What's great about it: Stylish, easy-to-install, great features

This is the first time I have used SiriusXM and their products. I am very pleased at the XM Onyx. It is stylish with different background colors and easy to read display. The installation instructions are straight-forward and easy to understand. The features that I like is a large display, easy to read information, and a great listening experience. The one thing I dislike is that a remote did not come with the vehicle kit. A remote would have been nice indeed.

It's a bit harder to change stations while driving but overall easy to hook up and use. Missed having satellite when the old one stopped working!

What's great about it: Cost Effective, easy to use, easy to install

I got this unit as a present from my wife. It has been a great unit. I had a Sirius subscription a few years ago with my old car and loved it. Been wanting to get it back but did not have a receiver. I got this unit and did the installation myself. It was a breeze from running the antenna wire to power wire and programming the unit including signing up for service. It could not have gone smoother. The only thing I miss is the pause feature my old Sirius radio had. Other than that I have been extremely pleased.

What's great about it: installation was simple
What's not so great: sound quality blows
If you are trying to get service in your car and not concerned with sound quality then this is a great budget friendly solution. Its easy to install but due to the wires you may get frustrated looking at them running all over the place and tying up your DC outlet. The static that feeds through if your in a city/urban area can be frustrating. The swivel mount is okay, but not really great for my purpose. I would have prefered to have a longer one but the two sided tape is holding up fairly well despite the heat. Overall, you get what you pay for, but if you really want sound quality just buy a system that has a Sirius/XM reciever.

I've had this for two days and really like it. Easy to set up and the screen is really sharp. This unit replaced an express dock and play. Overall this is a better unit than the express but does lack a few features 1) only 10 presets 2) the display will show what channel you're on but if its a preset, doesn't show what preset it is. For a new user who's not familiar with what each preset is, can make for some duplication when changing channel. 3) no knob to switch channels, its up/down arrow keys.
#s 2&3 aren't that big of a deal but only having 10 presets keeps it from being a 5 star

What's great about it: Easy to hook-up.
Bought this radio 2 weeks ago and I LOVE it.. I have an older vehicle with a radio that doesn't have an auxilliary jack. What's great about this radio is that it will transmit the signal to an unused FM station. Works like a champ. I also purchased the home docking station and it works great as well. I highly recommend.

I travel over 1,000 miles every week and drive through some places where the only radio signal is for gospel or rap. This Sirius Roadie saves my life. And I can move it to my company car everytime I get a new one with almost no trouble.

I bought this as a gift and bought the "Vehicle Kit" but it has no way to interface with the audio system if you don't have a aux input on your radio. So you will also need a FM device or cassette adapter to utilize it.

Purchased the device to replace an older XM unit that was failing. The screen is nice and bright, and the unit tunes well. I was dissapointed that some of the scroll features on my prior unit were not present on this one. With this unit, you must scroll through the channels after picking a music genre. I haven't found a way to scroll through the channels in numeric order, though. All in all a good purchase.

What's not so great: only 10 presets, no pause - record feature. no suction cup mount for windshield.
i'm a truck driver night shift and have to install and remove unit every day. after several weeks no problems. the reception has been good with antenna stuck on mirror mount. (using antenna provided) i love the display dimmer feature but miss the 30 preset feature that my old starmate had as well as the live pause feature. this also does not have the favorite song, sports team notifier to tell you when they are on. the biggest installation drawback is it only mounts to dashboard using either a sticky / screw on or air conditioning vent mount. i solved this problem by co-opting the suction cup mount from old starmate with screw on mount provided. this works perfect. all-in-all it is a very nice radio that is easy to use and i'm happy with it. note; the reason i got the xm onyx instead of another sirius starmate was to get MLB programing wich is not available to sirius radio's.

Had to return the unit because it was not working properly.
Had HORRIBLE Customer Service at Best Buy when took it in for review- The Tech "REFUSED" to look at the item because we did not bring in the install receipt- he refused to look it up in the computer.. After several attempts even by a Supervisor- the Tech finally looked at the unit and found it to not be working properly-- Sent me to another location to pick up another one... Then Sirus Radio charged me another connect fee all though i just bought the item less then a week prior!

I miss the "old" XM radios that actually worked and worked well. My first XM radio, the Delphi SkyFi is still operational after 10 years, but I've gone through three OnyX receivers in five years! The first one wouldn't power on after about 18 months, the second had massive antenna problems where the receiver was in a constant state of "Checking Antenna Connection," and had to be tossed, and now the same thing with this one after three months. Even buying a new antenna doesn't solve the problem. I'm done with these cheap, piece of junk receivers and don't suggest them at all; unless you like buying a new receiver every 18 months, I'd avoid this model.

The reception isn't that great. There are only 9 buttons to change the channel. It was installed below the dash so I have to reach down and change the channel. The buttons are hard when you push them. The store clerk told me there was a remote in the box but there was none. I can't change the channel while I'm driving or I might end up in an accident. I wish I would have looked at the reviews first and bought the more expensive model with the remote. The store clerk told me the only difference was that the more expensive one had rewind.

The radio is nice the controls are clean and easy to use. The display is simple and tells you evrything you need at a glance. The only problem I have is the vehicle kit that comes with it. It seems I only have 2 choices on how to mount it. One is to put an adheasive sticky stuff on my dash or hang it from a vent. I would prefer a suction cup on the glass but it does not have one. If you move this radio from one car to another or just want it out of sight, it could be a hassel.

I bought this to replace an old unit that came out of another car that had been in an accident and was too old to be reinstalled in my new car. My older unit held 30 presets - this one only holds 10 presets. Sirius radio has 140 channels – why make a radio that can only hold 10 presets? It isn’t enough!
You can change the colors of the lights and make them brighter or dimmer which I wasn't able to do on my previous unit. The menu options also appear pretty large on the screen which is helpful.
One complaint is that even though my old unit was more than 5 years old, I had no problems with static. When I bought the new unit, the guy that installed it said that if the unit runs through the car radio there can be increased static and for $20 extra they can put some kind of antenna or adapter to get a better signal. Since I never had a problem in my previous car and unit with static, I didn't opt for this. The static was awful from the beginning and the directions to change the pre-preprogrammed station were confusing. There is still static at times (very cloudy or foggy days) but it isn’t enough for me to pay another $20 after paying $190 total with installation.
