Stopped working after 1 year and 8 months.

This microwave was installed with my new house and it stopped heating after 1 year and 8 months. It turns on and rotates but doesn't heat, this looks like a common problem. We seldom used it and have been able to go 6 months without one, I'm only shopping for a new one now because I'm finally tired of the empty space. It's a built in one and I'm concerned that I'll need to stick with a GE model due to size.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

If you buy a GE appliance buy extended warranty

We bought all new GE appliances for our new home. Installed them March of 2016 .They look awesome but have been a huge disappointment.The microwave has stopped heating and makes a very loud noise. The stove top has had to have 2 burners replaced and one won’t even turn on or off completely. The refrigerator quit cooling the first year And needed to be repaired. The double oven thank goodness started working again after a hard reset. Since our children are all grown and gone just us two left we thought these new appliances should last for many years. Well, they still look awesome, now, if they only worked :( . Didn’t buy extended warranty. Shouldn’t have needed it when taking good care of appliances. My old home appliances all still work 20 years later. Too bad my new GE appliances couldn’t make 2 years :/ .

Frustrating!

Heating microwave functionality is acceptable. Our family has always relied on the timer functionality embedded in the kitchen microwave. While this microwave does have a timer function, the timer alarm only gives one short "beep" when time expires. Yet, interrupt the reheat cycle and the microwave continues to "beep" needlessly. I know I stopped the reheat cycle, however I may not be in the room when the timer goes off.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

It makes things hot, but only for two years.

This microwave works well. Until it doesn’t.
The morning after Thanksgiving, I went into the kitchen and noticed the microwave light was on. I figured I didn’t shut the door completely. Nope. The latch that holds the door closed died! All the other parts wanted to work, but without a fully functioning door latch, The Warm doesn’t happen. It was installed November 2015, so isn’t under warranty.
I’m begrudgingly giving GE one more chance on this, but expensively, as we’re using it as a built in. We’ve bought a replacement unit which was installed today.

Huge interior space!

This microwave fits perfectly in the cabinet space that previously housed an older model. The buttons are super easy to understand. Great power! Not too loud!
