What's great about it: Fast, reliable
What's not so great: Software didn't work. Had to find IP in dhcp lease table
After experiencing nightmares with the Western Digital My Book II, I purchased this hoping that it would not freeze up all the time and need rebooting. This one is a gem compared to the WD unit. The only issue I had was finding it on the network. The software could not see it so I had to go into our router and find the units MAC address to find out what the IP address was; but after getting the IP it was easy to configure with new shares and get the backups going.
This product has... Reliable, Included software is not useful, Fast, Quiet, Large capacity/good size
About me... Technology guru, Business Professional, Need a simple backup solution

What's great about it: Setup
What's not so great: Nothing so far.
I had this up and running within a matter of minutes from installation.
Went to the IP address, ran through the setup process and I was good to go.
Figuring out how to set up access permissions and shares was pretty straight forward, then I moved on to mapping drives throughout the network.
The only feature I haven't been able to get up and running is the FTP and that's more or less due to a lack of trying.
This is a great option for the home user, but keep in mind at Raid 1 with mirrored data you will only have ~2TB of space.
I personally thought that would be more then I'd ever need, but after transferring data from laptop #1, I've already filled up 360gb.
This product has... Reliable, Included software is not useful, Fast, Attractive design/portable, Quiet, Large capacity/good size

What's great about it: Doesn't take up alot of space, easy to install and use
What's not so great: nothing
I'm very happy with this server. It has worked without any problems
Keep in mind that with the unit set at raid 1, your total disk space is
2 TB. I didn't understand when I bought the unit,but i set the raid to 0
and it works just fine that way. I also use it to backup 3 computers.
The backup software is very easy to use - basically one click will
backup your computer.

What's great about it: Great media storage
What's not so great: Need a larger version. lol
This is a great server for home or work needs. I have 3 of these now and they all have great speed as long as on a gigabit network. I only wish seagate made a 8T. Bought my first one 6 months ago and so far so good. They run 24-7 with no problems. They seem to have good cooling fans in them yet quiet. They are small enough to fit just about anywhere. over all, i just love them.

What's great about it: Fits my requirement
What's not so great: media server functionality
overall i am happy with the product, initially i do not want review this product since i have disappointed on some things, which got resolved.
i bought this product for below reasons:
1) raid 1
2) network access
3) media server
4) shares by function.
5) backup
by default it comes with raid1 preconfigured with standard shares, i have deleted all the shares and created my own shares (read online guide), created public and private shares which solves one of my requirements.
network configuration is very easy, i set it as static IP and works great.
initially enabled media server functionality but did not like it since managing files little difficult and time taking and it is not as fast to access the list if you have more than 1k+ files, i have stopped media server.
i like this part, i created number of shares and users and set the access level, publich and private also.
backup software does not work for me, i am using WD Anyway backup software, and it works with it great.
====
i had connected my nas and media player on to my G router and was getting 9MB/sec writing speed (lan) 2MB/sec wirelessly, then i bought Gega switch and moved all my lan connections to it and then the performance is increased by 40%, i was able to write to this disk at 16MB/Sec which is pretty good.
it works with my network media player LGbd390 and works great, this player play password protected CIFS file systems and it is very fast and i have another media player to play iso's since lg bd390 cannot play iso.
i had arranged all my music, movies, photos into a separate folders and it was easy to browse through all of my digital content whenever i want to.
overall i am happy to have this unit, had it for a month, no issues so far.
i would recommand to have a Gegabit network or switch with good media player.
besybuy price is very competitive and they offer great finance.

What's great about it: Great price for the storage size and mirrorring.
What's not so great: User guides could be better laid out.
I use the BlackArmor NAS to back up all my PC and laptops at home, plus to stream iTunes muisc. Now I have all my music, pictures, and videos in one place protected by RAID 1 disk mirrorring. The BlackArmor NAS also interfaces with my DirecTV DVR, where I can access all my music, pictures, and video's so that I can listen/view them on my 52" home entertainment system. A must have!!! Total protection with remote web access to your files...
