What's great about it: Price, Memory, and Features, including a card reader standard.
What's not so great: Gateway Support
Christmas gift for my daughter, it is currently at the repair center in Texas. Worked great for about 3 weeks, then complete columns of pixels (top to bottom) began going all white. Talking to support resulted in being told that their "pixel policy" requires that I send the laptop to them and they will repair it for $199.00, even though it is still under warranty. This was after 2 days of updating drivers, updating the BIOS, connecting external displays, recovering the entire system, etc. I finally spoke to someone that was able to understand that I was not talking about 1 or 2 bad pixels, I was talking about entire columns of bad pixels, the laptop was not useable. They finally agreed to have me send it in for warranty repair but said I will have to pay if they determine that the (brand new) laptop had been damaged in any way. Felt I was taking a chance buying Gateway, am feeling like I should have followed my instincts.

My mom and my daughter love their new laptops. They both received the same one and the pick up at the store was wonderful. Although the online ordering was not the greatest.

What's great about it: Price, alot of computer for the price.
What's not so great: The network adaptor did not work and I had to return the laptop.
Excellent deal, it just didn't work properly. There was a problem with the network adapter. I returned the laptop to BestBuy. Excellent customer service from BestBuy. I would have tried another one if they would have had another one in stock. Ended up buying a Dell.

What's great about it: Good performance for the cost. Display is gorgeous
What's not so great: Large and kind of heavy. Impossible to keep clean (fingerprints)
Bought this for my son for Christmas. He does lots of video editing (with Sony Vegas). That meaty program runs smooth with no problems. He's usually running other programs at the same time (Steam, Skype, Firefox, etc) and haven't noticed any problems with multitasking as well. Runs all the games he plays (but he doesn't do hard-core gaming on the laptop).
The display is a beauty, the sound is pretty good. I don't care for the single-bar mouse buttons, but I guess you can get used to it...
Love the HDMI output. We've hooked it up to the big screen HDTV and watched several movies via Netflix. They looked and sounded great.
As I said, the glossy outer case is a fingerprint magnet. Anytime you handle it, it is immediately covered with fingerprints. But it looks cool when it's clean...
For the price, a great computer. I'm very happy with the purchase. Would definitely recommend if you're looking for a well-outfitted laptop without breaking the bank.

What's great about it: Great deal, easy setup, clear display
What's not so great: Keyboard takes some practice to hit the right keys
I haven't found anything that doesn't work. Movies are beautiful on the bright screen. Overall speed is great. Keyboard takes some getting used to, I keep hitting the wrong buttons, but that's typical for laptops. I like the red color, but only the top of the lid is red, the bottom and inside are black. Price is right!

What's great about it: Display crisp and clear, initial setup easy, relatively quick power-up cycle
What's not so great: Mouse pad operation, keyboard visuals
This laptop was a fine value which I would buy again (no buyer's remorse). The external design is attractive, the display is very crisp, and I've had no trouble with any program operations. The only real negatives are the mouse pad, which seems to require multiple taps and a heavy finger to operate (I've been through all the mouse pad options and haven't been able to improve it's operation), and a dark and unlighted keyboard that is difficult to use in low-light conditions. Even with these drawbacks, this laptop was still a good value.

What's great about it: Brand Name, Price
What's not so great: Didn't work, Poor layout of number keys
Unit would not pick up WiFi signal, sat on tech helpline for an hour, told to down load driver update, had to sit on helpline for another hour to activate driver update, still would only connect for 5 minutes at a time. Returned for an HP model that immediately connected to my WiFi and to my wireless printer!
Thank God for Best Buy's return policy.

What's great about it: LED screen, price, minimal bloatware, fast processor, runs cool, separate number keys, quality built
What's not so great: battery life, no backlit keyboard
Never bought a Gateway before and was surprised with it's quality built and I believe Acer had to do something with it. The screen is clear and bright and I love the wide screen format. The processor is fast and the wireless card is very responsive. The keys are flat and does need getting used to. The right/left click strip is stylish. The size looks intimidating but it's surprisingly lightweight. I upgraded the RAM to 4gb since it comes with Win7 x64. This computer was bought for my wife and the red color is very nice and so had to get a red colored external wireless mouse to go with it. Overall it's an excellent affordable laptop.

What's great about it: The screen is very bright and clear and very easy set up!
What's not so great: I have found nothing to complain about as of yet
I really like the computer. Windows 7 takes a little getting used to but is easier to work with every day. I thought the "mouse pad" on the computer was pretty sensitive so I now have a wireless mouse which makes things much easier.

What's great about it: At first everything.
What's not so great: Went downhill after a month of using.
We bought this in November and started having major problems with it in December. It started freezing and the screen would go blank all the time. It was running awful it took a half hour to get it started and get online. We bought really good virus protection and didn't use the laptop for anything more than your basic home computer. We're actually having it worked on right now haven't found out whats wrong with it yet. Hopefully the problem will be resolved.

What's great about it: Display Super Sharp
What's not so great: Very sensitive pad
Takes some getting used to, especially the new finger strokes on the touch pad. I am using Google Chrome and find it extremely fast. Not sure how good it would be for business but as a home computer it's perfect for what I need it for. And, it's such a pretty color :) LOL. Would definitely recommend.

What's great about it: Bright screen, Windows 7, great camera, 10-key pad
What's not so great: The mouse has a mind of its own. jumps all over the place
Overall the I like the computer, I primarily use it for business and some personal use. It was very easy to set up, It has great wireless signal strength no matter where I am in my house. I love the built-in camera, its very clear and bright.
The only bad thing is the mouse pad. IT DRIVES ME CRAZY!!! Its very touchy and jumpy and hard to control. I am considering taking it back because of it. Purchasing a mouse will help if I am somewhere where I can use it but not if I'm moving around.

What's great about it: 64 bit Win7 , HDMI , Gigabit Ethernet , Wireless N , HD LED Display , ATI HD 4200
What's not so great: no Firewire , no PCMCIA nor Express Card slots , only 4 GB RAM capable
This NV5335u only cost $449.00 plus tax & had more & better networking features than any other MFG at that price ( with the exception of the Black Friday Sony VAIO VGN-NW235F/W which were all gone before Friday )
Display is bright and contrast is good and not washed out like the Toshiba L505D-S5983.
Tested the Wireless N on an AD-HOC wireless network with my desktop system that also has wireless N and was able to maintain a 130mbps connection.
The HD audio and speakers achieve good volume as opposed to the Toshiba L505D-S5983.
(4) USB 2.0 ports are more than others in this price range.
The only thing I am going to have to keep an eye on is the keyboard because the flat receded style makes me feels like being very gentle on the keys. The pinch gesturing capabilities of the touch-pad are cool.
The cylindrical way the display is attached is cool and should save on broken hinges anytime soon. The power button being recessed into the end of the display hinge was truly ingenious. ( adjust your power settings and you can power on the system without opening the display )
This laptop feels solid and was well thought out to make other MFG's step up their game & provide all of these features at this low price... do you hear me Toshiba & Dell ?
The built in web cam is OK , I still prefer my Logitech 9000 pro for HD video & the mic is just so-so.
