What's great about it: "Melt" feature, sensor cooking, stoppable turntable
What's not so great: Light positioned too far back, open vent top into which items can fall, end-of-cycle beep cannot be turned off
This microwave is a fine piece of machinery which has won my heart. Its steam-sensing cooking works great on veggies and popcorn (hasn't burned a kernel yet!), and the melt feature works like a dream -- no more spattered butter all over the inside! There are two defrost features: a slower one which is gentler on the meat so the "corners" don't cook, and a fast one which gets the job done. This m/w had a feature I can't imagine doing without: a stoppable turntable for when I have a large 9x13 dish inside. Many microwaves don't have this necessary feature, and this plus the "melt" were must-haves for me. It has a special easy-clean interior, but I haven't had to clean it yet because it doesn't spatter like my old m/w. Three downsides: I can turn off the beeping for the buttons, but it retains the beep for when the food is done. Sometimes I'd like to turn that off. It has an open vent at the top which food from an overhead cupboard can easily spill into (a special Whirlpool feature, it seems). And, the stove-top light is positioned very far back, making it almost useless for the front burners. However, everything else makes up for its drawbacks.

What's great about it: It does everything it's supposed to
What's not so great: same as any other microwave..don't use the popcorn setting to pop popcorn
Whirlpool is a great industry name in the world of appliances (in this case). It has a very good reputation for lasting long and working well during that interim. There simply hasn't been enough time to say there's something wrong with it. We've only had it installed and running for a few weeks. If I'm going to say something frivolous about it in its' favor, I love the electric blue display and in the negative, I wish the 'add 30 sec' feature was 'add a minute', but ultimately neither of these things is important in regard to how well a product works or holds up over time. Thus far, it is performing per its' reputation...excellently.
I would recommend this to a friend!
