What's great about it: Great picture...for only 3 years
What's not so great: Only lasted 3 years
The lamp went out after 35 months. Replaced the lamp using Mitsubishi parts and after 2 weeks of the new lamp a white dot appeared on the screen. Two days after that another white dot appeared on the screen. After a week our TV looks like it has measles. If you read the reviews of this TV you too will see this is a common issue with Mitsubishi DLP TV's. Photo attached.

What's great about it: beautiful picture
What's not so great: had to replace after 2 yrs.
broke, will turn it's self off a few seconds after coming on. I loved this tv but out of warranty and will be $800 to fix. from what I read on net this is a very common problem which is then followed by pixilation and other prolems. loved the size and pticture but too much money to spend for 2 yrs of use. check Internet you will find lots and lots of complaints about reliability.

What's great about it: Price
What's not so great: Reliability
Bought this TV and was stunned at the picture quality and price. had to replace the bulb after two years, but they covered that under warrenty. Now I have the white spots showing up all over the screen, and the repair is more than a new TV. I don't expect a TV to last forever - but 3 years???? Buy something that will last a while and skip this TV. The company should be ashamed for not standing behind a product with a known defect

What's not so great: Reviews by others who blanket entire DLP products
Got mine at Circuit City 2 years before they closed up... Replaced bulb ($68.00) last year... Kinda peeved with the reviewer who wrote reviews for all Mitsubishi DLP's stating white spots & stuff? That reviewer was not being fair! No white spots for us!

What's not so great: Shot life spand.
I have a 1080 DLP made by Mitsubishi and it's lasted me about 3-4 years. The bulb went out and I replaced it fairly easy. Once the new bulb was replaced I noticed the white spots. Mitsubishi knows about their problems and will not do anything about it. If you want a TV unit that will not last more than 4 years than this is your BEST buy. Do not buy this unit there's better choices out there.

What's great about it: Great size and presentation
What's not so great: Low features for a big TV
We had an upgraded version of this TV (same size 65") that deleveloped the white spots under warranty. Best Buy couldnt get it fixed timely, so they offered us this one. It's an "older" TV and has less features. There is nothing wrong with this TV except that we are comparing it to to the nicer one we had before with the front hook ups and the Audio out features, etc.
there is one thing that is annoying about this TV and that is it always feels the need to tell you what is going on with the signal. For instance, when changing from HD to non-HD channels there is a pause and it displays "Invalid Format". Also, simply changing inputs it tells you virst that there is no signal, then a second or so later it tells you there is a signal and all is ok.
All and all, hard to COMPLAIN much about it, but it does suffer from comparison to it's more feature rich models.

Its a 65" 3d tv!!!!!! For the money its a good buy you get alot of tv for little money. But there are downfalls you dont want it if your viewing room has windows to cause glare. The glare is bad on this tv. When you buy a tv dont worry so much about reliability and what people say about this. If you are buying a tv always purchase the warrenty that is rule number 1. overall if you want a big 3d tv at a good price this tv is for you.

What's great about it: unbeatable value, amazing HD picture
What's not so great: none
This TV is for a home theater set up. Who cares about the sound quality of the TV speakers. With an HD signal from direct tv or a blue ray player this TV is amazing. I have owned a 50" samsung DLP prior to buying this 65" and I have never had a problem with either TV. Pair this TV with a high quality sound set up and you can create an amazing home theater for a reasonable amount of money.

What's great about it: Everything for 3 years
What's not so great: Life....will go out in 3 years
All of Mitsubishis DLP TV's have a flaw. In 3 years they will go out. Your bulb will go out (normal thing) and about 6 months after you change it you will have white spots all over your screen. Mitsubishi knows this will not do anything to help you. It cost around $900 to fix it. Don’t believe me? Google White spots on Mitsubishi TV and see how many irate customers you see. It’s pathetic. This much for a TV and 3 years is all you get. Don’t Buy!!!!!!

What's great about it: Price,Size and amazing 3D
What's not so great: Sound, No internet streaming
Its a great tv i dont understand the people complaining where else u can get a Tv this size for that price and the 3D is xtra icing on the cake. The sound is not perfect but now we all have Home Teathers so who cares about that. Blurays look amazing and the 3d is better than the movie teathers. About the lifetime of the Tv if u didnt research the lifetime of DLP and Plasmas is shorter than LCD and LED thats why they are cheaper the advantage with DLP is that u can change the Lightbulb and ur tv will be working like new. It could have more features like internet conectivity but if you have a PS3 or a good Bluray conected you can get all your online streaming needs from those.

What's great about it: Picture
What's not so great: SOUND
Overall this is my second Mitsubishi 65" DLP, one in my daughters room and one in the TV room. I am very happy with the picture quality, and the ability to view 3D programs and shows on it. And for the $849.00 price it is an excellent buy. Now lets get to a serious deficiency with the TV. The sound quality is the worst I have ever heard. Some shows require it to be turned all the way up and still it is hard to hear. If sound matters please pay attention to my review.

What's great about it: The Picture...all 65 inches of it!
What's not so great: Short lifespan.
This was an awesome TV for the first three years. The first bulb (replacement bulbs are $400.00) lasted three years but the second bulb lasted only 7 months. I purchased the extended waranty so all the bulbs have been replaced for free but last week the screen has started to show white dots. The dots are growing at 7 to 10 a day. My waranty is replacing the TV as I write this. If you buy this TV, be sure to buy the best extended waranty available and you will love your second NEW TV as much as your first one! (...and then...buy the new extended waranty!!)

What's great about it: good price
What's not so great: Does not work due to invalid format messages
This tv never worked correctly from day one. Getting an invalid format message and no signal every time I turn it on or switch devices. Mitzu customer service will not admit it is their problem, guessing a handshake thing. Many people have commented on the internet that they are having the same issue. Best Buy was absolutely great and came and picked it up so I could exchange it for a LED from a different company. Best Buy rocks!!!

What's great about it: Price, Size
What's not so great: Remote codes, cost of 3d kit
I wanted this model and bought it, but you may want to consider other models depending on your needs.
This model (638 series) and it's little brother the C10 (which is the same tv in a less glossy case) lack some features of the 738/838 series TVs. Probably the biggest is no native 3D support so for 3D use you need to buy an expensive kit. The other big issue for most users will be the lack of "discrete" remote control codes, you can't pick inputs directly, you have to hit input, then up and down, or input again to cycle through the inputs to pick one. With a harmony remote or similar it's not as bad, but there's a long delay due to the slow interaction of the menu. Also the power button appears to not be discrete so getting power on and off in macros can be an issue if your remote isnt aimed well or the signal just gets missed.
A lot of reviews here are somewhat inappropriate in that they are based on TVs several generations old (light engine failures in particular) the last models in the 37 series didnt seem to have most of the faults these people are dredging up from older models. Also "buy an American made product" is laughable, as if there's an American made TV available, let alone a projection set in this league (Mitsu is the sole maker of this type of set in retail). Light bulb failures do happen, but that's life with a DLP set this big and will never change unless you buy a 5,000 dollar laservue set.
Some other things to note is that this TV does not have internet or usb connectivity like its bigger brothers. Also the 1080 up conversion on the set is so so. With HD source material the set is as good as it gets, with lower quality inputs the low quality of the built in converter will start to show up. This TV does decode and return HDMI audio via coaxial digital, but it is limited to a stereo connection, so make sure your reciver has digital inputs to match your components or can decode HDMI audio itself. One last item, the light engine has only one output setting, the higher end sets can dim the bulb to increase life and have more picture controls.
All that said if you know what you're getting into, this TV is in a league of its own in price to size to picture quality ratio. I got the set delivered to my living room for under a grand, on sale this TV is tough to compete with. My set is fed exclusively by a PS3 and a HTPC both of which take care of their own upconversion and are stable as far as color etc so they provide clean source and work great with this set.

What's not so great: TV does not hold up to usage and part are not available
I have had my Mitsubishi 65' DLP TV for 3 years and have had to have the TV serviced two times. The first time for the bulb which took at least a week to order and ship and the second time to service the TV when my picture went out in February 2011. Parts are not supported by a distributor in the US and they are on backorder for 3 weeks. I WILL FROM NOW ON BUY MADE IN AMERICA. The cost on my service will be $650.00.

What's great about it: Picture quality
What's not so great: Only lasts 3 years
Make sure you do your research about the unreliability of these DLP TV's and the horrible Mitsubishi customer service. The light bulb will burn out in 1 to 2 years = $150 repair if you do it yourself. Then in the 3rd or 4th year the TV will get white dots all over the screen. Google DLP white dots. This is a $1000 repair for a new light engine. Im about to throw my $2000 Mitsubishi DLP in the garbage at three yrs old because the light engine is Failing and the TV is not worth fixing.

What's great about it: Everything
What's not so great: nothing
When I hooked up this beast and turned it on to watch the Cleveland Browns game in HD, one word came to mind, STUNNING absolutely STUNNING. The brightness was as bright as your highest end LED, yet the darkness and color quality rivaled my Samsung plasma. When this TV was delivered my delivery guy Shaylan handled it with the utmost care and concern, almost as if it was his own. He then proceeded to tell me that not only was my purchase wise, but that he also own one of these fine machines. He also recommended I purchase the GSBTP which I did immediately after he left.
When watching movies it seemed as if I was an extra in the film being immersed in such a large panel may seem overwhelming at 1st, but trust you me, it is NOT. I was so engulfed in watching I stayed home watching a whole season of DEXTER even in cold Cleveland this machine had me thinking I was in Miami right along side every ones favorite serial killer lol.
When gaming it is a whole new experience I was playing NCAA college football 11 and now I have to pan the whole field to find my open receivers. The graphics and fluidness of the gameplay is exceptional, the players are clean and lifelike.
All in all this TV is your best option if you are not mounting it on a wall in closing all I can say is go big or go home!

What's great about it: Big picture and good quality
What's not so great: Limited connections in the back for components
After three weeks I still have a big smile on my face. This replaced an old 52 inch 4:3 analog TV that had a pretty good picture as well. 65 inches of screen is big but this one is in a big family room and fits just fine. As a matter of fact we gained about a foot of floor space because the old 52 inch was almost 30 inches deep. Don't have anything that plays 3D so I haven't worried about that feature as of yet, but for the price, having a 3D ready TV is just a plus.
There are 3 HDMI and 2 combination component/composite connections. I had 2 DVD players a cable box and a Wii and only the Blue-ray DVD player had HDMI. I could only hook two of the other 3 pieces to the component/composite connections until I took the cable box back and had it replaced with one that had HDMI out. Now everything is hooked up and working great. There are a lot of ways to hook up your system and you will need a few extra cables and some imagination if you have a lot of components you want to hook to the back of this TV. Unless you are hooking this to an antenna only, make sure you buy the HDMI cables you'll need to hook this up.
The only other issue is the sound which is actually better than most flat screen TVs. I think the problem is that with such a big picture you expect more sound. Sound is good for general watching of on air shows and I use the home theater sound system for my Blue-ray movies. I may eventually hook the TV to the home theater but don't like having to turn on a bunch of components just to watch TV.
Now that I have my issues out of the way, it's the big high-def picture that keeps the smile on my face. When you first fire it up with the defaults the picture is very bright and colors super vivid, almost to the point of being unreal. It is definitely an in your face, sharp, clear, picture. This is a basic model so there aren't a ton of adjustment options, but with a little playing around I set the lamp intensity to "Natural" and it cooled down the colors and skin tones looked more realistic. At this lower intensity setting the lamp life may be a little better. Some people have issue with the lamp life but even if you have to buy a bulb every year you will still have a good TV at about half the cost of what the same size Plasma would cost. And I've heard there are issues with how long Plasma TVs last, too.
I choose Excellent Picture quality because that is just what you get when you keep in mind you are buying a TV that isn't Mitsubishi's top of the line. Picture quality is great for general TV watching and sports on cable at 720p or 1080i have no problem unless the camera does a fast pan. Then you get a little bit of picture flutter and blurring which your eyes can adjust to a lot easier than the pixel problems that you would get with an LCD TV. With a high speed HDMI cable and the 1080p of the blue-ray player the picture quality is actually better than at the movies. Yes there is a little bit of flutter or blurring when the camera pans, but you get some of that at the movies too. And the picture is sharper, brighter, and there is no bubble gum or stains on your screen. Overall I think you will really like this model if you choose to buy it.
