What's great about it: Easy to use, excat
What's not so great: Batterie life is bad, GPS sensor takes time to connect to satelites
The Garmin Forerunner 405 is an easy-to-use GPS watch which really helps to track your trainings and your physical progress during the year. The heart-rate monitor is exact and helps to train within the comofort zone. The GPS sensore is quite accurate and it's always interesting to see how much and where you have been running. I personally use Garmin Connect website to monitor my trainings. The connection to the PC / MAC is easy to fails sometimes and needs a couple of trys.
The battery life is really bad and the watch is often empty after already 4hours. If you have switched off the GPS sensor it takes up to 5 min to get connection to satelites. This is sometimes disturbing.

What's great about it: variations
What's not so great: GPS/ease of use/rechargable
GPS is spotty in moderate cloud cover.
Lots of great viewing options but a little tricky to get used to how to set up and use. Well constructed. Lasts about 2 hours on a recharge if using GPS and about 5 or 6 if not.

What's great about it: Features and computer sync
What's not so great: Hard to figure out many of the features.
I haven't really had the watch long enough to rate the value and the durability but it has some great features. It is a little tough to use and I am sure I don't get as much out of the watch as I could. The sync to the computer is easy and the analysis is really great. All that together has made me want to get out and run any time I can.

What's great about it: Lots of useful info about workout
What's not so great: Battery runs out when not in use
I love my gps watch/hr monitor. It has definitely changed how I workout and made my efforts more effective. The watch helps me monitor the effort I am putting forth, with the heart rate feature, while seeing my distance improve over the same time and heart rate. I can see my improvement as I look back in the history as well as see where my strong/weak points are with the detailed readouts.

What's great about it: FeatureS
What's not so great: User interface very difficult...
Attracted to the 405 by its great features. Really liked the look and feel....then I took it out of the box. I am techie....but was no match for the 405. Note 405 did nothing that the Quick Start guide said it should! First two touches and the language went to Latvian or ..????? Trip back to BB and we got it somewhat working.....but wow, never experienced anything like this!! The guide also did poor job of telling how to connect to computer. Rather simple but no explanation. Download and install Communicator, then Ant Stick agent. Still prefer the 405, but the 110 I bought after returning the 405 is a snap! Garmin can do better!!!!

What's great about it: Easy to use
I would recommend this to runners and others! I have been very happy with it but the only two things I am not a fan of is how sensitive the touch system is and sometimes the upload process tends to not work right away but that has not been often enough to bother me.

What's great about it: Lots of Data and GPS mapping
What's not so great: Ambigious web site instructions
I think this is a great tool for training. It's easy to use once you get used to the bezel ring navigation. Make sure you pay attention to the download for the ANT+ stick for transferring data from your runs.

What's great about it: Not much
What's not so great: Everything
I bought mine about 4 months ago when they were 369$ and it's given me nothing but trouble. The battery drains really fast if you don't put it on the charger every night. The screen locks up and you can't do anything with it except drain the battery and charge it and it works for a few days then does the same thing. The screen gets very faint and hard to see. Like the other review the Bezel as a mind of it's own! I'm not sure if got a lemon or what! But I have to say Best Buy was awesome and even after 4 months replaced it. It will be at the store on Wednesday so I will let ou know how the new one does!

What's great about it: Works well with other Garmin accessories.
What's not so great: Touch bezel is too sensitive.
I use it for three purposes, for walking, for running and for cycling. It does a good job of monitoring your heartrate, and steps with the accessories that are included. I purchased the cadence accessory to help monitor that function on my city bike. The only knock I have on it is the sensitivity of the bezel, especially when sweaty. It has a mind of its own and starts scrolling through screens without input.
