Don't buy - fire hazard

I wish I'd read the reviews before buying. The exact same thing happened to my microwave. It started sparking and almost caught fire. There is obviously a design flaw or other issue that they are ignoring. Way too many reviews say the same thing.

Sparks! Scary. DO NOT BUY!

2016 model randomly started to spark when heating popcorn. After going through the reviews, I see I am not the only one who has this issue. Hope GE fixes it.

Paint/chips from walls of microwave fall

I love the size and ease of use. However, I also have the problem of paint chips falling as well as rust. I have to replace my microwave because I no longer feel safe using it.

Microwave sparks - Fire hazard!

Just like the other reviews, my microwave oven also started sparking. Very dangerous and very disappointing! I don’t know what model to buy to replace it without having to buy a new trim kit!

Stainless Steel Microwave came built-in when house was purchased. While making popcorn randomly started sparking and thankfully we were watching it or it would have caught on fire. We have researched and this model is no longer being made with no other model avaiable that will fit and match our oven, which this is mounted right over it. I see that many others have experienced the same issue, it seems like it could be a manufacturer's defect. I'm left with an unsafe product that cannot be used and no safe similar replacement that I can buy that matches and fits in the cabinet. I also read this is not fixable. Unhappy with this product.

Worked great, until it didn't

I'm in the same boat with others with arcing and burning out at the mag. The whole connector was melted away, and the wire was burned about 2 inches up. This was clearly a fire risk and I consider myself lucky it didn't cause a larger issue. I cleaned up the connection and reconnected the wire, but it is still flaky and I don't trust the shoddy wiring carrying that much power, so this microwave is likely trash.

Burnt smell from microwave and stopped working.

It was working fine for sometime but suddenly it sparked some kinds fire noise and I could smell burnt wire or something, glad I was home and nothing bad happened but this is a huge fire hazard. This needs to be looked into asap and recalled there could be house on fire.
