What's great about it: Excellent focus and processing speed for action, great optics for clarity
What's not so great: A bit heavy, dark or low light action can be a challenge
I wanted a camera that could deliver high speed action for baseball and football games with a WOW! While I had my heart set on a Nikon D7000, I decided to go ask some about which camera can give me what I want for the action shots I want. In this price range, all cameras should give you great portraits and take great shots, but what if you are looking to capture sequential shots of a pitcher and immediately turn to catch the action of a play erupting at second base? Well this is the camera for you if you aren't ready for the pro models but want pro results. Slightly noisy and heavy so a monopod is recommended and don't take it to your library!

What's great about it: Solid body, good lens and features
What's not so great: China-built materials for lens.
This is my first Canon DSLR camera, coming from a Sony and Nikon background. I decided to get the 7D rather than the 60D or the 5D. I'm not a professional photographer, but an advanced beginner.
I found the features of the 7D to be plentiful, easy to setup and use and they just work.
Overall, I would recommend this camera if you have a few hundred bucks to spend over the 60D, but can't afford the 5D. A great overall camera!

What's great about it: Sharp clear photos,
What's not so great: bit of a learning curve
I finally decided to buy a high end camera so I could pursue my love of photography and my grandkids. The best money I have ever spent. I love this camera, a bit difficult for me to figure out how to use the picture software. The photos of my grandkids running and throwing snowballs are crystal clear and beautiful. A bit of a learning curve with the camera but well worth the money.

What's great about it: Great exposure both in Aperture -Priority Mode and Shutter-Priority Mode. Manual Exposure works perfect with MF.
After 1 year of intense research, the Canon EOS 7D is a must have. Excellent exposure in Aperture-Priority Mode and other user controlled exposure modes. Less noisy at high ISO. Battery fully charges in less than 2 hours and last about 6 hours with continous shooting. Great at high ISO. Produces razer cut images at fast shutter speed. Less editing required captures detail in color. Not as heavy as I expected. Easy to learn and operate.8 frames per second. AF works perfect on continous shooting. It's costly but worth the bucks. Added images that show detailed settings and results..

What's great about it: Top notch equipment !!!
What's not so great: Money is always the down side of anything !!
This canon camera launched me into the 21st century !! I have been useing Minolta for 35 years and made the switch back to Canon ( had a Canon AE Program in 1979 ) and I'm glad to be back. I have nothing negative to say about the new 7D. Very easy to use and takes breath taking photos.

What's great about it: Value for dollar, photo and video quality, well built
What's not so great: A little heavy, but so what???
Phenomenal pictures!!!! Got this camera after seeing a good friend's pictures and video from his 7D, I have to say that I am extremely impressed. I have not had time yet to go over the learning curve on this unit, but what I have gone over so far is easy. Great unit for the dollar.

What's great about it: Handling, speed, flexibility of settings, 3 user-setting banks
As a longtime Nikon user [going back to the film days during which I tried many different brands with the exception of Canon and ultimately settled on Nikon] the Canon 7D really impressed from the first shot - exposure, sharpness, colors, handling.
This is a serious camera with great flexibility. It could easily overpower the abilities of the user not up to the challenge; this is not to knock any buyer's skills but, rather, a warning that if you're expecting point-and-shoot ease of use, you might be disappointed.
My only "complaint" - 28mm is a silly length for a crop-sensor kit lens - not wide at all - but I knew this going in. The bonus here is that the kit lens works great with my EOS 1N [film is NOT dead].
I'm very happy with my 7D and the price at Best Buy was excellent! Plus triple reward zone points! What's not to love?

THIS PRODUCT IS THE BEST CAMERA I HAVE USED. ITS SUPER FAST, NOISE CONTROL WITH HIGHER ISO'S IS AWESOME, RAPID FIRE CLEAN SOUNDING AND QUIET, ITS GOT A BEEFY FEELING TO IT WHICH I LIKE (DEFINITELY DOESNT FEEL CHEAPLY MADE), AND THE IMAGE QUALITY IS JUST SUPERIOR TO MY PREVIOUS T3I. What's great about it: Great iq, amazing AF
Upgraded from my xti and what a difference. Great value for the kit(actually cheaper than the body alone when I picked it up???)
IQ is amazing and AF simply is the best i've seen, beats even the 5dmkii's measly 9pts.
All the camera I need - would love full frame but too much$$$ at this time.
Highly recommend for anyone trying to get the best crop sensor dslr on the market.

What's great about it: Speed, customized settings
What's not so great: Included lens may affect sound quality
This is a great camera for an advanced amateur photographer. The kit lens doesn't work very well though when used in video mode, and may create small audio noise. You won't notice it if you shoot naturally noisy scenes, but in sound-sensitive environments, like music or singing performance, the included lens is hardly a choice. I would recommend buying a body only and a higher quality lens if you are a person who likes to have excellent sound.

What's great about it: great pro-sumer camera for the price
What's not so great: its a bit heavy
This is as close to a pro-sumer camera as you can get from Canon. With top of the line picture and video modes and a great kit lens in the 28-135mm you really can't go wrong. The camera does take some time to get used to if you were previously using a 60d or other type of DSLR. Overall the main thing is that it only has 2 automated modes and the rest are variations on manual. It also doesn't have a flip out screen like the 60d, which hasn't seemed to be an issue for me. It is also extremely solid and very heavy. I would recommend a good case and lens filter to protect your investment along with an extra battery. Also there are lots of great books and videos you can buy to really get the most out of this camera and come up to speed on it fast.
