What's not so great: Outdated software
I bought this product based upon a review of its features on the Avid/Pinnacle website. That product came with Studio 15 software. The Best Buy version (at the same price) came with Studio 14 software. Neither Best Buy nor Pinnacle could provide me with a no-cost software upgrade, so I returned the product. Otherwise, it would cost me an additional $50 to upgrade to the version that should have been included in the package.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

What's great about it: Hardware for video capturing (firewire to USB)
What's not so great: Nothing yet...
I never write reviews but wanted to share this. Was looking all over the internet to find a device to transfer my video from a Sony DV Camcorder with a firewire output to my laptop without a firewire port or expresscard slot. Most so-called experts said there was no adapter hardware for this or that it was way too expensive. I took a chance on this deal at Best Buy on clearance for $99 and it works like a charm, even controls the camera as if I were directly connected to a firewire port. Openned the box and was transferring video off my camera within 30 minutes. The video editiing software that came with it is great too. I don't have the specs on my laptop but bought it last year, mid-level, as a closeout special and running Windows 7.
I would recommend this to a friend!

What's great about it: everything
What's not so great: doesnt work with XP, no motion tracking
this product is amazing. i love it. i use it daily, for xbox, my camera, the editing software, green screen (croma key) ect. it has AMAZING graphics, it does NOT work with Windows XP though. i have 2 computers and it only worked on vista. i have examples at my youtube channel. www.youtube.com/dragonslayx7 also, for way ,more experienced users, it does not have motion tracking to my knowledge. great product, i love it. i think the next best thing from pinnacle is Sony Vegas Pro. but it doesnt have a capture card, and it is for way more experienced editors. plus it is VERY expensive

What's not so great: everything else
The system requirements on the box are totally wrong. The only way I could get this to work was to go out and buy a new computer with quad core processers and 4 gigs of memory, after that it worked ok but still crashes in the middle of a project, I only use it to capture the video and then edit in a mac. Worth about $40.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Unfortunately, I`m not satisfeied about Pinnacle Studio MovieBox Ultimate Collection USB 2.0 Video Capture Hardware
because I`ve purchased the model that has many differente output interfaces but got the one that has only one output (USB). I`ve only realized that fact when I`ve already descarted the package of the product.

What's great about it: Good consumer level video, software will do what most consumers will want
What's not so great: Would like a heavier constructed breakout box. (Metal instead of plastic)
Needed a quick and easy way to import SVHS and digital media into a workstation for editing and DVD creation. The interface is decent quality, installation was a breeze, instructions are basic but understandable for anyone with average or advanced computer knowledge (advanced recommended).
No issues installing and running on an Asus P6TD-Deluxe board with an I7-930, 1333 Intel processor (2.8 gig speed), running 8 gig of RAM with Win 7 64 bit. You need a newer fast machine to get the full benefits. Single or dual core processor and slower buss and memory speeds probably won't do the highest quality capture without dropped frames. Wouldn't recommend trying to use other software in conjunction as it hasn't been designed to be friendly with other programs IME. Has more than enough features to do consumer level capturing/video creation and seems very flexable. There is a learning curve and some patience is required as it is pretty powerful and full featured for a consumer level program. No issues so far after a month of extensive use. Worth the money as it was on sale when I purchased it.
I would recommend this to a friend!

What's not so great: lock up all the time
Would not work on p4 3.4 with win7 32bit 2gb ram. Would not work on a d922 intel 2.8, 4gb win 7 32bit or 64 bit. Would work on a intel ed 955 3.2 with 4gb 64bit win 7. but drop a lot of frames. Support is little to none. Try running on ed 955 wth vista 32 still didnt work .
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
