What's great about it: Looks cool
What's not so great: Didnt work
I had it for one day and it stopped working. Didn't turn on any more. Just had a flashing blue light in the front. Had to call Dyson and send it back to England for a return. They were atleast helpful in getting it sent back for a replacement. But one day? Really?

What's great about it: Great design, like a peice of art
What's not so great: The price is way too high
Purchased the fan for my son who was fascinated by the design. Its a wonderful product but extremely expensive for basically a fancy fan.

Great fan but too pricey. I think cheaper fans will still do the job.

What's great about it: It is more quite than a fan with blades.
What's not so great: The price,
I thought the ideal of having a bladeless fan was interesting. I brought this fan about two weeks ago. I found this fan to have less noise than the fan I kept by my bed. It keeps our bedroom cool at night and make it much easier for me to sleep through the night without having many night sweats.

What's great about it: looks cool
What's not so great: noisey
My husband wanted a Dyson fan based on happy experience with vacum cleaner of same brand. This fan is noisey. No need to sugar coat it. The whole "no buffetting sound" is a useless marketing fluffy statement. For the price, go to your nearest store, turn on the $20-$50 fans and buy the quiet one.

What's great about it: Design
What's not so great: Everything else!!!
Going to the store and doing much research, I have come to the conclusion that this fan:
1) Is not worth the high price
2) plastic caseing is highly breakable for such a high price & small stand that will not stand up to tilting for a fall even on the floor!
3) NO remote, NO low, med and high levels, NO timer, no great features of $50.00 regular fans...
4) High pitched sound when in use is unheard of when paying so much for a fan, I have the same problem with my Dyson vacumn! I love the way it works but it gives me a headache. You pay a price you should not have to hear loud anything!!! :o(

What's great about it: safe for small children
What's not so great: function and price
I checked out the demo at best buy and found the air flow weak and the little fan inside lound and buzzy like a little leaf blower. not sure why it is priced so high, it has a cheap plastic feel. the fan doest even have adjustments for tilting it, i guess that would add another $100 to the price tag. the only good thing i see about it is that if you have little ones you dont have to worry about them getting there fingers cut bye blades. This fan is for the yuppie who cant wait to tell everyone how much they spent on a fan... yes, a fan.

What's great about it: Safer, Beautiful Design, Easy To Clean, Smooth Airflow
What's not so great: None
I used to like the regular fans that have the fast-spinning blades. But, I like this one by Dyson since it doesn't have blades. I even heard that it uses the air multiplier (15 times) technology by using some turbine inside its base. Since it draws in air at 5.28 gallons per second, according to the flyer, it blows out the air at 79.2 gallons per second (635 cubic feet per minute).
I even like how it produces a smooth, uninterrupted airflow, whereas the traditional fans produce choppy air.
Plus, unlike the traditional fans, you can just clean it without removing any parts.
It's also beautifully designed as well.
I will probably buy this item this Xmas since it's safer and beautifully designed!!!

What's great about it: A unique design resulting in bladeless airflow
What's not so great: Nothing, I like it.
I recommend this fan not only for it's sophisticated engineering, but for the creativity involved in bringing something different to the consumer. I've followed some of the complaints on this fan and don't find them to be plausible. Expense is justified by the engineering and design efforts that went into producing the 'air multiplier.' I can sense without seeing the mechanics that are inside this fan, that the parts, specifically the motor is of exquisitely higher quality than what goes into the average fan. The 'air tunnel' that pushes the air is designed to be 'iight' again by design, not by inferior or cheap material. It reminds me of the texture of the material that those little rubber band propelled airplanes were made of. The other complaint is that it's noisy. To some degree, I can see this complaint. Certainly, the noise interferes with the aesthetics. It would be much more intriguing to have the air pushed from a quiet portal. What I like about this fan beside the obvious is it's unique tilt and oscillation function. I like the color scheme blue/grey. Instead of 4 choices of speed (one for off), I have variable control via dimmer switch. Of course, no fan blades, so it's a very safe fan especially around small children and pets. Lastly, it makes a great conversational piece. It so novel, I even struck up a conversation about it from a customer in line with me as I was about to purchase the fan. She said she thought it was cool, but didn't know how it worked. I can see now, but didn't at the time, that it's a fusion of laborious design and the air being forced through an aperture less than 1mm wide around the circumference of the loop. But, it may seem like magic or reversed alien technology if you didn't know better.

What's great about it: looks neat
What's not so great: price, function, quality of construction
When compared side by side to a regular $30 dollar fan, I could not justify why I had just spent 10 times that amount ($300) on this product. It is not any quieter or provide more air flow then a normal fan, and I could not detect how this technology made the air flow "smoother" versus the "pulsing" of a traditional fan.
A bladeless fan is a cool concept, but along the lines of a $40-$50 concept, not $300.

While the fan function was ok, not great but ok, the noise it produced was incredible loud. I have a standard fan right next to it, with it on full speed and the dyson on low, the dyson was still much louder.
Also, little touches like when turning it on it using its previous settings, a remote control are no where to be found.
I can not recommend this to anyone.

What's great about it: safe around kids, dogs, birds, cats
What's not so great: over priced, not too quiet, unsteady, no remote or timer
Bought mine new about March 2010 online. Been using it about every day since. It claims to be a steadier stream of air, but I honestly don't see what advantage this offers compared to bladed fans. I have the white and gray unit. So the fan is inside the column base, the loop upper part snaps onto the base. It draws air in from the sides of the base then blows it out the loop in one direction. There are two buttons (power and swing) and one knob (fan speed). Since the fan uses a smaller motor than a larger bladed fan the fan is somewhat louder than a similarly performing bladed fan, I think due to the acoustics of a smaller motor spinning faster inside a plastic cylinder. Some maintenance needed to keep both the tiny air intake holes and the output area unblocked by accumulated dust or pet hair, with a bladed fan the dust and need to clean is obvious. Don't expect much of a difference between this and an ordinary fan, except maybe safety from the fan blade, but this might be more prone to tipping over and probably breaking the cheap plastic loop housing. Summary: looks better, safer for tiny fingers, possibly louder, possibly more prone to destructive damage if dropped, no apparent improvement in performance when compared to a conventional fan. For use in kids bedroom I think the increased safety is canceled out by an increased risk of destruction due to a small base making it easy to tip over and probably not to survive and fall to the floor.

What's great about it: Beautiful work of engineering and design
What's not so great: price, a bit noisy.
Its more like a sculpture that happens to be a fan. I love it and would get more when the price comes down, but it seems more suited for a family room than the bedroom. The motor that generates the breeze is a little noisy, sort of like a high pitched whine, and thats at low speed. Crank it up and it sounds like a small power tool is running. I use it in the family room where the TV and people talking drown out the noise. Plus why keep something so beautiful secluded to yourself in the bedroom. Show it off, yeh, the fan equals a PS3, but so does a toilet bowl and a handmade italian shoes. Value is placed where one appreciates it.
Other than that, as advertised, easy to clean, won't chop off fingers.
