What's great about it: simplicity
What's not so great: not much
bought a new Best Buy computer and needed to transfer all my old information to the new hard drive. this cable and software made it painless to do so. It worked exactly as advertised. it is also much less expensive than having someone else transfer it.
I would recommend this to a friend!

What's great about it: Transfers data as described--and then some
What's not so great: Instructions poor: Don't prepare you for all it does
Transferred data from older Compaq Win XP machine to new ZT Win 7. I labeled my existing files on the new machine differently from the old, so they wouldn't be overwritten-not mentioned in instructions. This worked for my general files, but not for MS Outlook. Inbox email was fine, but other new files I'd set up were removed -basically, it deleted the new machine's Outlook & installed Outlook from the old machine. It also deleted Internet Explorer from the new machine. "Restore" fixed things & kept the transferred general files. Believe I could have accomplished this with less heartburn using a flash drive.

The transfer cable worked just as anticipated. It was easy moving date from my old computer to the new. The instructions might need a little re-work, but other than that, easy to use.

This was the greatest migration product I have ever used. Moved Windows XP files / environment to Windows 7 in just a couple of hours. Simply great!

I recently bought a new desktop PC, so I had the opportunity to use the Windows 7 Easy File Transfer feature between the old computer and the new one. I followed the instructions and was transferring files in no time! It took about 1 hour overall to transfer four user accounts and all of the associated files. My only complaint is the $24.99 price tag on this cable -- seems like it could easily be half the cost and, at that price, would be more palletable, especially considering that I would only use this cable once every few years.
I would recommend this to a friend!

What's great about it: Does the job (Windows 7 transfer of profile and files from an older PC.
What's not so great: Price
A little pricy but certainly made the process of connecting Windows 7 computer to an older OS to transfer files and profile. Should be in every PC tech's bag. Many will gather dust of folks who just want to transfer once to a new computer when computers some years from now will have an easier method.

What's not so great: Expense for one time use
The migration cable made the process of changing from one computer to another very easy. I like quick and easy. I can't say the dollar value was there for the cable itself, however, it was there for the little time spent and the ease of use in the transfere. I'm not sure I would recommend, but i would share my experience and might suggest other options.

The packaging and promo information did not clearly indicate the that this divice could not be used with Windows 2000. My intent was to directly transfer data from my lagacy laptop to my new laptop operating Windows 7. The limitations of this device are not clearly stated.

The transfer cable would not work, transferring files from a computer with Windows Vista to Windows 7. I returned it to the store.

What's not so great: Does not transfer major files or programs
Make goin from your old computer to your new computer very very simple. Transfering files from my old toshiba to my new HP was seamless. I also used this on my parents laptops and it made my life and there lives much much easier i didnt have to go through it and setup there email for them again etc. it did it all
Great for people that are not the most computer savvy.
I would recommend this to a friend!

In conjunction with the EasyTransfer program, this works great to transfer your old files and programs from the old PC to the new one. I feel it's a bit pricey though. I think $40 is too high.

What's great about it: Made moving to a new computer quicker & easier.
What's not so great: Wish the price was lower, but balanced against the time I'd have spent to do it manually, it was worth it.
I approached switching to a new computer with trepidation, but this cable and the clear instructions made it easy. Note that it transfers only files (data), not applications.
I would recommend this to a friend!

If you are upgrading to a new computer, this is a must-have purchase. The cable and the software make the migration of your old data and configurations to your new computer almost effortless.
Just install software packages (like antivrus or office productivity) on the new computer, install the transfer software on the old computer, connect the cable and sit back and let it happen. Your data files, accounts, settings, and configurations are transferred automatically.

The directions for use were easy to follow and it move all my data and made set up on my new laptop very easy. It would be great if it could move programs as well, but that is not a show stopper if you have the installation media.

It is a nice tool and worked great but it is a shame that it can only be used to transfer data from an XP or Vista computer to a Windows 7 computer. It should be able to transfer between all versions back and forth. It is way too limited for the money.
