It's pure garbage, I used the cleaner the first time and it worked well, but when I used it the second time it sprayed water all over and was useless, it takes more time to clean the vacuum itself than to clean the carpet. Instead of 20 min I spent 2 hrs trying to figure out what was wrong and calling customer service. This product is garbage.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I have had this machine for 2 years and I use it a lot! I have 3 dogs, 1 cat, and an 8 month old baby baby boy not to mention the fact that I suffer from OCD and can't keep things clean enough. I ust this carpet cleaner at least once a week and sometimes more. In the 2 years I have owned it I have never had one single issue with it. It cleans amazingly. I wish I could use it on hard floors but I love everything about this machine. The attachments work great. I am always cleaning either carpet or furniture with this. I do however clean the machine itself after every use. I make sure all parts are cleaned so I hopefully nothing goes wrong with the machine and so far I have not had any issues. I would recommend this to anyone.

What's not so great: Poor desing and quality
I bought the bissell 3 months ago, I this is the worst machine I have ever bought. I had a Hoover carpet cleaner for 10 years and it worked great! After using it over 100 times, it finally wore out.
I decided to go buy a new carpet cleaner and was talked into the Bissell - That was a big mistake.
1.. Does not scrub the carpet
2. Uses too much solution
3. Leaks solution
4. You have to empty the dirty water every 5 minutes, it stops picking up after about a pint of dirty water is in the tank.
5. Does not heat water
6 Hose attachment does not work
7 Have had it in for service twice (10 days per time) and still does not even come close to the quality of my old Hoover.
8 Service agency does both Hoover and Bissell and they told me the quality of the Hoover is much better and a better design.
9 Terrible design, clean water and dirty water in same tank.
10 You have to dilute the cleaning solution, the Hoover does this for you automatically.
11 Stopped dispensing solution and clean water through hose - then main unit stopped working after 1 use on both machines I have gotten.

What's great about it: Easy to put together, cleaned great, solution smells great
What's not so great: It is a little heavy, after a day of cleaning, my arm will hurt tomorrow!
This morning I woke up to a horrendous mess, my 2 dogs must have caught some kind of virus and the result was mess after mess all over my main floor. I have always relyed on professionals to clean my carpets. Not only do I have 2 dogs, I also have 3 children and run a home daycare, so needless to say I got my carpets cleaned frequently. I always thought a home cleaner wouldn't get the job done. After lots of research online this morning, I decided on this cleaner, purchasing the extended warranty along with it. I'm a little frightened about how excited I am about a carpet shampooer! My dog stains came right out, along with other stains that had been there after the professional said they wouldn't come out. I went slowly, and so much water and solution was sucked out my carpets were totally dry in about 3 hours. I am just thrilled with the way my 13 yr old carpets look. I did read quite a few reviews that said it would quit working after a few uses, and I have only used it once, but I'm extremely pleased with the results!!

it works very well but the parts break off easily. This is my third vaccum in 2 years. Get the extended protection is well worth it. After several months the canister bracket broke. It took over three months to get a replacement. After I got the replacement (back ordered) the front brush was broken. Customer service was great. They had one in stock and sent it immidiately. To summarize. I would recommended only if you get the extended warrenty.

I previously had contract with national carpet cleaning company. I was unhappy because many stains would resurface in a few days. I was paying too much for the results. I used the Bissell to clean my carpets before Christmas- 6 rooms and 2 hallways cleaned. Because I was able to control the areas on concentration, rinse out, and suction up much to the water, old stains did not resurface. I have not had to do a second cleaning, but by the time I do a second cleaning I would have saved on cost. The cost of the Bissell Proheat 2X Healthy Home Upright Deep Cleaner cost less than 2 professional cleanings..so from now on I save on cost of cleaning.
The only complaint...and it did not affect cleaning..was the hose on the back got in my way. I need to double check to make sure I got it on right.

What's great about it: The advertising campaign that sucks in the unsuspecting.
What's not so great: Everything else.
The first time I tried to use it, it did just an "okay" job, but I noticed it kept leaving trails of fluid and water all over the place, whether I depressed the triggers or not.
The next time I tried to use it, as soon as I turned it on it started dumping fluid and water in one spot, without me even going near the trigger. It dumped so much liquid in the middle of our front room carpet in 30 seconds that the carpet and pad are now ruined.
I called Bissell's "customer support" (somewhere offshore of the US) and got a lot of "we're sorry," but not much support... other than the operator eventually hinted that there are major problems with this machine that she "couldn't talk about on the phone." That was my first hint that all was not as advertised with the BISSELL Proheat 2X Healthy Home Upright Deep Cleaner.
So, I called the Bissell contract warranty repair center in Chantilly, VA, and as soon as I mentioned the product the representative, before I could even start to explain the problems I'm experiencing, he went off on a ten minute rant about all the complaints he's getting every week from people who've bought this machine. He said he has 23 years experience in damage restoration and carpet cleaning, and this unit is badly designed and the quality of manufacturing is awful. He also said that even if it manages to work properly it is barely up to the task of cleaning as advertised.
It has wasted $300 of my money and ruined the carpeting in the one room where I used it. I am going to make it my mission in life to post highly negative reviews of this supposed carpet cleaner on every website I can find, in hopes of helping anybody else out there to avoid wasting time and money on it. I doubt that Bissell has the conviction of conscience to make good for the damage this thing has done to our house, so at least I can take every possible step to ensure they don’t profit from pushing it on unsuspecting consumers!
Fortunately, Best Buy, as usual, is going to stand by their reputation and is refunding my full purchase price.

I bought this 7 months ago and used it 3 times. On the 4th time it sucked, but it did not spray water or cleaner. Now it is going to the repair center. Luckily (so far) it is close by. Not sure how much it will cost me to repair.

What's great about it: Does a great job of cleaning, lots of options

I wanted to buy a carpet steam cleaner for my condo. So I bought this one because it had great reviews and sounded like it would do the job. And I used it the last couple of weekends, and my carpet looks great. I was surprised how much dirt it picked up.
The cleaner is pretty easy to use, once you get the hang of it. There are some options like the upholstery cleaner I haven't tried yet. But cleaning a carpet is just like vacuuming, except every so often you empty the dirty water (which is very easy I must say);. I like the spinning dial that tells you when you need to do that.
The toughest thing was the plug-in wire, it's quite long and I kept running over it. So I had to hold the wire while I shampooed. And I had to shampoo with the attachments off of the storige part. But otherwise, this was a great buy and I'm happy to own it.
I would recommend this to a friend!

1st time used the motor smoked. Had to MAIL it to Bissell for repairs. 3rd time used no cleaning solution/water sprayed out. Customer service said I have to take it to a service center for repairs at my expense. Not worth the time or expense. Junk....

my husband and i rent a house. we have two dogs and a doggie door. eekkk! with the recent snow and rain iour carpet was so dirty i was nervous for when we moved out. this carpet cleaner iremoved all the dirt from the carpet!!! even pick up tons of hair from the dogs that i am embarrassed was still there after vacuuming. the only bad this is that it works so well that we had to change the water out a lot. and used up all the cleaner. totally worth the money!!!

Ok my first review, but not my first Bissell...first off, my only complaint is the bladder tank needs to be bigger so you can use the machine longer without having an extra trip or 2 to your sink to dump and refill. Otherwise, it cleans great! If you had an older Bissell machine, this works differently, it puts out ALOT more water and solution than an older style machine does. That being said, read the instruction manual, it explains exactly how to properly clean your carpets with this machine. The older machines you used to have to make double the amount of passes and with this one it does it with less passes. Ok, as far as people saying its heavy, yes its is a little on the heavy side, but I see this as an advantage as the machines brushes will push down into the carpet more deeper and the front suction will also push deeper to suck out more water as well. I ask anyone, would you rather have a machine that is very light that doesnt penetrate your carpet as deep, or have a heavier machine like this one get the job done much better. I'll take this heavier weight Bissell thank you! The Clean Shot feature is nice, no need to carry a spray bottle around with you when trying to get out those stains and spots you didnt notice when you started cleaning your carpets. As far as other people complaining about how much solution it uses on the heavy traffic setting, dont expect anything less than alot of solution! I dont see why this seems to be a problem when it isnt! Personally if I were to use that setting because my carpet is that dirty I'd prefer alot of solution, rather than not enough. Last little point, when we were origionally carpet cleaner shopping, we tried out another comparable brand at Sears, (they sell them here at Best Buy as well) and did a test run, then sucked up the water with it, then fired up a Bissell and the bissel sucked up more water that the "other brand" wouldn't. That was enough to sell me on it. Proof is in the pudding or so they say! Also, read the manual! Having owned Bissell's before, the manual is great for telling you how to properly do your carpets and the troubleshooting guide will fix alot of common issues I see people complain about from time to time.

We bought this to save our carpet. Our dogs had, we thought, ruined it. We had heard about the Bissel, and were recomended to buy one with 2 brushes.
We chose this model since it was the top of the line, and Bestbuy had a sale one it. We chose the Pet style 2X concentrate, and bought the biggest bottle. Good thing because our 20x20 room used the entire bottle. Although, I used the heavy traffic setting for the entire room. I am sure if I do standard cleaning, the bottle will last longer.
Set up took a little trial and error, but pictures made sense. I recomend filling and dumping in your bathtub because you will spill or slop water both times. Like I mentioned, on the heavy traffic setting, it uses a lot of solution, but I wanted this first cleaning to work, and it did. I did as the manual suggested and it took it up. I would recomend wiping the bottom of the cleaner off each time you dump and replace the water. Pet hair accumulated on the bottom, and is drug along, occasionally lying in clumps. When dumping I had to rinse out the bladder, as some solution got in it. The drying feature seemed to help. It took several hours to fully dry, but could be walked on with socks in about 3.
Ok, the only bad part is clean-up. Screws to take out so you can get brushes clean, and you need to rinse well all the plastic pieces, or a white film will appear. Also, wipe up any liquid, as this to will turn white as it dries. Taking the belt off the brushes was necessary to clean, but a bit of a challenge to replace.
This is for big jobs. Small spills will take more time setting up and cleaning up than the job itself.
Great purchase. My wife says it saved the carpet.
All is well.

What's great about it: Lots of tools. 2 in 1 Water bladder.
What's not so great: Uses a LOT of cleaner in "High Traffic" setting. Heavy. May be hard to push for some folks.
Easy to assemble. Easy to prepare for use. Unit is not light, may be hard to push/pull for some folks. It works...it works really well. It has a lot of tools to use in various situations. If you have had your carpet professionally cleaned occasionally, your carpets will produce some dirty water. If you have never professionally cleaned your carpets, you may end up with swamp muck. The key for me was going slow and working in small areas. Our main problem was the kitchen to living room transition carpet. We had a seriously dark path in this area. After three separate cleaning sessions, the carpet is fluffy again. In the first pass, the darkness was taken out, the second and third passes raised the nap and really made it look good. We had been considering replacing the carpet. Since we've cleaned the carpet we're holding off because the carpet looks so good. Now I have a defense system against my grand daughter's sippy cup spills. I would recommend this to my family.

My low-traffic carpet had been cleaned by a professional 6 months ago and this steam cleaner pulled out so much dirt the water looked like coffee! Great for pets and pet stains, even old ones.

I did hours of research on purchasing a carpet cleaner! I'm SO happy I choose this one. My carpets, at least I thought, are fairly clean as we never wear our shoes around the house and being the first owners of our house. I mainly purchased this because I'm training my toddler to potty train. I finally had to use it today after purchasing it 6 months ago (I have the red one). For an average size room I was shocked at how dirty the water was after running it three times, I think I could have run it one more time. It picks up the dirt even my Dyson vacuum didn't pick up. I personally recommend using it on Light cleaning the first few runs to get the hang of it as I used all the cleaning liquid when I didn't have to. I can't wait to clean the rest of my house with it. It was super easy to assemble, I'm happy with the quality of the tools and the machine itself! Thanks Bissell!!!
I personally don't think it's that heavy. Just yesterday, I injured my whole back and left arm during a fall and I was nervous I may aggrevate my pain - I had no issues even though also I'm left handed but I do admit it gives you an exercise!
Good luck on your purchase! I wish I knew I could post pictures I would show you the color of the water still after 3 times!

What's great about it: Does a fantastic job of cleaning the carpets. Vast improvement over the original proheat 2X's
What's not so great: It is very heavy and not easy to push. Also the red mesh filter is in a difficult location and not easily accessable.
The machine has many great features. It does a wonderful job of cleaning carpets. The carpet looks brand new. The dry air system helps the carpet dry in half the time over the old Pro Heat 2 Xs. The down side is the red filter. It is not easily accessable and difficult to remove. The machine itself is heavy and is hard to push forward and even harder to pull back towards you to remove the solution. Unless you have a lot of muscle, this machine is difficult to handle.
Overall it seems to be a excellent rug shampooer.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I got the Bissell Proheat 2X Healthy carpet deep cleaner right before the Christmas holiday. Up to this point, I used it once in one of the guest bedrooms where my dogs spend alot of time. I could not believe the good job it did. It got all the dirt and odor out. I thought I would need to clean the carpet twice but this carpet deep cleaner surprised me. I must say that I'm very impressed!!! I read reviews before deciding to purchase this deep cleaner and most were positive reviews. But I still had my doubts. I was trying to decide which carpet deep cleaner to purchase between the Bissell Proheat 2x and the Rug Doctor (which is much more expensive). Up to this point, I am glad I got the Bissell Proheat 2x (which is cheaper). I have lived in my house for nearly 9 years. I previously owned 2 Hoover carpet cleaners which did not do a good job. The Bissell Proheat 2x actually got up 9 years of dirt that the other deep cleaners could not pick up (entirely). Right before using the Bissell Proheat 2x, the carpets were nearly brown with an unbearable odor. Now my white carpets smell fresh and look as clean and new as it did when I first moved in my house.

What's great about it: Easy to set up and use. Room smells great after using it.
What's not so great: Uses cleaner fast.
Great product for the price. Easy to set up and use. This is the first carpet cleaner I have ever purchased and should pay for itself by not hiring a carpet cleaning co.
