What's great about it: Good in low light, HD, good color, versatile mount/base.
What's not so great: Needs a decent processor in your computer.
I like this camera. I had the prior one which was a little bigger and I liked that, too. The detail and brightness is good, you get cool/fun tools you can use to be silly with it (mustaches and sunglasses and all that) and you can also tweak it. Focus works pretty well, though it can pump sometimes, which is weird. The better your computer, the faster and better that works. The mic is, well, meh, about like what is on your laptop. It's a utility mic. Don't play a musical instrument into it, okay?
The interesting base lets you set this up in a number of ways since you can shape it to sit on things, wedge into them or grab them: handy!
Works through your browsers, through your IMs and to record yourself playing Chopin or NIN on the piano for your YouTube debut. I will say this inexpensive camera is definitely good enough to do video blogazine posting!
It won't work properly (very choppy) on my Netbook, but on my dualcore or quadcore PCs it works well. It's a very good option in this price range.
DO bear in mind that the HD vertical rez is 720 lines, not 1080, but that's good enough to do How To blogging or to look very good at the company video conference.
You won't be disappointed.

What's great about it: Fantastic Image Quality, Simple Installation, Swivel Head
What's not so great: Another cord attached to a laptop, Not Mac compatible, Limited to laptop use, Focus can be finicky
I have to admit that I have little patience for adding things onto my laptop/netbook, the whole idea is portability and when I have to start filling my laptop bag with power cords, keyboards and mice I begin to question why I even bother and take my iPad instead so the idea of adding a clip-on webcam and its cord to the mix seemed like one too many add-ons for my liking. Though with more and more people choosing a laptop in place of a traditional desktop computer maybe portability is less an issue and these add-ons aren’t so bothersome so from that perspective maybe the HD-6000 really is a great little camera.
The camera is clearly limited to use with a laptop or a very thin monitor as the self clamping mechanism will only open so wide. Since there are no screws or dials to hold it in place it’s very easy to position anywhere on your laptop screen. This small little camera offers something sorely lacking in any built in webcam, the ability to swivel and move. This feature is really appreciated, I can see it would be a real bonus if you are trying to show a viewer something that’s out of view and you don’t want to have to pick up and move the whole laptop. Once you turn the camera is on its very unobtrusive, just a small blue light indicating that it’s live and ready to impress.
The real test of any camera is the images that it produces and from this perspective this little Microsoft camera is a star. I decided to compare this to the built in camera on my HP laptop as well as my iMac’s camera and what I found was that the HD-6000 did a much better job of rendering more realistic skin tones, the images were far more pleasing and had less “noise”. I tested it in general overhead light but also in low light (just a pair of table lamps) and here is where the difference became even more apparent, where the other cameras tended to have too much contrast this camera adjusted to the light better and maintained a more natural image, a noticeable improvement over its competition. The one area that it does seem to struggle with is focusing; it seemed to be the most susceptible to movement which causes the camera to go out of focus before refocusing, this is somewhat annoying compared to the HP or the Apple as I found myself trying to sit more still in order to avoid the focusing issue.
To be fair, this camera had three strikes against it before I even began, the first is the lack of Mac support; the second being that its design limits it to laptop use and the third has less to do with it and more of a personal preference in that I’m just not that much of a webcam user and yet it still impressed me. If you are a willing to have another cord snaking out of your Windows based laptop and you are a webcam kind of person this really is a visible improvement and may be worth it to you. If you are a Macbook user you’re going to be left shaking your head and wondering why peripheral companies are not being more Mac inclusive while if you’re a casual webcam user or a really use your laptop on the go then you might like the HD-6000 but you probably will pass on it which is a shame.
Is the HD-6000 a great camera? Yes; but is it something that you’re going to feel like you have to have? Probably not though it does make you wish that every built-in webcam was this good.
In the end its a great camera but as far as recommendations go its a solid maybe.

What's great about it: Great image quality, nice design, can shoot 720p HD video
What's not so great: Overly sensitive auto-focus
With the proliferation of built-in cameras in most laptops, you may wonder why the heck anyone would by an add-on camera. Until you use the built-in camera for taking pictures or video chat that is. Most laptop cameras are terrible, especially in low light situations.
Enter the Microsoft Lifecam HD 6000. Please note that this Microsoft camera is specifically designed for the laptop user. It's not intended to be a desktop camera and it doesn't mount to a computer monitor (unless you have a thin LED monitor). That said, the Lifecam HD is a wonderful little camera. The light-sensor is massively improved as is the image quality over 99% of integrated laptop camera's . However, it's not perfect and there is one flaw that may be a deal-breaker- the super-sensitive auto-focus. Small movements will cause the camera to constantly adjust and refocus. At times, it will start trying to focus even when it was already focused.
Pros:
-Excellent video image quality and light sensor
-Excellent design, clips onto laptop screens easily. Will rotate almost a full 360 degrees and tilt up-and-down a few degrees.
-Includes a small pouch to protect the camera
-Built in microphone is much better than the built-in laptop mic's.
-Nice blue LED light when the camera is in use
Cons:
-Very jumpy (and super annoying) auto-focus.
-No Mac support
Overall it's an excellent camera and even with the annoying auto-focus issue I still recommend it.

My wife and I bought this camera for her 95 year old grandpa in Maryland so he and his 92 year old brother in Cincinnati, Ohio could see each other. They thought it was the coolest thing ever. They hadn't seen each other in 10 years.

What's great about it: HD, Small, Easy to set up
What's not so great: Laptop only, Focusing is terrible
Pros: HD, Small, Extremely easy to install
Cons: Auto-focusing is extremely buggy, Re-focuses when already focused correctly
Another bad thing about this webcam is it is LAPTOP ONLY. It does not fit on either of my three monitors (I tri-screen my desktop). The title needs to emphasize this.
Drivers on disc are Windows only, however, works PnP with my MacBook Pro
