Good but be careful

Had for 5 years in new home. Just stopped heating. Apparently very common problem at about this time length. Replacement part(s) will cost almost half the cost of microwave and with repair costs, you may as well buy new. Besides this most recent problem, no problems with great capabilities. Easy to use. Large.

Failure mode: humming sound, live microwave

Ours failed today. It reheated food. Opened door to retrieve food before time ran out. Closed door. Heard humming noise (like when it's on, except not as much noise). Tested by putting water in side. Again, I didn't program it to turn on. No lights, no turn table, no fan sound. After 30 seconds, the water was hot. I could set a timer, program stuff. It just would not turn off unless the door was opened. Ultimately I figured someone who didn't notice the sound would close it and walk away leaving it microwaving nothing which is bad from what I recall. I had to unmount it from our built in cabinetry to get it unplugged for safety.

Not the performance of GE great expectations

3 years old and does not work. What happened to having appliance products lasting. Get better life out of a LED lightbulb to bad I can't heat up my coffee on a bulb. Not a fan of GE anymore.

Poor durability

Only 7 yrs old with light daily use and the control panel is shot. This is the second unit, first one lasted only 6 but I thought it was just bad luck- wrong! Crap Jap parts & no more GE for me

Stopped working after 4 years light use

Seems that this is a common theme with this microwave. We have this microwave with the trim kit and need to now replace the full thing.
