What's great about it: Best setup in the market for 2.1 music

Before I start the review: I'm not a true audiophile, but consider myself an amateur Audiophile!
My requirement was very decent 2.1 Stereo setup mainly for MUSIC
I have a bose lifestyle system for my home theater experience and though it suits my needs for 5.1 in my small Apartment, but when it comes to music, it does not meet even my basic standards.

Did a lot of research on NHTs, Paradigms, Energy, POLK and finally MartinLogans. I did audition POLK TS300/400s, Energy CF-50/70s and I was very disappointed. They sounded mediocre for music.
After reading some good reviews on MartinLogan Motion 4s (bookshelf) I went to audition them and found they were rich and crisp and suited my listening style. However as expected the low end and mid range bass was non-existent. The rep at Bestbuy connected the Sub (Def tech) and it sounded pretty good. I was beginning to think this might be the best setup for the $$$ i could spend. Spent close to an hour A/B listening to various sound tracks on my iphone connected to the receivers Pioneer vsx-50 and Marantz nr1602.
Finally just before deciding to buy, I connected the Motion 12s just to see how they sound and was immediately blown away. They produced rich, crisp, clear sound with excellent mid range, bass and even low end without a sub-woofer. That cliched the deal.
Just a few points to end the review:
They sound great with excellent bass & crisp treble even at low volumes. I use them in my 12 x 15 apt room with Pioneer elite VSX - 50 receiver and they kick az. I might invest in a cheap sub in future, but I doubt if I will need one.

Listening style is rock, pop, hiphop, reggae. I'm asian and listen to a lot of Hindi/local dialect music which is pure pleasure on these! I have a collection of over 10,000 mp3 songs!
This review is geared to music lovers who have tried to search for a good 2.1 music setup. However, I also connected the receiver to my netflix/tv and I'm discovering a whole new listening experience which my Bose system has never presented me before. So I'm sure movie lovers will find these just as a capable.

What's great about it: Size, sound and price.
What's not so great: May have muffled/too much bass if placed in the corners depending on your setup.
This was supposed to be a downgrade from my current primary speakers (Polk RT2000p) because the Polk's were too big for the space and the bass was too much for the neighbors, even at low volumes. So I needed something more aesthetic and less bass. To my surprise these had just as much bass at low volumes but a much richer sound and superb imaging. And they aren't even broke in yet so it will just get better.
These sounded pretty week in the Magnolia sound room and I had my doubts about buying them but took a chance and I'm glad I did.
Note: They are rated 8 ohms but I understand they are 4-6-8 whatever that means. So they require a high current amp (watts don't come into play really) and others have blown their amps running these so I hear. You should verify that you have a high current amp/receiver before picking these up. Awesome speakers for $399 each (current sale price).

I purchased a pair of ML 12's to replace some Advent towers, and I am very happy with the results. Can't wait to upgrade the center channel speaker to match.

What's great about it: Clarity. Good Bass without overpowering.
What's not so great: Midrange response without EQ or Center Channel.
I'm picky. I don't like most of these so called " towers" with small speakers, sloppy lows and tweeters that miss certain cymbal crashes, glass breaks, rattles, Saxaphones and trumpets. They're pricey , most are junk. The 4000-1600Hz response is incredible. You might find yourself dialing back the highs a bit, if your room is small. These are very directional. Aim them towards you and sit down in front of them. I put mine in the corners at 45 degree angles. Use a center channel for the mid-bass response if you want cracking snare-drums. If you have a good equalizer or a receiver with "listening" capability, you can make these towers come alive better than those costing double. The bass response stays true to the room, without overloading the rooms around you or your neighbor in the condo / townhouse next door. Below, might be a different story.
Definitely use a center channel with these, it makes a stand-out difference in imaging for home-theater. Outstanding speakers. Not-so-outstanding price, but MUCH better than the competition.

I have owned these speakers for almost 8 months now and I must say the are excellent. The sound, power, clarity are among the best. I am extremely happy and honestly can say I would buy them again. I bought them when the salesman asked me to listen to them at the store and I am thankful I did.

I picked up a pair of the motion 12 to use as my front speakers after hearing the Demo and reading all of the excellent reviews on these speakers. you would have to pay far more for the sound you get out of these very crisp sounds . these are great wth my HK AVR-3600 the motion 10 are also the best and you will not hear a better speaker for the price. fantastic entry level for Martin logans .. the theatre sound is incredible also the music is so clean and clear it sounds as if the artist is playing in front of you.
I would recommend this to a friend!
