What's great about it: Compact design
What's not so great: BIG sound
I purchased this to go in the "front room" where the tread mill and recumbent bike are. The sound that comes from this compact system is plenty BIG to give a simulated surround effect in this room. I am a Sony customer anyway, so it was a no brainer to buy Sony.

What's great about it: Nice bass from subwoofer
What's not so great: Nothing
I use this on a Sony smart TV and it works as expected. It's much easier than setting up an actual surround sound system and sounds pretty good. It's setup in a small home office and fills the room with superb sound.

What's great about it: Very easy to setup, no wire across the room, excellent price
Very easy to setup...I was looking for a small sound bar with bass for my 42" Insignia from Best Buy...after reading and evaluating a lot of reviews online I decided that wanted the Sony HT-CT150...price wise Best Buy had the best price online plus they had it available in the store in my neighborhood...I bought a couple high quality HDMI cables and a high quality optical audio (the one that comes with the equipment is good quality but not shielded)...Setting it up was really easy (about 10 mins)...I keep the optical audio for watching tv and HDMI for my PS3 and computer...it takes a couple of days for the speakers to break in to the actual sound (or in my case a couple of hours of playing MW3)...I recommend that you adjust the centre, treble, and sub to your needs and depending on the space in the room...it is not a true 5.1 sorround (it is simulated) but it sound very good...I use it in a studio apartment and after testing playing MW3 and Transformers 2, I was able to hear the sounds around me...It is a great buy for the money with really good sound and HDMI connection capabilities...

What's great about it: Sound Quality Blows Me Away
What's not so great: not much
After purchasing my 1st LED Flatscreen, I wanted to complete my home theater system with some quality sound as mine was very tinny. After reading the reviews of the SONY soundbar with subwoofer, I knew this was the one for me as I have always been a strong believer in the quality of SONY.
It was extremely easy to hook up and run all my other components thru the subwoofer as the subwoofer also acts as an amp.
The only downside for me was that there are no onscreen controls, rather they are on the top of the subwoofer in an LED readout. No major issue, but you must be in clear view of the subwoofer in order for the remote to work properly. Other than that, I find this product a great value for the dollar and would reccomend to anyone.
This product has... Easy to use controls, Good connection options, Great DVD upconversion

What's great about it: Sound quality- bass, Sony's preset EQ options, easy set up
What's not so great: Large sub might be too large for a small area; remote does not controll other devices if they are not Sony's
Let me address the note above on the size of the sub first: Please realize that the sub is actually the reciever unit too. Because of this, the size is larger than other sound bar units out there. However, the ease of set up (one cable to the TV) is nice. Make sure you have enough HDMI cables to connect all your devices.
Once connected, the sound is amazing- Sony's preset EQ options are great.
One tip: The Sony remote does not work with other devices. Invest in the Harmony 300 remote to control all your components including ALL functionality of the Sony.

What's great about it: Sound is much better in the front.
What's not so great: Not very loud but you get what you pay for.
So I bought this product 2 months ago and there have been no big issues. I like having sound that way better than the original speakers on the tv. I have a Sony Bravia 46" tv and it works well with it. I love that you can connect up to 3 hdmi cables in the back and have one main cable go into the tv. It frees up a lot of hdmi connections in the back for more electronics. Out the box setup was very easy and adjusting the sound seemed to simple. The sound out the sound bar is good but the subwoofer seems to be to low. I was expecting higher sub sound but it works so that's why I bought it. The controller works great if you have all Sony products but now I'm stuck with 3 controllers and that's just to many. So if you are looking for a simple sound system without spending money on a real theater system this is for you.

What's great about it: Sound Quality
What's not so great: Menu is very small fonted
I hooked up my bluray player, TV, Wii, Dish Network box and laptop into 1 amp. Now, not only I can control this using 1 remote but also sound is much more crispy and clear. It gives a lot of Bass to the original base sound. If you play music using any music channel songs play so real.
Also it enhances beauty of my entertainment center. Only thing which bothers me is it has no child lock and menu on the amp is hard to view from a distance

What's great about it: good price, great value
What's not so great: not very much bass for size of unit
Pretty good sound. I live in a 1BR apartment and wanted better sound than my TV could give me, but a full 5.1 surround sound system would be a little too much in my small living room. The bass leaves more to be disired, but all in all a solid 4/5. For the price you cannot beat it.

What's great about it: Price, sound quality
What's not so great: No complaints
I couldn't be happier. I think the sound quality is great, just what I expect from Sony. Solid construction, doesn't feel cheap. The sound quality is rich and full. Mine's connected to an XBOX 360, PS3, FIOS, Apple TV and a Sony HD tuner and this really brings out the best in sound quality without filling the room with speakers and amps.
Great buy!

It does not 1 thing amazingly well, buy it sounds really good and has a "night mode" which is awesone for apartment living. The only thing i wish was different, you have to turn in on to change imputs if youd rather use tv speakers. Ya gotta turn it on, change imput, than turn it back off. Othere than that its awesome and blows away my older phillips 1000w 5.1

What's great about it: AVR style hookup
What's not so great: Volume too low
Loved the design and the price. It was listed on sale for 249 but when I actually purchased it on the web site it totaled only 214 .. Great !
My TV speakers were louder than this system. I took it back
after a lot of trial and error to get more volume. If the volume problem gets addressed this is a 5 star item

What's great about it: Easy set up, plenty of power
I bought this soundbar online and although Best Buy listed it as being available in store, it wasn't and i had to make arrangements to get it shipped. However, once I had it in hand, it was very easy to set up and get started. It has great sound with a enough adjustments to tune it to how you like. The active sub has an easy menu from which to make adjustments and the dummy settings for movie, news, sports, etc. are actually very appropriate settings for whichever media you are viewing. This is also a very smart unit as it can communicate through your HDMI to your TV, DVD, etc. to configure itself. For instance, my regular Samsung TV remote automatically adjusted the volume on the soundbar without any programming. I think since this is a sony unit, there might be better "learning" from other sony products, though. There are still a few glitches that I am learning how to control, such as trying to get the soundbar to recognize the input instead of me having to change it everytime i turn on the power. One other drawback is that this is only 3.1 channel, so you don't get true surround, but for what it is, it really does a great job and i can rattle the neighbors if i want.

What's great about it: Quality brand and price
What's not so great: The center speaker is just a pinch big for where I want it to go.
This went on sale but was instantly sold out everywhere in the stores so I found it online and got it sent to me. Great sound for my flat screen in my bedroom. Makes a huge difference, you would not expect. I love that I can turn it on/off when I am not in the mood for super sound like when I am just watching the news.

This soundbar delivers great sound as long as your expectations are in line. It will not produce surround sound as a 5.1 or 7.1 system with side and rear speakers. It does however create more like a sound field that fills the room much better and louder than TV speakers can produce.
One of the top things about this unit are the number of inputs. It has 3 HDMI inputs along with 2 optical inputs, 1 digital coax input, and 2 analog inputs. I couldn't find any other sound bar with that flexibility. That is a lot of options for a soundbar and is perfect for my setup which mght be fairly typical for number of HDMI's with a cable box, Blu Ray player, and gaming system.
There are multiple ways to set everything up, but the easiest way is to run all the HDMI's to the sub, then run an HDMI to the TV via the ARC/TV Out. Most TVs will have an input labeled ARC. Basically sound and picture are transferred between the TV and the Unit via one cable. I have a Samsung TV and none of the inputs are labeled ARC. However, during my research of soundbars I discovered that the HDMI 2 input on a Samsung is the ARC. I have the soundbar hooked up via the ARC into HDMI 2 and it works fine.
Another byproduct of the ARC is that because I have a Samsung TV and a Samsung Blu Ray Player, the TV recognizes the Blu Ray player as an Anynet device and will automatically power on the Blu Ray player when the input switches to Blu Ray even though the soundbar controlling it is a Sony. A quirky thing is that when you power off the TV with the TV remote, it will also turn off the soundbar. However, if you turn on the TV with the TV remote, it doesn't turn on the soundbar. Nothing major, just a strange thing. But you can control the soundbar volume with the TV remote.
In addition to all the flexibility with the inputs, the unit itself has many options to tweak the sound. I discovered that the setting that works for the Blu Ray, doesn't necessarily sound that great for the Xbox 360. Another plus though is that you can tweak the settings for each input and it saves those settings specifically for each one. So you don't have to constantly change the settings when you change the input.
The sound itself is great especially after you get the settings to your preference. The people that say the sound is worse than the TV speakers, they must have the greatest set of TV speakers ever invented. The sound can go loud, the bass can go deep. Out of the box with minimal tweaking it sounds good. Watching a basketball game, the bouncing of the ball made the sub hit.
The only slight negative I can see with it is when you switch inputs, it is a little slow. But really is it that important to switch between your TV and your Blu Ray in 2 seconds instead of 5 seconds?
So if you are looking for something that is going to create surround sound on the cheap, that's not going to happen. If you want something that will be a major upgrade for your TV speakers to create rich sound and "envelope" you, you can't go wrong with this unit.

What's great about it: Great sound upgrade for the price.
I was a little worried about buying this soundbar because of the reviews on here. I read a great review on a consumer reporting site and it was within my price range, so I figured I could always return it. Well, I hooked it up and am very happy with the sound. I have a Samsung flat screen TV that had horrible sound. The difference is night and day. It isn't the sound quality of a product like Bose, but what do you expect for around $200?
