEADRAIL. Which I didn't have. If im buying a $130 headset I want everything Im suppose to recieve. My username is the same as my youtube channel, I just wanna know if anybody had the same problem. CHECK YOUR BOXES!!

Tritton has to be one of the worst headsets that you can buy. I had mine for 3 days and the Microphone wont work. ive had trittons before but those were the AX Pros, there is still no difference those also worked terribly and stopped working within a month. If you want a quality headset, just buy turtle beaches because trittons are the worst you can get..

Although the audio performance of these headphones is unparalleled, these issues are not:
--THERE IS NO 3.5mm AUDIO INPUT (SERIOUSLY!!)
--If you care about cleanliness, these things are a rats nest of cords
--The power cannot be shut off on the headphones so a huge orange T will be constantly glowing in the periphery of your work/play space
--A volume controller that obviously uses a resistor hangs at such an awkward distance from the headphones that it just dangles in the air against your body; this wouldn't be a problem if it didn't weigh 1/2 lb and get extremely hot. Luckily, a clip is provided that if you used, would completely stretch out the neck of any tee shirt.
---The engineers must have just got everything working for these headphones and quit. Why should the consumer have to deal with these numerous blunders?

I picked up a pair of these to replace a pair of Turtle Beach X41's that kept powering off randomly (even with fresh batteries and re-pairing with the base unit#. Sound was great a little boomy in the bass which tended to wash out the mids. Would've kept them but while the ear muffs adjusted down and fit ok length wise there wasn't enough give and were really tight on my head giving me headaches after a while from the pressure.
Also I noticed during louder portions of the game #playing CoD:MW3) I found myself talking louder than normal because unlike the turtle beaches the tritton's do not have mic monitoring so you can't hear yourself and realize you're "yelling" at everyone.
Other than that game/chat balance was easily adjusted. Set up was a breeze. Great headphones just didn't work for me.

I had a pair of Turtle Beaches before i bought these, the sound quality on the Trittons are much better than these Turtle Beaches. But when playing games such as COD the distance in sound is worse. It is hard to tell how far people are from you but you can hear them. I just have truble telling how far they are until they are right on top of you.

First off, i'm a turtle beach user, so i wanted to try out a new brand to see if it could replace my X12s. So i decided to go with the AX720s, foolishly thinking that i would be a really good buy, but after play 3 Free for All games on MW3, i regretted buying this thing.
Setting up: Wasn't that bad, yet i had to unplug my piggybacks from my surround sounds so i wouldn't interfere with the Trittons.
Sound: The sound isn't as good as I thought it would be for a 130$ headset, it's decent, but wasn't as good as I thought it would be.
Durability: The worst i have ever seen on any headset, this headset can break so easily even if you but the most care into it, you can't barely bend the headset without risking the breakage of the headset itself, and the mic can break anytime.
Static / Mic: Both of these cons is what brings the headset down ALOT, the mic is very low, so no one will be able to hear you at all, so you will need to turn up the vol. mic, but this will lead to static, which will cause you to be unable to hear any of the game sound.
In the end, this headset doesn't do what it said it would do, i'm really disappointed, and i'm returning this headset today.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

What's not so great: can't disconnect the headphones from the Dolby decoder. the headset itself is almost TOO sturdy if thats possible
So this was a pretty spontaneous purchase. i had just recently read up on Dolby Decoder processors for headphones and obviously wanted one. After doing a bit of research and comparing a few different headsets for my PS3, i landed at this one. Cheaper than the TB equivalent and after holding and using both this and a few others in store, this one blows them away.
After i got it home and out of the box it took me about 10 minutes to set up. I was at first very disappointed with the sound quality, it was not what i expected. but after reading through the instructions ( i recommend you do this, don't throw them out) i found out i simply had to change a few settings and after i did that they sounded FANTASTIC. Actually, even more impressive than whatever it was i had expected from them.
The build quality is great. you pick them up and they just feel sturdy. i feel like i could throw them at a wall and they would laugh. The ear cups feel a bit large around my small ears so the very tops of them sit on my ear weird which can be a bit uncomfortable for extended use but when you hear how good these sound you really won't even care.
The ONLY thing i can complain about, and this is a very minor complaint as this is something it never claims to do anyway...is i wish i could A. use the Dolby decoder with my other studio headphones which are way more comfortable. and B. use this headset with my ipod or my macbook (you CAN hook these up to a computer, but its a bit of a process..its not just plug and play and honestly i don't feel like taking the time to figure it out) Also sound controls such as treble/bass settings or the option to switch between 2.0, 5.1, and 7.1 would be nice..but again, a very minor complaint if you can call it that. If i could do those things, this headset would be literally perfect. But considering it never claims to do those things anyway, this is a good buy if this is what you are looking for
verdict: from a casual gamer's standpoint who plays for maybe a few hours a week if that, still worth every penny

These things rock, starting to hear things I've never heard before in not only games, but movies and music. The price is pretty hard to get over, but they definitely deliver. The only thing that was making me hold back is that they are made by Mad Catz, never once a good experience with one of their products, gave these a shot, and don't regret it.
