What's great about it: Ease of use, sound quality, great value
I have tried 4 other not so great solutions for home audio both wired and wireless (Philips, logitech, Ipod docks) before finding Sonos and I cannot be happier. It is a breeze to install and has been working perfectly for the last 3 months I have been using. Our consumption of diverse music has increase a lot with the wide range of Internet radio options. The iOS apps work great!
The only additional feature enhancement would be to add more Internet content options and maybe even online music lockers!

What's great about it: Easy to set up, great sound
What's not so great: Expensive
This is a great speaker for a single room, providing good stereo sound. It is very easy to set up and the Sonos system as a whole provides fantastic whole house audio with this as a major component.. The only downside is it is a little pricey.

I recently purchased the Sonos system and wow, it's an amazing system and I love the coupling of it and Spotify. The Play 5 speaker is in our living room and has no trouble filling up the space (it's 22' x 17').

I just dont get to control the system beeing ou of the home-network. Maybe I have to read a little more. I got to control it from notebook, galaxy SII, iPhone, iPad. Again, FANTASTIC!!!!

What's great about it: sound and connectivity and control using ipad or iphone
What's not so great: a little pricey (but worth it)
I purchased the Sonos system to replace a Bose SoundDock speaker that blew from playing too loud. The Sonos Play 5 has much better sound quality that can fill a large room with ease without any distortion. I have the Play 5 connected to a Bridge 100 and use my home's wifi and IPad to control my iTunes library, Pandora, and MOG music. The setup took less than 10 minutes and works flawlessly.

What's great about it: Collaborative music playing
What's not so great: Would like to see deeper integration with Spotify, specifically, Artist Radio.
We have a small 12-people company. We always struggled to have an easy way for everyone to play a bit of the music they love and share it with everybody.
We bought a pair of Sonos 5, alongside the wireless controller, and it's changed the mood on the entire office. Everyone gets to add to the queue therir own music, or tune Last.fm to their favorite artist. We even purchased a Spotify subscription which is great if you want to listen to a specific band or album. It was a very straightforward setup and everyone just uses their own laptops (with the desktop Sonos controller) to push music around the office.
We paired the two Sonos 5 in stereo mode, and later expanded the options with an Airport Express plugged in the Line-In of one of them. This allows employees to also push music directly using Airplay from their iPhones and Android (using DoubleTwist).
The synchronization of both channels is perfect, no lags or interference from wireless of any kind, even when our office is 100% wireless! Also, we never got to play it at top volume as it gets very loud (even with great quality). The office is about ~100 square meters, and it easily fills it all with music.
The instant mute option on either speaker is also great whenever the phone rings or someone has a conference call to attend. No more shouting "Someone please turn down the music!!!". You can even mute or lower the volume of the entire office right from your own laptop.
We don't use the wireless controller that much, actually, given that we're all sitting in our desks with our laptops and use the Desktop Controller software almost exclusively. However, at home (I also bought the same equipment) it's a different story altogether. When friends come home, they just pick the controller and start playing music they like. Everyone gets to replace or add songs to the queue, it's great fun! The most awkward combinations of songs for sure, but everyone enjoys it thoroughly.
Outstanding functionality, fun, and collaborative music playing. Great for work, great for home and parties.

What's great about it: Wireless
What's not so great: not water proof. I have to bring it in when I am done or if it starts to rain.
I was looking for a wireless speaker system for use on my dock and by the pool/spa. This unit is ideal. It allows me to play music from my computer, home theater system, streaming music from Pandora. I can take this wireless speaker unit anywhere in my home or on outside and completely control my music from my android phone.

What's great about it: Sound Quality for small foot print
What's not so great: Does not work with Mac Lion OS
You can not access your I Tune Library if you have Lion running on your Mac. Would have been nice to know prior to purchases before spending $450 dollars, box states works with Mac OS 10.4 or higher. You can access internet streaming. They are still working on resolving the issue.

What's not so great: Nothing yet
I don't know why I have waited so long. Bought the S5 to get a feel for Sonos. It couldn't have been simpler to set up. Internet radio can now be accessed so simply on top of what we had before. Sound quality is excellent for a unit that size. Can't wait to add to it!

What's great about it: remote control, good controller UI, good audio quality on the S5
What's not so great: does not stream music wirelessly + not great range between Zone Players can = hidden costs
I love the Sonos system in concept and although I was extending my budget a little when I bought the ZonePlayer 90 to attach to my home stereo set up and an S5 for my back office, I was sure if the audio was good it would be worth the price tag to be able to control and play my iTunes and MOG from my android or laptop. And to start with the positives, the audio is good and the controller's UI on both the laptop and phone is very easy to navigate too. However.
The first disappointment was to learn that if you want to play your iTunes, it's not just one Sonos device that has to be connected via ethernet to your router; wherever your music library is stored has to connected too. Which means if it's on your laptop like mine, you either have to resign yourself to having your laptop tethered and on whenever you're playing it on the Sonos, or you have to invest in a NAS if you want to regain your laptop's mobility. (Sonos tech support tells me some users are able to stream their library via WiFi but that it's an unsupported configuration -- ie. good luck if you want to try it. All I can tell you is that after fiddling with it for more than a week I can't get it to play more than 2 songs before the audio drops out, even though the same music files will play to my DLNA blu ray player flawlessly). So okay, maybe I can spend another ~$120-170 on a low end NAS like a 1 or 2 TB WD My Book Live. Next I find that my MOG basic subscription doesn't work with Sonos either and I've got to upgrade to primo ($10/mo instead of $5) even though MOG says that the added charge for primo is to have the service on your mobile device also, which I don't want MOG on my phone and which has nothing to do with Sonos. So I know an extra $5/mo doesn't seem like much but it does add up over time and other than MOG telling me that the upgrade is required by Sonos, no one can explain why I should be paying twice as much to get the same service through my Sonos that I already had. Finally, my S5 in my back office keeps dropping off the controller's zone options. Even though it's only about 60' away from the ZP 90 connected to the router, tech support tells me that because signal has to go through a couple exterior walls (it's a detached office in my back yard) that it's just not strong enough to consistently read that the S5 is there. Which makes it useless of course, but no problem they tell me: all I need to do is buy a ZoneBridge to set up between the 2 ZonePlayers to boost the signal. And I'm in luck because the price on those has just dropped to $50 (nevermind the clutter of yet another box in the house that to be plugged in and drawing power constantly). Bottom line, what started out as a $750-800 investment is over a year or 2 actually going to cost me well over $1000 to do what I thought it could do right out of the box. And considering I could already play my iTunes and my MOG in both my office/back yard (off my laptop and desktop speakers) and on my stereo via my blu ray player (not to mention having Pandora and a lot of the satellite radio stations that Sonos offers via VTuner on my player too), what is it I'm actually getting? Just the wireless remote control via my phone or laptop, a better UI than I have on the player, and the ability to sync both zones if I'm having a party. Is that really worth a grand? Not to me it isn't. I'll be returning the Sonos while I'm still in my 30 day window.
I'm not saying it's a bad system. I'm just saying as you read all the enthusiastic reviews, think about your home setup and how you intend to use it and you might find it's not worth the total cost after all.

What's great about it: Looks great, futuristic and clean.
What's not so great: Has power light on top that is bright at night, but can be covered easily.
I finally decided on the s5 after endless research. My aim was more in the Ipod Docking Stations, not in a wireless system. The Zeppelin Air and Geneva M were my choices above $500 and considered the Dre Beats because of it's beefy sound and powerful bass. Why is this product superior? It frees your device from the system. Picture lying in bed scrolling through endless free continuous internet radio stations and having complete control in your hand. Need an alarm? It has it integrated into the software. I woke up to one station early in the morning and my husband woke up to his own selection an hour later.
Now, for the sound. It's crisp and warm sound. It truly fills the room. This speaker does best in a corner so be sure to place it in one. Someone reviewed on here that they wish they could use 2 S5s as a right and a left. You can do this and I definitely will be purchasing another to achieve surround sound. Also, compared to other mp3 devices, this one does have an adjustable eQ worked into the software. It's basic, but still something. I am happy I made this purchase and feel like I invested my money well into a build-able system and not into a gimmicky docking device with breakable components and an inflated price tag. I'm surprised that I was able to get this quality for $400. Also, if you buy this product right now they give you $50 off the ZoneBridge (which is $50 more dollars and acts as the router for the system.)

What's great about it: Big Rich Sound, Simple Setup.
What's not so great: A little pricey.
Sonos S5 have made a believer out of me! Excellent sound, and extremely simple setup. Being able to stream iTunes, Pandora, or any radio station to any room in the house is amazing. And being a Apple fan boy as I am, the Sonos Controller software integrates with all my Apple products. I can control my Sonos from my iPhone, iPad, or Mac in the house!
The Sonos S5 is such a compact unit, with a big rich sound. I have a S5 in every room in my house.. Simply a great product, that delivers on it's promises.

What's not so great: Needs an Android control app. Pricey.
This was a Christmas gift for my wife. She loves being able to listen to Pandora or any of hundreds of internet radio stations from around the world. I will say that I think the unit is a bit pricey, but the sound quality and ease of setup and control is worth the cost. I wish they'd offer a discount for multiple zone players or for adding zone players to your system.

What's not so great: not sure yet
Have had my house wired for some sound but had to use the tv to push the web radio feed. Was a problem last party since people wanted to watch the tv also. This system is way better than I though. I bought pretty much every piece they make for my setup. I do like the S5 a lot. The sound is better than using the zone player with my current speakers. I would suggest S5's with a zone bridge hands down. No issue with the system at all, use my iphone to control it. The S5 is very good a puting out sound so one was good for 2 rooms, but my house does not have a lot of walls.
If I could make it work with my TV to replace my surround sound I would.
