Love the Slate Series, great microwave.

The microwave is great, especially during remodel when our range was not yet hooked up it was a lifesaver. It heats food evenly and is very sturdy. The only disappointment is we custom built our cabinets to accommodate the microwave. Going off the stainless specs we built the opening for the smaller sized microwave vent kit and it was not available in Slate. We ended up doing the stainless vent kit which compliments the handles on the Slate series products.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Only complaint is that there is no handle to open the door, only a release button. So, to open or close the door, there is always a loud clunk/snap sound. And at times I would like to do it silently when a baby is sleeping. And with no handle, you are required to shut the door at the edge which leaves finger prints. Not a big deal but the GE microwave I replaced had a handle and a release button that I could hold to open and shut silently.

Overall, it's a good microwave. You have to really close the door hard to get it to close, but other than that it does its job. Looks nice.

Looks nice, but seems to be a defective model

This microwave came installed in our new home. We had it for about 3 months when it made a popping noise and went out completely (no foil or metal was in it although I can image that is the reaction you would get if you did). It was under warranty, so we were brought a new one. The replacement one worked for approximately 4 months. I had food in the microwave for 30 seconds, and when it was supposed to shut off after the 30 seconds were up, the microwave stayed on! Luckily I was around and realized it, or no telling what would have happened. The microwave would literally not shut off unless the door was opened or we unplugged it. So we just recently received our 3rd one! We have not been in our home for a year yet. I would not recommend this microwave as it seems to have a life span of about 3-4 months.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I bot this microwave after doing some research to match my built in wall oven and a replacement for the existing one that gave up after 15 years. This turned out to be the perfect match with the right features and price. I love the performance and features that go with this model at this prices range. All in all an excellent model.
