What's great about it: Easy to set up, beautiful, nice big screen
What's not so great: can't think of anything!
I researched laptop computers extensively as I was making this purchase for my 70 year old mother. User friendly was of utmost importance. This laptop is amazing! I arrived at her house, took it out of the box, and turned it on. Set up was a breeze! No glitches at all. I connected a wireless router, printer, and downloaded other software. Again no problems. My mom uses this computer daily to keep up on emails, read the newspaper, and shop. She LOVES it! Especially the big screen and Windows 7! This is the first Gateway I've purchased. I'm sure it won't be the last!

What's great about it: Great Value
What's not so great: Monitor went bad
I don't like Gateway, and I had serious doubts before I purchased it. However, I couldn't pass up the deal. The value was great.
6 weeks of limited use and the monitor developed artifacts. Narrow horizontal lines ran across the screen and obstructed the picture. It was unusable. It was covered under mfg. warranty, but had to be shipped out of state to be repaired. Major pain.
If that is the only problem, I think I still got a good deal. Unfortunately, every time I turn on my computer now, I expect something else to break. Buyer beware.

What's great about it: graphics and design
Never had a gateway before but I love it. Processor is fast, graphics are great and it is sleek and lightweight. Also easy to set up and use. The price is great.

What's great about it: screen size and clarity
What's not so great: haven't found anything
I have used a few different laptops and I have found that this particular system is well worth what I paid for it. The screen size along with the clarity is a big plus. I was surprised at the speed of this laptop because I never figured that I could push a button and it does what I have instructed it to do. The battery life is fair, not the best but hey no real complaints. I believe that I have used it for about 3 hours before having to charge it, so thats not bad at all in my book. Overall I am really pleased with this laptop especially since I have never owned a gateway.
I would recommend this to a friend!

What's great about it: Fast, Very Nice Hi-Def Display, Lot's of RAM
What's not so great: Finger Prints Show Up, About 2 1/2 hours battery life watching movies on Hulu
This is a very nice laptop computer. Still getting used to Windows 7, use it a lot like Vista, but without all the errors. It has a ton of features I haven't even gotten around to using yet. I find new, good, surprises all the time. It doesn't get as hot underneath as my previous Gateway Laptop. All of the jacks are located on the sides, none on the front to get in the way when typing. Some people complained about the single mouse button. I don't see an issue with it as it works the same, just click toward the left or right end. The touch pad has scrolling about 1/2 inch from the right edge, takes a little getting used to, but works well. The volume controls are nice, work like a touch screen and don't require any key combinations. I feel like it's a good deal for the money. I am not a gamer. I watch movies, surf the internet, email and use office software for school. It does all of that in flying colors.

What's great about it: Everything; the display is amazing, the performance is incredible, the webcam is really good...
What's not so great: It gets dirty easily since the lid is glossy. The Keyboard is not specially design for the computer
It's an excellent laptop; cheap, great display, multifunctional, light weight (it weights less than my 15.4" Sony VAIO).
The keyboard is kinda awkward, i mean, its bigger than usual (idk if im too used to my old laptop which is smaller). And the other keyboard issue is that it has the bluetooth key but the laptop doesnt really has bluetooth.
Other than those insignificant details, this laptop kicks as*es.

Oh, and the picture that shows bestbuy for this laptop is wrong. I dont have a picture but i bet ull like it. (its black with with grey symbols like chemical chains)

What's great about it: Easy set up, quick start up, doesn't overheat when used for gaming
What's not so great: Sometimes end up dragging instead of just moving the cursor when using the touch pad mouse
I believe this to be the best gaming computer for the price. It is quick, quiet, and does not get hot (barely gets warm) when using it for demanding online games. It looks great and is lightweight. I love the large screen. I was a little worried about it coming shipped, but it was packed expertly and came in perfect condition. I couldn't be happier with it!

What's great about it: Nice big display, fast processor
What's not so great: Trackpad buttons too far from pad
This laptop is really big with a great display and fairly light for its size. Processor is quick and runs well with Windows 7. The trackpad buttons are uncomfortably far from the pad itself. You have to stretch your hand to click on anything.

What's great about it: solid hardware specs and not to much junk software
What's not so great: fingerprint and dust magnet
Was looking for a laptop for browing the internet and light work and entertainment duties. This one definately fullfills that role and never feels like it's running out of breath. I was a little worries about the 5400rpm hard drive, as I am used to using 7200rpm hard drives in my other laptops, but this one sure keeps up. Not to mention the 500GB capacity. Don't know what I'll do with all that space. If you're not looking for a graphics design or gaming machine, this is the perfect home and business computer. Although it's size might suggest heftiness, it's actually quite lite and easy to carry around. Stop reading reviews and get this. My in-laws also bought one right after seeing mine.

Very satisfied with my new laptop. I like the size of the screen, it has tons of features my previous laptop didnt have. my only complaint is that the keys are bigger and took adjustment for me to use.

I researched and read reviews on this laptop for a month before I made the purchase. Have had it for a few weeks now and could not be happier. The display, speed, features, etc...all are fantastic. Nothing bad to say about this at all.

This is a great computer! Nice design and good looks. The price and screen size is what really attracted me to this computer. It is hard to find a laptop with a 17" screen, 500GB hard drive and 4GB RAM for $600. The 3.5 stars editor's review on cnet.com really helped seal the deal.
I mainly use it for surfing and some video. It is very quiet and runs cool. I have yet to try running something that will really give it a workout such as gaming but I am curious to see how it handles some newer games.
Battery life is VERY good. With just simple internet browsing and word processing, it can run for 4 or 5 hours. Video drags that down to a few hours or less. Dimming the screen can stretch it a bit farther. Granted these numbers are not scientific and are an estimation. Your mileage may vary.
It would have been nice to have a firewire port and native bluetooth. Screen resolution maxes out at 1600 x 900. Would've liked 1920 x 1080 but it's not critical.
I would recommend this to a friend!

What's not so great: Fingerprints everywhere, keys take some getting used to - flat.
I finally replaced my 10 year old PC wth this laptop. Great value with a huge screen. Shiny black case looks great but shows lots of fingerprints. Keys are flat and take a little while to get used to.

What's great about it: Laptop is nice looking. Large screen and the processor is fast and smooth with intel duo core.
What's not so great: Short battery life and still heavy to carry around.
I bought this for my dad and he really likes the large screen and the fast duo core processor. Internet connection is fast and pretty smooth if you have n modem. The laptop works flawless so far even though its been only a month.
The only real down side to the laptop is its size but for the price compare to the mac laptops, I'll compromise size for price.

Awesome laptop for the price. Able to play the Sims3 (which is very data intensive), run Windows Media Player and be online all at the same time. I absolutely love this laptop!!

What's great about it: Beautiful screen, nice design, big hard drive and lots of RAM.
What's not so great: The screen is too big if you want to use this as a portable laptop, but it's great as a desktop replacement.
Got this laptop for a friend. We searched high and low, and this one was the best in terms of value for the money. It has a large HDD, lots of RAM, Win 7 Premium. My friend uses it as a desktop replacement, so he doesn't have to carry it around much. It's a bit too heavy for that, anyway. But as a laptop on your desk, this thing rocks!
