What's great about it: Ease of use, handy new features, Office Web Apps
What's not so great: More on the expensive side, mediocre performance when heavily working
I've been using the beta for months now and soon it will be my pleasure of owning the final release of Microsoft Office 2010. Office applications were always Microsoft's strength and they still show no sign of weakness in their latest edition. It's, as always, a great improvement over the last version, which in this case would be Microsoft Office 2007. I'm glad they finally included the "ribbon" interface in all of the programs.
Those of you who aren't a fan of the ribbon (the big bar at the top with all the controls as opposed to drop down menus) should really use it a little more and I think you'll find it saves time and really helps you just get things done because everything is there that you need.
Office 2010 brings a slew of new features like Office Web Apps, new transitions and video/photo editing tools in PowerPoint, and mostly a lot of ease-of-access features. You can tell this iteration of Office aims to make complicated tasks simpler and external tasks integrated into the Office experience.
The only problem I have is performance is still, after all these years is a bit slow when importing a lot of photos at once or especially copying and pasting something into a document. That, and the pricing isn't that great either, but compared to Adobe's CS5 suites for over $1000, it's certainly not completely terrible.
Overall, Microsoft Office 2010 has proven itself to be sleek, simple, easy to use, and productive. It's easy for any age group -- students or professionals once you can quickly get the hang of it.

I recently had a computer meltdown and along with a new computer I had to purchase Office 2010 to replace the older Office software I had been using. Firstly I was more than a little dismayed to find that now in order to get Publisher, the one program besides Word that I use the most often, I was forced to spend a couple of hundred dollars extra to buy the Professional edition. Then I discover that many of the artistic choices available in the older version in terms of graphics had been eliminated, and many of the new choices just aren't as creative. So now I find that I am going into old documents and doing a lot of text editing, copying and pasting if I want to re-use a format or color scheme I particularly liked. So I had to buy software with programs I didn't want or don't use in order to get the one program I really needed, only to find that I can no longer do some of the things I want to do. That's what I call a rip-off.

I hate to sound like a Microsoft cheerleader, but with Office 2010 Pro you pay a lot and you get a lot. In our business we charge a fair price for our products and Microsoft has a right to do the same.
I specifically bought the Pro version of Office to get Access and Publisher. I had been fighting Word 2007 for several weeks trying to make a tri-fold brochure to display our 200+ color paint samples. I love Word and have used it since the early 1990s, but it was the wrong tool for this job. I bought Office 2010 Pro and within 2 days I had a finished brochure. Publisher's Catalog Merge feature saved the day! And I had never used MS Publisher before!
The last version of Access I owned was Access 2000 and it also wasn't up to the task ahead of me. I guess 10 years makes a lot of difference in the software development world because Access 2010 is doing exactly what I need it to do.
We're also heavy Excel, Outlook, and Word users and their 2010 versions are worth the money also. Only one disappointment; I had expected Outlook 2010 to finally offer shareable calendars within an intranet, but unfortunately, that is not the case.
We don't use PowerPoint or OneNote so I can't speak to their usefulness.
One last thing. Our home-based business lies 20 miles out of town from the nearest Best Buy which is in Quincy, IL. Best Buy's in-store pickup allowed me to pay for the product online early one morning and I had a friend who lives in Quincy pick it up on their way out here for a different reason. That alone saved me a trip to town and at least a half day's productivity.
All-in-all, this was a great transaction with my money well spent. And that's not always the case in the small business world.

What's great about it: Excel and Outlook are great in 2010
What's not so great: PRICE, PRICE, PRICE
Micosoft kind of has us where they want us and you are forced to buy their stuff at any price they set. That being said the software does work well and the Best Buy team was great to deal with. In fact Best Buy tried to save me a little money and gave me some tips to try to ease the cost of buying three Microsoft Office professional 2010 software packs at the same time. If you do have a much older "office" then 2010 the Excel program and Outlook program have some great new features but it does take a bit to get used to.

What's great about it: features, programs, new
What's not so great: expensive, same features as 2007, setup was hard
I bought this because it can be used on OVER 3 pcs, so I can install it on all 7 of my household computers. I found Home and Student version to work the same, but without Outlook, Access, but I really needed Publisher. The only thing that looks different is the interface.
I kept getting a MSXML error even though I have MSXML installed, so I was able to find a working method (better than Microsoft's) here:
http://www.youtube.com/computerwhiz21
hope I can help people with the same issue. Other than that it's pretty good and my kids make a mean essay!

What's great about it: It is a very current program.
I've been converting my computer system to 64 bit. 64 bit systems are able to use larger amounts of RAM and they work better. My Outlook® program had been working poorly with the 64 bit system so I thought I would try Office® 2010. It works very well. You know they have to work on security patches all the time. They even had to plug one that came through the Help Section.

What's great about it: Feature-packed, fast, easy-to-use
What's not so great: Normal retail price is steep
I am a huge fan of Office 2007 and have used it for nearly two years now. I was able to pick up Office 2010 Professional for a great price and decided to replace my beloved 2007 on my desktop and notebook PC. Well, it's been up and running for a while now and here's why I am glad I upgraded:
The layout. All the programs use the ribbon system that 07 brought in, and it really opens up the options of what you can do with your projects. The Office button from 07 is no more, replaced by a completely revamped File button for your options. It's a fantastic design, showing you all possible information about the file, as well as a nice visual for creating new projects. Same with the print function, giving you all of the options for your page and printer on the fly.
The speed/connectivity. All the programs load much faster then they have in the past, and the 2010 suite is much more integrated with Microsoft's Office Live feature. Give that a try, it's really nice to work on files, upload it to Office Live, let others work on the project, then go back and see their revisions, on any computer with a web browser.
Yes, it is expensive. Take the programs separately and I believe another reviewer said that it saves you over $400 buying 2010 Pro.
Microsoft changed up the licensing a bit, and Home and Business and Professional can be installed on two PCs for one user. For example, you take a notebook to and from work, then have a desktop you use at home. This is fantastic as I have both a notebook and desktop that I use regularly.
Microsoft rolled out another quality product with Office 2010.

What's great about it: Office 2010 is very easy.
What's not so great: Product Key Card have no disc.
I tested trial of this product from Microsoft’s webpage last month, it very easy better than old Office 2007. I read Awhinden’s review that Awhinden said price is too high but I am not agree with Awhinden!! Price is not too high because I counted Access 2010 $139.99, Excel 2010 $139.99, OneNote 2010 $79.99, Outlook 2010 $139.99, PowerPoint 2010 $139.99, Publisher 2010 $139.99 and Word 2010 $139.99 then all total $919.93 so Office Professional 2010 cheaper $499.99 so save money $419.94! Microsoft discontinued upgrade version of all Office 2010 products. I don’t like OpenOffice 3.2 because new OpenOffice 3.2 look like old Microsoft Office 97. I like Microsoft Office Professional 2010 better.

What's great about it: Ease of use. New Features
What's not so great: Price is too high. DOESN'T EVEN ACKNOWLEDGE THE EXISTENCE OF WINDOWS MAIL FILES OR SETTINGS.
This is the best version of Microsoft Office yet.
However, if you are upgrading from Windows Vista to Windows 7, (Microsoft FINALLY got Windows right, except for no built-in email client) Outlook 2010 DOESN'T EVEN ACKNOWLEDGE THE EXISTENCE OF WINDOWS MAIL FILES OR SETTINGS & WindowsLive Mail does a Very Poor job of importing them.
If you want to use Outlook, you will HAVE TO GET Outlook 2007, (which imports Windows Mail fine) BEFORE YOU INSTALL Outlook 2010, so you can convert Windows Mail to Outlook.
With all of the extra work involved, I decided to use Thunderbird instead, with a free e-mail import add on, since the Thunderbird filing system is much speedier than the bloated Outlook .PST file if you have lots of e-mail saved. However, you should save your accounts & settings in notepad to copy & paste later, and you will have to redo e-mail filters.
