FIRE HAZARD - SPARKED! Now doesn’t open

There was a big spark while heating the food. I was scared big time bcoz this is a built in microwave and there is wooden cupboards around it. Caused big FIRE SCARE for us. After the spark now microwave knob to open the door does not work and microwave does not work anymore. Not sure what to do with this junk now. Even scared to touch it now.

Lasted 10 years with Minor issues

We have had this microwave for 10 years. Had GE come out to fix/replace a fuse three times. Last week we were heating a bag of popcorn and the same EXACT issue happened as everyone has been saying. It sparked and smoked so we unplugged it and got it out of the house. Now our issue is we cannot buy the same microwave and the similar one that we bought (PES7227SL5SS) you think would use the same trim kit, but it doesn’t! The suggested replacement GE is suggesting on this review board only comes in gray, not stainless steel. My review is 4 stars because with minor repair it did last us 10 years but it’s disappointing that we will have to get a new trim kit and nothing fits our old one now.

Poor quality

Purchase this product as part of the GE profile set when I built my new home. Several things have gone wrong with the microwave since I’ve owned it I have had to replace rotor the rotating drive then the light went out quickly. The door handle does not shut properly. I have to push on the door in order for to close completely the button that you push in order to open the door, the color has completely been worn away, and now the microwave is arcing. I can no longer use it very disappointing. This is a built-in product and now I have to replace . Poor quality cheaply made.

Expensive Microwave, not good quality

We recommend resetting your microwave by disconnecting power from the unit for 2 - 3 minutes and reconnecting power. If this reset does not revert the unit back to normal operating function and eliminate the crackling noise, this will require service by a qualified technician. DANGEROUS- Sparks FIRE HAZARD

DANGEROUS - We have replaced this model twice in 6 years. Now, this one is sparking too. The first one was doing the same thing. The only reason we purchased the same model again was to keep our appliance package matching. This unit needs to be recalled! Many others with the same issue.

Avoid at all costs

This product was installed from a previous owner of our house. It has since sparked and flamed on a few occasions with enough concern for us to pull it from the built-in until we can get a replacement. We searched GE for a replacement with size to fit the mounting brackets and trim enclosure - which led us to PES7227. Since we received this unit, we then discovered that the mounting bracket is not compatible with this model. In searching, there does not seem to be an equivalent available for built-in mounting. In reading other's similar issues on the reviews and in ability to replace, I am questioning this product line all together.

This product was working fine since yesterday and we used it occasionally and looks like brand new. Yesterday heard some sound and the food is not heating even thou I keep hearing a click and lights are on inside. Any suggestions to get this back working again please. Thanks
