flaky sensor cooking, easily-chipped glass plate

My previous GE microwave lasted nearly 16 years, and had a nice variety of reheat options. Sadly, on this model most of those were replaced with "sensor cooking" buttons that tend to burn food. I don't know how the glass plate got a big chunk knocked out of it in normal use; none of the plates or bowls I use in it have matching chips, and it's never been dropped or even removed since installation.
I bought it because it was the largest GE that would fit into my cabinet space, but the matching trim kit looks terribly cheap from the side.
I doubt it will last as long as the previous one, and GE won't be my first choice for a replacement.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I bought my slate microwave about 3 months ago to complete coordination with my frig, stove, range hood and dishwasher. I have to regrets on the finish selection or the appliance as a whole.

Probably more microwave than I need for my home; but it a real quality item, and I am enjoying it...it's ease of operation even for a Senior Citizen.

I just purchased and installed the fourth GE Profile microwave oven in 13 years. So, they last about four years.

Problems here

Cheaply made face cover. Another problem is, if you reheat for long periods the door is difficult to open. It may be the plastic release lever on the inside. I have another one I bought three years ago that is better made with no problems
