What's great about it: nothing
What's not so great: broke
So I bought this for school and the only thing I ever used it for was surfing the internet and writing papers. Well yesterday after I was done doing some school work I shut the computer down and went to bed. When I got up in the morning to turn it on to finish some of my work the computer wouldn't turn on. It wasn't plugged in so it couldn't have surged and it was shut down properly. I called Toshiba and tried to talk to them about the problem but because it was out of warranty they couldn't talk to me unless they charged me $50. So if you like not knowing if your computer will break any second and being charged for something that's obviously a defect then buy this. If you like quality then stay away from Toshiba.

What's great about it: nice blue color
What's not so great: At least it hasn't crashed yet but not reliable nor dependable. Doe a lot of quirky thiings whle I write.
I bought this to finish writing my novel & only use it for that. purpose--no E-mail, web-cam, etc.. We have a desktop for that.
Pros: It's very light weight, love the long battery life. While my kids do their stuff, I sit with my small laptop and work.
Cons: I need an excorcism for the beastie that randomly takes over my laptop. The typeface changes size while you type. The demon will reduce the size of the screen from 80% & races up to 130% even when you stop typing. It takes a while to make it stop. Also, while typing, the screen jumps anywhere on my story. I use the undo button to return to my spot. The cursor disappears a lot & I page up to find it. Excel will not work due to the small screen. These quirks are very distracting and break my concentration. Once I get my advance for the novel, I get my Mac.
It's a cheap computer and you get what you pay for, sadly.
This product is... A nice compact size

What's great about it: Battery Life
What's not so great: Scratches easily and Expensive
I will start out with the positives:
I can that this netbook with me to campus and know that if I accidentally left my battery cord at home that I wont have to worry about my battery dying while typing notes. Even on the high performance setting and w/ the screen brightness all the way up I've gotten 4 hours out of the battery
The finish on the keys really does hide fingerprints. I used to have to clean my keyboard on my other netbooks constantly to try and get rid of the fingerprints, but this one doesn't have that problem.
And now the negatives:
I bought this netbook with hopes of being able to video chat with my family while Im going to graduate school out of the country. Unfortunately, just by closing the netbook lid, the inside casing around the screen is scratched to hell. This includes the plastic over the web camera. The plastic is so scratched that the web camera is not usable. Just from closing the lid, there are square marks on the plastic casing from the function keys.
While the finish on the keys and body of the laptop is great for hiding fingerprints, it is NOT durable. Just like the casing around the screen, you can see every little scratch on the this netbook. All the printed symbols (power sign, plug, battery, CPU, wireless.....) have pretty much been rubbed off just by regular use.
Every laptop comes with the little rubber "feet" that help keep the fan intakes off the table and to keep the base of the laptop from scratching furniture. Within a few DAYS off me owning this netbook, 2 of the 6 "feet" had fallen off. There are a few other mechanical issues with the netbook, but in all honesty... I could go on for days talking about the problems with this beast.
I was also irritated by the fact that it came with Windows 7 starter. For the price of this netbook, I would have expected it to come with windows 7. The starter edition is very limited. You cant even put your own desktop background unless you download a program.
I've had 2 netbooks before this one (both Asus brand), and both were WAY more durable and performed faster than this Toshiba. In retrospect, I should have stuck with the Asus brand or gone with an Hp. I would not buy another Toshiba.

What's great about it: Quick and portable
What's not so great: Crashed after one year
I got this computer for a Christmas present, and I really loved it. Except for the sound quality, it was great to carry around and surf the web or do small projects. Then, without warning, as soon as the warranty goes out, the hard drive crashes. I was so upset, and of course, there was nothing Toshiba could do about it! So, instead of the 400 bucks for the stupid thing, i'm paying another 100 just to fix the hard drive to get it to work! DO NOT SPEND YOUR MONEY ON THIS THING! I would recommend an HP, since I have never had my hard drive crash on my HP computers. This is a waste of money, and there are other, better quality Mini computers out there that are cheaper than this thing that do the same job even better. If you absolutely can't live without this thing, make sure you purchase an extended warranty, because it will crash on you.

What's great about it: Battery life, portable, great for school
What's not so great: webcam gets scratched, FN key
this was really nice at first and really fast too!!! but then it started to slow down and every time i closed the lid, the webcam got scratched up and so did the toutchpad. i have a neoprene sleeve for it, but the inside gets all scratched and scuffed up anyways! so now my webcam is absolutly useless... and i love skype so im pretty P.O. other than that its good for school and if anything goes wrong with the system, the system restore works like a charm. NOTE: the Function Button(FN) barely works half of the time and gets really annoying...

What's great about it: nothing
What's not so great: nothing
I purchased the FIRST Toshiba 10" netbook and the geek squad discovered that the letter M did not work on the keyboard. I then purchased the SECOND identical netbook. It was very difficult to type, ie, the letters would not appear on the screen - then they ALL appeared and I had to go back and space the words. I returned it to the store and 2 of the geeks decided the keyboard was malfunctioning. So I THEN purchased a DIFFERENT laptop completely. Not sure I am comfortable with Best Buy anymore.

What's great about it: Portability
What's not so great: Very, very slow, disconnects easily
This little machine is cute & portable, but it has limited usefulness. It is painfully slow: Ninety seconds to two minutes to upload a site is not unusual, if it happens at all. The speakers are of poor quality: I can barely hear anything, and what is coming through is "tinny". I am often disconnected without warning, and this cursor seems to have a mind of its own. This is for checking e-mail but not much else. I also wish I had purchased a machine with embedded broadband.

What's great about it: Lightweight, fast, long battery life, WiFi range is great
What's not so great: Needs larger speakers or louder volume
They should've included 2 gigs, Win 7 Home Premium and a 61 Wh battery in the package. The extra memory, higher capacity battery and Win 7 Home Premium really make this netbook shine.
I've updated the batteries, memory and operating systems on every portable computer I've ever purchased. I guess it's how the manufacturers hold the price down. For a hobbyist like me, upgrading is just part of the fun.
On a side note, this computer worked well with an in flight WiFi service on a recent airline flight. I was able to track our flight's progress while reading news services. Sweet!

What's great about it: Portability, cool design
What's not so great: Slow, non-upgradeable, poor tech support
After doing much online research, and seeing a few different models in person at Best Buy, I bought this netbook because of its light weight, cool design, and supposed ability to upgrade to 2GB RAM. Unfortunately, I am returning it because this particular model of the Toshiba NB305 is not upgradeable to 2 GB as advertised. I purchased two different memory modules, and neither worked. When I called Toshiba tech support, the technician put me on hold, then hung up on me. I KNOW he hung up because I had given him my phone number at the beginning of the call, and he said he would call me back if we got disconnected. He never did.
When I searched online for reasons why the 2GB DDR3 memory modules do not work, I found stories similar to mine on the Toshiba Support web site. For now, Toshiba has no solution to this problem. So, if you are thinking about buying this netbook and upgrading the memory, think again. I, for one, am moving to HP or Dell.
