What's great about it: Quiet
What's not so great: No air flow
I'm no rocket scientist but the advertising is misleading, "No Blades" should read "No Visible Blades". You can not make any wind or breeze without a blade like movement in air. The blades are hidden inside the bottom. This unit is quiet because it doesn't move any air like it should for that kind of price. I took mine back for a full refund.

Worth every cent. Was skeptical and worried about price. It helps me sleep so much better.
Easy to clean. I have a lung disease and was worried about all the dust from my old fans because they were too hard to clean. I want the heater but waiting for price to come down.

What's great about it: Design, easy to clean, stylish, rotation
What's not so great: Price, noisy the higher it goes, dimmer switch, no remote
Bought it for use in a bedroom. First off, we all know Dyson has some of the coolest design inventions on the planet; they take current ideas and vamp them up a notch. With that said I have to admit, I expected a bit more for the price. The fan itself seems to be quality made, I don't really have an issue with that but the dimmer switch which controls the force of air flow (LOW, MED, HIGH) is rather weak and feels like it can break off, I feel if anything on this fan that can go/break, it would be that dimmer switch. The force of the air itself is not bad, on low it's more then enough to move the air around, you don't really feel it unless you're close but the higher you go you can really feel it, the only down side is the higher you go the more noise you're gonna get, and it gets loud! It's easy to put together, real easy. The rotation of the fan is flawless, smooth as silk. The one real thing that gets me about this fan is that there is no remote control! How can you make such a fan and charge so much for it and not include a remote with it? Bottom line, if you got money to burn then this is the fan for you, it's really not any better then other fans out there, except for its looks of course; it's as I said before, it's a great novelty!

What's great about it: Nice design, Good to be placed around kids or pets.
What's not so great: Air blow is SOOO WEAK, the biggest flaw for a FAN!
i brought the dyson 12" fan hoping it will blow better then my conventional fan... i dont know whether i set it up the wrong way (which is not hard btw all u have to do is aline the arrows and hear that little *click*) or if there is more i have to do to get it working properly but this dyson fan truly sucks dont believe the hype because my old fan (which was 32$) blows better and makes the same amount of noise this little 12" table fan is doing... i dont know why its being portrayed as air blowing through the middle as well because the 12" dyson fan in which i brought is only blowing air from the outer ring there is no air being sucked from the back multiplying anything biggest waste of money ever spent on an item.. soooooo glad i kept the receipt
as someone said already its fun to look at and can save a pet or small child being injured, but if your buying a fan for quality purpose and actually want to feel the air save your money and go with bladed fans

What's great about it: appearance, set up, design, oscillation
What's not so great: no remote, noisy for some
This is my second Dyson product (I also own a vacuum, the Animal). True to form, the people at Dyson really do engineer smart products while integrating a bit of the wow factor design-wise. Aesthetics aside, the fan works as advertised and moves a great deal of air. Place it next to a central air vent, set it on oscillate, and it can quickly cool a room. If you have kids, pets, or simply dislike the generic appearance of a blade fan, then this product is a good solution.
Many people comment on how much noise Dyson fans make. I really didn't have much of an issue with it; after all, it's a table fan and most create some noise. I honestly think part of it is simply a function of what you're setting the fan on. If you're setting it on a carpeted floor or rug and have it pointed upward, it makes roughly the same amount of sound as your central air. If you set it on a flimsy particle board coffee table or something hollow, it will make as much noise as any other fan. As advertised, it does provide a more constant stream of air (no buffetting) and oscillates quite well.
If you typically spend more money for quality products, then you likely won't be disappointed with the Dyson fan. If you're expecting this to provide more wind than the BMW wind tunnel without any sound, then you might be disappointed.

What's great about it: Air Quality, Dimmer control, Wide-Angle Oscillation
What's not so great: No remote
I assumed I'd regret this purchase when I walked into Best Buy today.
I was wrong.
The instructions had literally two steps. The dimmer switch is clutch and a surprise to me when I turned it on. Other fans have those 3 speeds. This works just like that chandelier in your dining room.
I thought it might look tacky in comparison to the stainless steel fan it replaced - the one that broke 2 nights ago after I cleaned its blades. The Dyson looks pretty good, though...for a fan.
I spent $60 on the last fan which had 3 arbitrary speeds, sounded like an old dryer, collected dust like we lived in a bomb-shelter and broke after only than a year.
Mind you, I've only owned this thing for 2 hours. My opinion may change tomorrow. For now, all preliminary signs say otherwise.
At the end of the day, this was an investment in my own comfort. I bought it for the same reasons I buy from Apple and Bose. They are by no means the cheapest brands. But they're not the priciest either. The difference is they consistently bring the most value per dollar.
Just needs a remote.

$300 is a lot of money for a fan, no question about it.
But this unit has plenty of power, is easy to clean, and is practically silent at everything but the highest setting. The "tilt" function blows cool air at your face even when the fan is on the floor; and I'll never have to worry about children getting their fingers stuck in a fan grate (or worse, having their fingers caught by blades) again.

What's great about it: The fan has no blades!!! Great around kids and pets. Cools the room in no time.
What's not so great: Very pricey, Why pay 300.00+ for a fan when you can get an 10.00 fan to do the same thing?
Very impressed with the technology. Where does the air come from? Although it was an extravagant purchase the safety feature of not having blades whirling at unknown speeds was a determining factor in the purchase. Dyson makes a great product and I will not hesitate to purchase another one when the need arises.

What's great about it: Eye catching and works too
What's not so great: High-pitch whine at high volume on the 12" model
Being a modern art connoisseur, I couldn't pass up purchasing this work of art. I bought both the 10" and 12" models just to compare their performace. I actually preferred the 10" model. The 12" inch model pushes more air but is much noisier and has an aggrivating high-pitch whine at high speed. The 10" model, although it didn't push as much air, was much quieter and pleasing to the ear. No whine at all.
Personnaly, I believe the look of the smaller model is more balanced between the size of the base and the ring on top, but that's just the art buff in me talking.
Would I buy this fan if all I wanted was a cool soft breeze? Heck no.
Would I buy this fan because it makes a statement and would add to the decor in my modern condo? YUP...I DID!
Did I balk at the price? Initially, but when I think about how much I've spent on other artwork that just sits there and does absolutely nothing, this was a steel.

What's great about it: Powerful air distribution, exquisite design, easy to use controls, easy to clean
What's not so great: Price, power dimmer control
You can't argue that this fan is not a technological marvel. In fact, Dyson prefers you not even call it a fan but an 'Air Multiplier'. Whatever, it's a fan. But despite its lofty design, it invites exploration and conversation. You can't stop fiddling with it. Try to figure out exactly where the air is originating from on the circular blade. It seems to come from nowhere on the surface.
It is a totally fascinating piece of technology and it works. Even on low, the fan outputs an exceptional amount of air. Using the variable speed dial, you can crank the output way up. There is a slight motor sound that is not inherent in a conventional fan - sounding slightly like a small turbine. It's more noticeable at higher speeds. It also has an ingenious tilt mechanism and oscillation that makes it a moving sculpture.
Even with all of this great design AND functionality, it's hard to digest such a hefty price for what is, after all, just a fan. If you've got money to burn and love great design and engineering, then this fan is for you. But even a design junky like myself finds that there are countless other fans which look great and function just as well for 1/3 of the price.
