What's great about it: Buttons are easy to press
What's not so great: It doesn't have the weekly review like my old F4 Polar Watch
I had a polar F4 watch for two years before. I like this one, but I just miss the weekly reminder that my other watch gave me which had my weekly totals. Now I have to look for it and it's not even weekly, it's since your last 'reset'. So every week I have to reset it. I like the new strap, it's so cold every time I have to put it on. It's takes a couple of times to get used to, but otherwise it's good.

What's great about it: Quick set-up, easy to use
I was hesitant to purchase a heart rate monitor, but I started an intense workout routine and decided it was necessary. I love this monitor! It was easy to set-up, the directions were clear, and I've had not trouble using it. I used it for at least 20 workouts, and only once did I have a problem getting a reading. I think I just hadn't wet the chest strap enough. Other than that, it's been a breeze to use.

What's great about it: User friendly
What's not so great: Not a fan of the color; was not available in other colors
Love this product! Easy to set up and easy to use every day. Was only seeking a heart monitor to track calories burned while exercising and time my workouts. Works like a charm! So happy I invested the $90! So worth it!

What's great about it: comfortable, tracks calories, durable, coded signal, shows in/out of zone, simple
What's not so great: NOTHING. LOVE IT!
I've been working on exercising every day, losing weight, and getting healthier and in shape. In order to do so, I've been tracking my calories, but I was struggling trying to guess-timate how many calories I had burned in a work-out. I was going by what the treadmill and elliptical machines said, or what people recorded in forums for p90x and insanity, but I knew it wasn't close to being accurate. I heard about heart rate monitors that calculated calories, and I did a bit more research on the different ones available. There were so many products that people complained about loss of signal between the chest strap and watch, or the strap breaking. I found Polar has the best reviews, and I like this model because it was under $100, and unlike the really basic polar model it had the perfect amount of extras. I was worried about the strap being uncomfortable, but it is REALLY comfortable, and you forget that it's even there. The monitor part can be disconnected from the strap to save battery life. And I've NEVER lost or had any problems getting a heart rate signal. Now that I have it, I don't know how I can workout without it! It records calories, a visual of where you are in your target zone, how long you've worked out, and how long you've been in the zone during the workout. I turned it off, but there is also an option for it to beep every 10 sec or so when you're under your zone or over your zone. But I do a lot of cardio burst work-outs, so it was beeping too much for my taste, but I think it would be extremely useful for long distance running. The signal is also coded so that it won't cross with others if you are in a group of other people wearing HRM's (gym, marathon, etc.). Overall: Great durable and accurate HRM, a lot of great features, and comfortable.

What's great about it: Easy to set up, accurate readings, good price, digital readings are bold for easy monitoring during workout
What's not so great: I honestly haven't found any problems!
This is the perfect heart rate monitor for someone who wants an effective and accurate HRM that is cost effective. I will be completely honest, I DID NOT want to spend as much money as MSRP is. However when you think about a closet full of clothes that no longer fit, $90 + tax is a lot cheaper than a new wardrobe. Goodness, ONE good pair of designer jeans will cost that much if not more. So I just went for it and couldn't be more thrilled! :) I wasn't looking for all the knick-knacks, and accessories, and one feature after another. I really just wanted an effective, easy to use piece that would tell me my calories burned. This does that VERY well for a great price!
The manual was easy to read with clear instructions on how to set up the HRM. It was easy to input my information and setup took about 5 minutes total. I was a little nervous about the chest strap, but it's not at all uncomfortable and is adjustable to fit many sizes. I also like that the chest strap transmitter is coded so that there is no interference at the gym, keeping my readings accurate. While during a workout, you can set the watch to beep when your heart rate is outside of a target area. (There is a silence mode for those that care to wear this watch at all times and not just during a workout.) The beeping is a great feature to help guide you through a workout so that your workout can be the most effective for either fitness improvement or fat burn, whichever one you may be working towards.
The face of the watch is large and the digital readings are large as well. This is great for monitoring your calories burned or heart rate during the workout. It's SO easy to see. The wrist watch itself has just over 20 size settings, so it will fit comfortably on just about anyone's wrist. The menus are easy to get to and information updating is a breeze.
If you want all the bells and whistles, this probably isn't the HRM for you. There is no GPS, no media player functionality, and unfortunately will not walk the dog for you. If you just want a simple HRM that will accurately read your heart rate and calories burned while you walk the dog that can also be worn as a wrist watch that is cost effective, this is your watch!

What's great about it: Tracks heartrate, calories burned and training zone perfectly
What's not so great: buttons are hard to figure out.
This is an awesome product and it works really well. I just wet the strap once and it continuously reads my heart rate very effectively. It gives me more motivation to work out harder. The only CON I have is the buttons are a little hard to figure out. If there was some type of wording or better symbols it would make this device perfect.

What's great about it: Comfortable, easy to use, reasonable price
What's not so great: None so far
I started with a HRM that was just a watch unit but kept having to update it manually. I switched to a HRM with a chest strap with some reluctance because I thought it would be uncomfortable. I read a bunch of reviews and decided on Polar for the brand.
I have been very pleased with how easy it was to program with my biometric information. The chest strap is extremely comfortable and fits under my sports bra. I no longer have to manually update since it gives me a constant read through my workout and displays the zone I need to stay in so no having to remember the numbers in my head.
It is water resistant to use when swimming too.
The online resources from Polar are also very helpful and free and help me to log my workouts and graph my progress.
There are a couple of other Polar models that cost a little more and link to Polar directly, but for the price of the FT4 I don't mind manually entering my workout results into the website since it only takes a couple of minutes.
The FT4 is also coded like the FT7 is so that you don't get the crossed signals in a gym.
I would definitely buy this again!
