What's great about it: NOTHING
What's not so great: EVERYTHING
I would stay away from this laptop. I had it for 8 months then the Hard Drive crashed and then 2months after they fixed it is crashed again.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

What's great about it: Built-in 4G is awesome. Like having a fast Wi-Fi connection everywhere. Textured exterior stays clean.
What's not so great: Not quite as thin as I would like. Web Cam and accompanying software could be better.
The built-in 4G wireless adapter is by far the best feature and the main reason that I purchased this laptop -- no external USB dongles, adapters, etc. I like having the liberty of going anywhere and connecting to the internet. The connection is fast too. The textured finish is very sharp. Fingerprints and smudges don't show up. Touchpad works very smoothly and includes multi-point gestures. The web cam is ok. The first one was defective and stopped working altogether, and I had to exchange the laptop days later. Best Buy handled that quickly and effectively. The Toshiba software for the web cam has no fancy effects as I've seen from other PC manufacturers. I wish it had built-in Bluetooth too. The 14" screen is the perfect size -- not too big, not too small. It is reasonably light, but the computer could be a little thinner. Despite some minor shortcomings, overall, this is an excellent laptop.
I would recommend this to a friend!

What's great about it: fast does not fingerprint lots of space
What's not so great: no modem and has ethernet 10/100 not 1000
know what you are getting as for the wimax i tried clear could not get signal in my bedroom had the modem for home and not enough signal for home phone so dont buy it just for that other than that it has been great not heavy and looks and does good the finish is very nice does not show smug the sound and playing music while multi tasking is great no interference much better buy than a netbook i have one of those also this is much better

The only difference between U505-S2005 and S2008 is that S2008 has WiMax capability, which s why Toshiba website listed S2008 for $929.99.
I was able to get about 4 hours of battery life after turning on the eco mode.
I would recommend this to a friend!
