What's great about it: Not sure
What's not so great: Too Hot
So, I purchased a pair of 10" kickers CVR with this amplifier and had it installed by Best Buy. This is for my 1500 RAM. The installers were great and did a fantastic job however the amp did not. It will get so hot you were not able to touch it after 5 minutes. I came back a couple of times and the installers did different configuration but did not work. Also, I was not able to bring it all the way up since the amp will shot off. After a third try I decided to switch to Alpine 500W. With this AMP, no problem, runs cool and my kickers are giving a great back massage. Since my Alpine is new, I am braking it in and looking forward to go back in a few days to Best Buy for the guys to pump up the juice a little bit more.
About me... Avid listener, Frequent car commuter, i love to feel the bass of the music

This amp is a beast. I had it powering a polk Dxi 12" prealoaded box. It was overpowering it. I then switched to a Kicker solobaric LS3 10" . This combination in my G6 GT sedan produces awesome, clean , tight hard hitting bass with a great frequency response range. I have the amp gain turned to a little above half so it stays nice and cool. The car is all best buy. Kicker from stage components, kicker 6x9's and the kicker solobaric subwoofer. The mids and highs are crisp, clean , loud and clear and sounds amazing.I am truly impressed.

What's great about it: Fast set up and bass knob
What's not so great: have had it over heat and shut off but was also 90*degrees that day so probably was why
Great Sub amp for the price have it pushing my 12" xplod sub (1200watt) no problems seems like a perfect match.

What's great about it: Very balanced value. Power vs Price vs Sound Quality
What's not so great: Bass knob is not fully functional
After using an older mtx amp for a few weeks with a 12" sony sub I decided to upgrade to a 15" kicker sub which i had sitting in a box for a few years.. model: x15c-2. The mtx amp cant handle the rms on the sub so i had to buy something that would work and work well with the kicker sub which is rated at 600rms.
after reading reviews on the alpine, power acoustic, kickers etc; i was able to find a guy locally who had all 3. i quickly went for the alpine cause it was so small and boasted class d quality build but was about $20 more than the pa880. I was wowed at the out put at moderate levels... almost sold i tried a kicker rated at about 440 watts... the amp seemed to punch harder but lacked a crisp sound like the alpine had. finally i said i'll try it but i never thought as polk audio as "good" equipment. after i got it wired up and i had the bass boost OFF (on all amps) and the control knob set to about 1/3 of the way up. I was impressed to see the amp gave me that punch the kicker had, but it at least to my ear gave me a much better sound all over than the kicker and alpine.
Ive been running the amp for about a week. the box i have the sub in is 2.5cuft 3/4mdf which i built myself. I listed to all types of music, rock, pop, rap, hip-hop, dubstep, trance, and even classical... i have yet to hear something that just did not FEEL good also. The knob allows me to adjust songs that are too bass heave before to a nice even sound you cant get with other amps.
the issues i have is the knob works to about half way up and just SLIGHTLY more, but after that it does not increase the output at all, i will however need to verify this issue with the gains set at their highest. perhaps a defect? but thats the issue i found other than the screw holes are oddly fitting, so screwing this amp in to anything is a chore as the holes for the screws are just as big as the screws... you will want to thread the screws in first then go in after they are fully through.
the hex shaped terminals are nice as philips type always seem to strip on every other amp ive had.
im contemplating buying the pa660 for my surround sound but so far just running the highs through out the car on the head unit works just fine. im sure as with the pa880 adding the 4 channel pa660 will make the music come alive even more.

What's great about it: Sound Quality, Bump
What's not so great: Nothing
I've had 3 other amps before this hooked up to 2 Kicker Comps and this amp by far has the best sound quality and the best bump. I hooked this up in my friends car to the mentioned above subs and it really makes them slap. He had a 2 inch crack in his windshield and after we put the amp in it cracked all the way up the windshield. He is quite impressed. So I went out and bought this amp for my 2 Kicker CVR's and I must say they hit harder now than my old Alpine M1000 amp.
What's even better is that it comes with a Bass Knob which I've been wanting in an Amp for quite sometime but could never seem to find one. Makes having subs way better,

What can I say, I think this amp rocks! Much improved base sound over my previous base model Orion amplifier. It sounds really clean where I'm happy with the upgrade. I think its a great value for 200 bucks. Can't wait to upgrade to some higher dollar 10inch subs in the future.

I like this amp. I'm soon going to pair this up with a Polk audio sub. Easy to install. I haven't pushed it to hard because my current subs wont be able to handle the power.

What's great about it: Power for price
What's not so great: Nothing so Far
Purchased this amp a few days ago, upgrading from a Sony Xm-ZR1252 (2 channel 800W ) amp. From the moment i finished installing the 880 you could hear the difference. Had to make a few adjustments to the Head Unit, because D*%$......it was hittin hard. Have it pushing 2-12" Kenwoods, It was raddling parts of my vehicle i didn't think this amp could do. (Slept on this amp early, need to dynamat a few more spots now lol). Had to decrease the sub control to -7 on the Head unit (80mhz +2 previously). The Gain on the amp is only half way, when on the Sony it was maxed out. Havn't even touched the bass level on the PA. 880 yet. Dont get me wrong the Xm-ZR1252 did its job, considering price and typed. The 880 amp gets alittle warm but hasn't overheated. It Has Hex typed connectors ( Hex tools are included),and comes with a sub level control that can be installed near your head unit. Overall the Polk PA.880 is a solid amp for the price and the power it brings.

What's great about it: Price..sound quality
What's not so great: Get Hot very quickly..no cooling fan.
I was debating if i should get this amp or apline v-power 1000 watts to power my two 12" phoenix gold Max. (400 watts each)
First i bought this amp and test it, took it back and exchange for a 399 alpine v-power 1000, test that too, and the polk which is 200 cheaper hit harder then alpine. Lastly i took the alpine back and got the poke...
IMO, the poke hit harder, i only have to turn the bass on my deck -7 and the bass is loud, compare to the alpine which i have to turn my deck all the way to +7 in order to heard good bass.
This amp is good for the pice if you are on a low budget like i am. I give this amp 4 star because it does not have a cooling fan, this cause the amp to heat up or get very hot (and i mean very very hot) quickly. Make sure you buy a warranty which i did, because you never know when this amp going to blew.

What's great about it: Cost, Polk Reputation, Build quality, Its MONO, Power
What's not so great: Nothing thusfar
Just bought this amp after deliberating over it for several days. Is was between the Alpine mono, Orion mono and this one.... I was skeptical of this amp given it was the first time I have seen a Polk Mono amp at Best Buy. Also i was also fearful that this was a best buy product with a name brand stamp. The salesman assurred me it wasn't. After installing this amp I immediately heard the power come to life. I only had the volume up to 8 and I could already see and hear my trunk shake. Running 2 Kicker Comp 10inch subs in a ported box.

I bought this amp a week ago and i am very pleased...
I have this this amp pushing 3 12's and running at a 1 ohm load and it sounds great and hits hard. I had a calafornia profile amp that i had for 7 years that i purchased at circuit city you guys remember that old store... Anyways the amp finally gave up on me so i checked out this new polk amp and i am amazed... It really pushes my 12's nicely i have another car and will soon be adding another amp and 3 12's in my other car........peace

What's great about it: Price! The Awesome Power! Well Built & Solid
What's not so great: That I do not own MORE Polk Audio components!
I bought this amp to Replace a 500 watt Alpine which at first glace seemed like a very nice & well built amp but ended up being VERY disappointing ( runs very hot and shuts down, weak performance). I installed this Polk Audio PA 880 & ran it at 2 ohms to two 12 inch subs and it really makes then pump! I thought the Alpine was probably getting the most out of these subs but it wasn't even close!
The bass is now very tight & responsive & makes my ears feel like they are itching and caving in!!! Now I am happy! lol This amp is VERY powerful and well rated. I can not turn the gain up near half way or it will blow my 12's out of the box! I am really curious to see what this amp could do with a speaker set up better than mine.
I am very pleased and slightly amazed with this amp. I did not install the bass boost control knob until this morning and that turns it up another notch ( on the cool as heck-o-meter!). Its very nice to be able to hit the gain control whenever you need too. I listen to all kinds of music so its cool to be able to turn down the bass while listening to classic rock.
You can not go wrong with this one! Now I am thinking about buying the PA 660 for my highs and mids even though I was going to use the Alpine for that. I am so impressed with the quality standards of this brand I may even become a loyalist Polk Audio boy!
