Wireless Setup
on April 28, 2015

The wireless setup for this projector is not as easy as it appears. We have had the project for 3 weeks and still not able to connect via wireless. Instructions do not work. Have a very capable IT person who is not able to connect. Love the projector but do not like the wireless capability. We followed the instructions as laid out and it still doesn't work. We also have another projector similar to this one in another training room and I found out that is has the wireless capability and it was never able to be set up. Very Disappointed in this feature as the purpose of purchasing this projector with this feature is do that vendors could easily connect wirelessly utilizing their iPad and etc.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Great projector

I bought this projector to be an alternative to a tv that is large and compact. The reason I decided on the epson ex5220 is it is light, has a relatively short throw and has wireless capabilities. So far the projector is great, the image is sharp even in very bright situations and is very easy to work.
There are a few issues with it that are livable but a little frustrating. Problem 1: there is no manual included with the printer, only a disk with a link to a pfd. Not a big issue but a physical manual would be much more convenient. Problem 2: the wireless feature is not actually built into the projector, you must plug an included USB into the back to enable the feature. This isn't a huge deal but the USB must be removed to fit the projector into the carrying case and can be annoying to keep track of. Another issue I found with the wireless feature is the software required for your computer was not on the included disk and was somewhat of a hassle to find and download. Another issue is if my computer is projecting wirelessly to the printer, I no longer have wireless internet access because the projector connects through the computers wifi, annoying. Finally my last issue is the inability to route the audio how I would like when connected wirelessly, the audio must go through the projector and I have yet to find a way to change this, again a little annoying but there is probably some sort of solution at least that I have yet to find. I hope Epson can make the wireless feature a little simpler and intuitive on future products.
Other then these issues the projector is awesome. The image looks great even without a proper screen, the built in speakers are pretty good and it has every connection you could possibly ever need on the back. It's very easy to set up with tons of ways to fine tune and perfect the image your projecting.
All in all this is a great projector with a few issues for me mainly with the wireless features but I would still recommend this to someone looking for a well priced and full featured projector not planning to use the wireless feature extensively.

I found the instructions very complex but once I read them over at least 6 to 8 times, I finally was able to interpret the instructions. The remote that comes with the projector is way to complicated. I used it as a power point presentation for a large audience so all I needed was a simple click
forward and a simple click backwards. also, it had not laser pointer but did have an arrow that was useless. Other than that the projected images were very clear.

I bought this projector to watch movies in the backyard with the family and i was a bit skeptical about what the quality of the image would be but it was great. The projector itself even sounds great alone.

1 word for the Epson EX520... AWESOME! Vivid color, sharp images, WiFi capability reducing use of cables... completely versatile in all applications. I am using my Epson EX5220 for my DJ business offering Monogram Projections at my Client's Weddings. The WiFi feature enable me to set it up on a 9' tripod and throw the image onto the dance floor or background wall meanwhile using my laptop over 25' away. Definitely worth the money investing into my service and providing the "WOW" factor for my clients. Great buy for the money!

I bought this to do a slide show at a luncheon with 100 people in a relative large room. It worked out perfectly. I have also hooked it up to my direct tv via an hdmi connection and the results were fantastic. I plan to use it to show movies and sporting events when I have a bunch of people over.

What a great projector

This is really one fantastic projector. Maybe because my old projector was about 10 years old, but this projector has so many great features. It is fast to set up at the venue, practically automatic. One of the great features that most people don't think about is the ability to adjust the projector level. My old projector had just one leveling screw on one side. This projector has two, one on each side of the back of the projector. I realize this is a business projector, but I'm using it for our church regional seminars. We have a 10' x 7.5' rear projection screen and this little projector does a fantastic job! I like that it has several different light sources. You can quickly scroll through then and find the best display lighting at the venue. I find that nearly every venue is different and you can quickly switch to one that suits your room. I will have to say that the wireless feature is pretty confusing. First of all, it only mentions that you have to have the wireless LAN module (not included in all models) in order to make it work. I kept trying to use the USB module and it just locked up my computer. This particular model projector doesn't come with the wireless LAN Module, so if you are going to want to project wirelessly, better order the wireless LAN module when you order the projector. Also, there's no audio out port, so if you're going to want to use house sound, then you'll have to run if off your laptop. Other than that, this is the best little guy for the money you can buy, hands down!
