What's great about it: sturdier than most portable drives
What's not so great: A little slow when burning or playing videos
Overall a good purchase for the money. The case is sturdier than most of the portable drives available while still maintaining a compact size. Also allows you to run additional power from a second USB port if you find that one USB port doesn't provide enough power to burn error free. This is the only external, non-A/C powered drive, that provides this capability. This is a nice feature when you consider that you purchased the drive to be portable and not tied to a power outlet.
I would recommend this to a friend!

What's great about it: It is portable
What's not so great: Will not record to most CD-RW or DVD-RW
This product was highly rated but I have not had a good experience with this product. Although it is a breeze to install, it would not read 6 out of 10 music CDs I tried to put on my system; received numerous error messages, especially telling me that there was not a disk in the drive when there was; would not record short (5 mins or less) DVD videos no matter what I tried; also would stop recording music to CD before all music was recorded. It is hit or miss on what this device will read or record.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

What's great about it: Plug N Play with xp or vista. Single USB cord needed.
What's not so great: No lightscribe.
Just bought this from Best Buy and was burining cd's and dvd's (with Nero 9) within a few minutes. Plug it in with supplied USB cord and ready to go in a couple minutes. My HP laptop doesn't need second power cord attached. Very compact. Would be nice if was lightscribe compatible but I knew that when I purchased.
I would recommend this to a friend!

What's not so great: nothing
Great slot loader at a much lower price than the apple drive. Only powered by the USB cable, so it's easy to carry with netbook when I travel.
I would recommend this to a friend!
